  • This video is a general overview of the annual maintenance of the Mini Mate Motorcycle Pop Up Camper made by Kompact Kamp Trailers.
    In this video, I will cover torque specs, lubrication, tire inspection, and a brief overview of wheel bearing maintenance. I am not a mechanic, nor am I any kind of an expert on the subject matter. This video is for entertainment purposes, and if anyone learns anything, then that is a bonus.

    Your are very quietly becoming a tech for your bikes and trailers. Thats how we all learn. One project at a time. You did a great job walking us through it. Also, i lobe the 360 cam panning as youre walking around, facinating!

      What's the saying... one learns from making mistakes... I've learned a lot, and I have much to learn 🤔🙄🤣🤣
      The 360 makes the garage videos fun, you don't have to think about where to point it, but I've learned it's best to keep the 360 as close as possible, it still captures everything, then choose what you want when editing. Thank you for your positive feedback, Eric ✌️😁👍

      Well, whoever says a spreadsheet geek bean counter, who knows how to change the toner in a photo copier, doesn't know how to service wheel bearrings, well um ah, sadly he probably would be right. But I'm workin' on trying to prove 'em wrong 🤔🙄😆. Thanks Patrick ✌️😎👍

      I'll be using it, because the job didn't exactly finish easily. I have to re-do one hub, I really don't know what I'm doing, so this tool will come in handy for me to keep an eye on whether or not I've messed up re-installing everything 🤪🤣

      @@SpyderWayne there was good information in the blah’s. How to know if a wheel bearing is going bad. How to check the tire wear using the spare.
      The recommendations of checking by mileage the various times etc.
      I carry my infrared camera as another method of heat checking items but it’s not as accurate as the IR thermometer.

      @@SpyderWayne I acquired a little motorcycle camper like that in a vehicle trade and didn’t do any research on the cost of them. Put it on marketplace advertising for $800 and a guy came and bought it the next day. 😒

    • @SpyderWayne
      @SpyderWayne  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @North by Southeast At $800, I'm sure the buyer is one super happy camper. There's very little used inventory of moto campers out there, so used ones sell fast, usually for a lot more than $800.

    I removed the wheel hub beauty covers so I can touch the bearing housing with my finger at most gas stops or at least once per trip. I squirt grease into my bearing buddy if the bearings feels hot which is at about a couple of thousand miles. No issues or bearing repack so far in 10 years or 100+ nights. I also feel and look at the tire surface too and no tire problems so far. I will use an infrared heat thermometer if I can’t touch bearing if I get a larger trailer. My SUV tows a Livin Light QuickSilver 6…a bit big for a bike admittedly.

    • @SpyderWayne

      Yes, a 2020 RTL. When I'm not towing, I get about 34 to 35 mpg. When towing, about 30 to 32 mpg. I ride solo, l'm widowed, lost my angel 10 yrs ago.

    Thank you for sharing your experience. I have a question: What is the tyre size on your camper?

    • @SpyderWayne
      @SpyderWayne  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      4.80 X 8" Tire and Wheel assembly. The tires are Kenda Loadstar (tubeless), load range B with a max load of 590 lbs per tire, so plenty strong enough for my Mini Mate which weighs 260 lbs empty, and between 400 and 450 lbs fully loaded, depending on time of year (I carry a little more gear in colder weather).
