Loved Alan Ball, i even bought white footy boots because of him and i think Alan Hinton, top dog continentals they were called, Alan Ball would tackle a giant, heart of a lion, sadly missed guy, lovely story teller
Jinky Johnstone in place of Stanley Matthews on the right and Kenny Dalglish up front playing just a little behind either Law or Greaves and that's a team good enough to win the World Cup.
This makes me realize what a loss Duncan Edwards was. Jim Baxter was a truly world class player who like Best squandered his gifts. Edwards was a model professional who according to Bobby Charlton was the best player he had ever seen. I would've picked Edwards instead of Bobby Moore & played Baxter in midfield!
Dixie Dean not even mentioned, unbelievable, I would have thought Ball would have said something. The two greatest strikers ie goal scorers are Grieves and Dean, fact. No body scored more.
Yes, McGrory scored more than Dean and Greaves. McGrory scored 491 goals in 484 (1.01%) Top Flight League, Cup & International games. Greaves scored 466 in 659 (0.71%) Top Flight League, Cup, League Cup, Europe & International games. Dean scored 356 in 413 (0.86%) Top Flight League, Cup & International games. (He also scored 69 in 76, Div 2 & 3 games. 425 in 489 overall ( 0.87%). I'd have McGrory & Greaves in my side.
They should have called it 'UK XI of when these guys were young'. I disagree with leaving out Kenny Dalglish and Stuart Pearce specifically, but it's the fact there's not one player who made their name in the '80s or early '90s.
By the same token, probability suggests there should also be more pre-war players. I don't really know, but Dixie Dean? Billy Meredith? Jimmy McGrory? Though maybe we lack the film to judge them. Maybe just name a post-war XI.
Fine selection, except Dalglish has to be in- instead of Law. Rush (devastating partnership with him) and Shearer possible challengers to Greaves. Finney the equal of Matthews. They didn't mention many old greats from before WW2, like Billy Meredith, and of Scottish wingers, did they mention Eddie Gray? Giggs of course has achieved a lot since age 22 here.
Frank McLintock had it dead on, Dalglish & an out n out goalscorer is a much better partnership than 2 out n out goalscorers. Dalglish was Liverpools best ever player & look what Rush was able to do when he played with Dalglish, look at the goals he scored thru Dalglish being so great... Dalglish & either Law or Greaves would have been the perfect choice IMO.
Tavy@ law and greaves would never have worked. Seemingly greaves was brilliant alright. But lazy alot of the time. Law wouldv whent mental. Well he did with george best And best was never lazy. He just didnt pass enough times lol. But george best has got to be in any team. Even alan ball said "for 8 years george was the greatest player in the world. He was for at least 2 year untuchable, and just brilliant to watch. He could do anything, if he was english george wouldv won england the world cup not once but 3 times. On the big stage he wouldv been awesome! Yes best was in a class of hes own. He made football look fun to play! R.i.p george
Why would you want a striker who runs about like a headless chicken? Dropping back unnecessarily when you could score 30+ a season by doing what Greaves did...he was a unique striker and the best striker we have produced in the UK.
Law and Greaves doesn't work at all, two magnificent goalscorers who didn't really care about anything other than goalscoring. Has to be Dalgleish and another in my opinion.
Dixie Dean. 60 goals in a season. A record that still stands. Has to be in it.
Loved Alan Ball, i even bought white footy boots because of him and i think Alan Hinton, top dog continentals they were called, Alan Ball would tackle a giant, heart of a lion, sadly missed guy, lovely story teller
Incredible analyses of Greaves & Law.

Jimmy Greaves and John Charles up front and put Dave Mackay alongside Bobby Moore at the back. Swap Matthews for Finney.
Dixie Dean not even mentioned, unbelievable, I would have thought Ball would have said something. The two greatest strikers ie goal scorers are Grieves and Dean, fact. No body scored more.
Jimmy McGrory?..
Yes, McGrory scored more than Dean and Greaves.

I'd have McGrory & Greaves in my side.
Hughie Gallagher 545 played 387 scored .71 per game
No Dixie Dean?
these teams would have won world cups if we had Great British teams throughout decades
With what statistic could these people possibly leave Dalglish out. Absolute madness. Why not put Rush in also this being a British team.
Dalglish-Rush was the most deadly partnership, so yes
They should have called it 'UK XI of when these guys were young'.

Hughie Gallagher the wee Scots lad the greatest centre forward newcastle ever had.
Ray Wilson Again?!!! Fucking Bollox

No Baxter, Bremner or Dalglish, their having a laff.
Lemme guess where you're from haha
Frank McLintock had it dead on, Dalglish & an out n out goalscorer is a much better partnership than 2 out n out goalscorers.

Billy Sleel.
Dalglish and Lineker.
Lineker? Dream on, the liberal twat does not deserve to be any place near.

Greaves lazy? Look at his goal scoring record, is that lazy?
Yes Alan George Best is the greatest ever!
Why would you want a striker who runs about like a headless chicken? Dropping back unnecessarily when you could score 30+ a season by doing what Greaves did...he was a unique striker and the best striker we have produced in the UK.
Denis Law was a very good player but Kenny Dalglish was better.
Law and Greaves doesn't work at all, two magnificent goalscorers who didn't really care about anything other than goalscoring. Has to be Dalgleish and another in my opinion.
Hendry ??? COLIN HENDRY ???
hahahahaha.
