The DANGERS Of Thyroid Antibodies (They Hurt More Than Your Thyroid)

  • Many thyroid patients with autoimmune thyroid disease like Hashimoto's and Graves' don't realize this but the antibodies that cause thyroid problems (that are associated with these disease states) also cause problems in other tissues in your body.
These antibodies are like heat-seeking missiles that target various proteins and receptors in your thyroid gland which results in abnormalities in thyroid function as well as thyroid gland damage.
We are also learning that these antibodies can cause harm and damage to other tissues as well depending on which antibody you have present in your body.
Let's go over each antibody and the problems they can cause:
    Thyroid peroxidase antibody:
    - Hashimoto's encephalitis
    - Infertility
    - Vasculo-placental complications
    - Health in aged women
    - Increased cancer incidence in breast, colon, kidney, and uterus
    - Decreased survival rate in breast cancer patients
    Thyroglobulin antibody:
    - Infertility
    - Increased cancer incidence of breast, colon, kidney, and uterus
    - Decreased survival rate in breast cancer patients
    Thyroid-stimulating hormone receptor antibody:
    - Graves' orbitopathy
    - Graves' dermatopathy
    - Increased cancer incidence of breast, colon, kidney, uterus, and ovary

I have elevated antibodies for both Hashimotos and Graves. Currently hyperthyroid with a TSH of 0.01. 10 years of absolute hell dealing with kidney stones, dilated bile ducts with strictures, weird rashes, swollen joints, high heart rate, bloody diarrhea and extreme anxiety. I went to UCLA last November and finally got diagnosed with a multitude of issues. Graves Disease, Dermatomyositis, Rheumatoid Arthritis and just recently Chrohns Disease. I had changed my diet and avoided sugar, dairy and gluten 3 years ago but the symptoms still persisted and worsened. I’m on a boatload of medications now and they are talking about surgery but I’m not ready to face that yet. It’s so overwhelming I sometimes think of giving up but I have two wonderful boys and an awesome husband so I will soldier on.

Your story totally hit home for me, I was dealing with all those symptoms as well and more. Diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism/Graves and developed TED. Dealt with this shit for about 10 years or so, misdiagnosed multiple times. I was put on methimzole 10mg for over a year in 2015 to 2017 went into remission was taken off meds and in 2018 felt like crap again all symptoms came back. I tried to do a natural protocol, no alcohol, no dairy for over a year, cut sugar out, more of a whole food regimen, taking, methimzole, for 6 months got off it do to rashes and allergic reaction, started taking bugleweed, motherwort, and lemon balm it helped a little but all my lab numbers doubled in 5 months so symptoms were bad. This disease caused havoc in my personal, family, career and health. So my endocrinologist referred me to meet with an endocrine surgeon, I was trying to stay away from surgery especially because most of the feedback from the internet and support groups are very negative and horrifying which I'm sure patients have had those outcomes, so I put off surgery for years and still wanted to try again doing it the natural way. After speaking with my surgeon he said this next phrase that changed my mind, he said....."Art, if your disease would've been caught at its early stages we would be having a different conversation, but it wasn't unfortunately and you have been dealing with this for years and I can tell you really need it, if you were my brother I would tell you to get the surgery because you are going to feel so much better". If the surgeon never would been direct with me and told me that I still would've been in the same bad place and not get the surgery. I'm so glad I listened to him and got the surgery, RAI was not an option due to graves disease/TED, but as of today I am 2 months post Total Thyroidectomy surgery and wow I feel so good, I feel like my old self, all the symptoms went away, and I am feeling happy, posititve and hopeful. I know every individual is different and we have to make our own decisions, but I am glad I stopped reading all the negative comments on these fb support groups. I got my life back, I am glad I had a great surgeon, but everyone needs to do thier own research. Hope you feel better.

