    Thank you for such a great review, I'm totally getting this knife soon! I really appreciate the true, realistic and common sense approach that you have shown here. I'm so tired of the flashy youtubers who have unrealistic expectations towards knives making people believe that you need an expensive full-tang beast that can lift mountains to survive or have a great camping tool. There is no way you're going to break a Mora if you use it properly and it can even take some abuse. Learning how to use a knife with you brain instead of relying on the tool to do absolutely everything for you is an essential asset and once you understand that, you'll never look back after getting a few Moras. You get amazing knives that will last YEARS for ridiculous prices. Absolutely love them.

    • @JunkyardFox
      @JunkyardFox  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      i completely agree. thick, heavy knives are such macho fantasy bullshit. what good is something being indestructible when its uncomfortable and incompetent when using for realistic tasks? its all in the skill of the user. our ancestors were using sharp stones and bones and they survived.

    If a tree has leaves, it's considered a hardwood. If the tree has needles, it's considered softwood. Therefore mesquite is a hardwood. Your bacon wrapped sausages looks good.

    Great video
    Fero rod trick. Shave off a few shavings to strike before going to town with the rod. In the long run it saves the rod on hard to start wood and the extra flare up and heat usually is enough to get it going.

    You just sparked to an idea regarding the hot spots made by the holes in the handle. No pun intended. Stuff some lightly waxed jute twine in there. Will also serve as a tinder. Whether and how long it will stay in place is another question. I'll have to try it out on mine. I like your style, you got a new subscriber! 👍🏼

    I've never been a fan of stainless steel knives, but I bought my first Mora companion a couple years ago and I love the 12c27. I have a stable of them now. easy to maintain the edge with a sharpening steel. Almost bought the spark recently. Great knives for experienced as well as beginner. BTW I got bag Full of tuna from a friend of mine today. Gonna try that idea you had with the bannock as well as some agua fresca.

    That would be a great little knife to replace the emergency knife you keep on your boot, amigo, that way if you lost all your other gear for some reason you would still have the two most important pieces of gear to all survival kits, an excellent knife and a fire starting device that you are very proficient with,....imho.

    Great video like always. I don't know much about that type of wood . But, if you would have done wood scrapings like Maya dust type; o,r if you would have scraped some magnesium off from your ferro rod; or even a combination of both. You would get a flame in two strikes. Just a hint

    I’m really happy to see Mora do a little more grind work on the spine. I know this was probably for the ferro rod but I hope they keep it up. They’re great knives for the price but the first time I showed my uncle my companion he looked at the metalwork on the spine, laughed and handed it back. I still like it. How sturdy is the catch mechanism on the ferro rod? Did you notice it falling off at all?