It has been about 20+ years since I had my Thyroglobulin and Thyroid peroxidase antibodies done. My Thyroglobulin autoantibodies was 640 and my TPO AUTO ANTIBODIES was greater than 2000. My TSH jumped up from 0.84 to about 25 in 6 months. I went on Levothyroxin and my antibodies went down. I also have hypertension and MOBITZ II second degree heart block with marked bradycardia. Heart rate 29. I have a pacemaker to manage the cardiac issues.
I have had a couple of close calls with lumpectomy but fortunately it was only a fibroadenoma And pre cancerous issues of my cervix. ( had a LEEP biopsy ). Caught those early. The broken ankle and arm from simply accidents. Bone density ok.

I just discovered that candida and parasites are causing my thyroid antibody problem took 3 different naturopathic drs to figure this out. My new one has started looking for parasites etc…..and I started a candida parasite cleanse FULL FORCE. Massive die off. I have Hashimoto’s. Parasites and candida can destroy the thyroid too. I think parasites and candida ran on my mothers side of the family stomach problems 5 generations later arriving at me. Numerous issues that are chronic food allergies that won’t improve, chemical sensitivities, pms problems that nothing helps…..I was at a point of almost throwing all my supplements in the trash 🗑️ because I literally felt they weren’t helping ….now I discovered parasites and candida have been eating EVERYTHING I PUT IN MY BODY……INCLUDING BIO IDENTICAL PROGESTERONE…..SO MY NEW DR HAS SWITCHED OVER FROM PILL FORM TO A CREAM ON THE WRIST OR SOMEWHERE ON THE BODY. I have been chronically ill since the womb like my mother before me and she is 72 almost degenerative in health all her life since a child. My new Dr 👩‍⚕️ naturopathic has me on IV natural therapy bypassing the gut entirely. So bugs can’t get the nutrients from the IV as it is going directly into my blood stream. Not my gut. Where my body can use these nutrients to heal immediately…..Available for use immediately.

My thyroid antibodies have been up and down for a decade. In Canada 🇨🇦 my last blood work was 239 thyroid antibodies wise….I know deep down this isn’t good and I have been researching my guts out to figure this out to SAVE my thyroid. Thyroid issues run on my fathers side. His mother had neither part of her thyroid or parathyroid removed was on meds till her death, my father his thyroid atrophied, his sister is on thyroid medication, now me his daughter mine fully started after a vaccine reaction 15 years ago. Plus I have had dizziness too for a few years I think candida has been brewing alcohol in my gut every morning I wake up with a hang over feeling and I feel a tad better as the day goes on…..especially after I eat……I am totally KETO …..off sugar, carbs, fruit ….full fat , protein, some veggies. Using liver supplements too . Fiber support too. Hugely important plus L Glutamine to heal the gut wall. I also have bladder issues from candida etc,…..frequent trips to the bathroom and incontinence. Super annoying. My last dr actually found leukocytes in my urine last September and my new dr 👩‍⚕️ believes that is what is causing my problems .

    • @orchidsrosesg_disone4431
      @orchidsrosesg_disone4431 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I am also supporting my estrogen metabolism in this too…..using DIM, SULFORAPHANE and Calcium D Glucarate to help with estrogen metabolism because if parasites and candida have been keeping me in a low progesterone state and eating my medication bio identical progesterone too then I need to help my body with this extra estrogen load. Praying this progesterone cream on the wrist improves a lot more too . Where bugs have no access to it. My mother had 2 miscarriages and 1 ectopic pregnancy. Before my 2 brothers and I were born. I know she had candida parasites too. Her health says it all.

So what happens when one is in end stage of Hashimoto's and the thyroid is basically destroyed and antibodies somewhat drop..
At this point.. I just give up... I'm exhausted. I never managed to reduce antibodies for long... To top it of I just had a chest ct scan which is also highly radioactive and dramatically increases cancer risks...

Tell me why do doctors, even specialists, act like it's no big deal, there is no treatment other than wait and watch? I was diagnosed with Hashimotos 7years ago and have acted like it's not a big deal. I refused the biopsy and so treatment was denied to me. I don't want to know if I have cancer. Why can't doctors treat you for what needs to be treated rather than holding you hostage to do what they want? I have tried going the holistic route, but that is so expensive. I am finally going to try the keto diet and hope that it works out. These videos are informative, yet scare the shit out of me and I try to keep fear out of my life.
