I’ve found this super helpful because real rolling doesn’t look exactly like drilling. The concepts are the same but the positions get murky. So seeing the system work under pressure over and over with variation introduced is so engaging and illuminating. Thank you and keep it up!!!
Any time you ask if “we would like a video Gi or no Gi” just know the answer from ALL OF US shall forever be YES my guy so don’t even worry about asking us we love it and need it 🙏❤️ 🥋
I'm a blue belt and this might be the best side control escape video I've watched. You accurately show just how difficult it is to escape side control while narrating your way through your escapes. Very well done! I have a greater appreciation for underhooks now.
Brilliant. Definitely need the GI version with Alex. Maybe even escaping different variations of side control too as this is my least favorite position and hardest to escape especially when the guy is bigger/stronger. Thanks again man!!!
I’ve learnt so much from your videos dude.. for real. The content is appreciated - I rarely see any dislikes on your videos!! Oh and yes- definitely a GI version too at some stage!! Keep them coming!! 👊🏾
I see side control I clicked. I've learnt so much escape of side control from Andre Galvao, Marcelo Garcia, Brian Peterson, Rener Gracie, Alexander Ribeiro, but there's one thing I miss. All the escape I've learnt is from same size opponent not bigger stronger and more skill. The last time I got in side mount position a 265lbs dude pinned me and I can't move All the techniques I've learnt gone in seconds. Any tips for me sir?
@@counterkidnapping1737 agaisnt bigger people the concepts are all the same but just more difficult to pull off. Against a big guy I'd definitely try to escape the exact same way I do in the video. Underhook! 🙂
Thank you so much for this conceptual teaching style. So much easier to understand concepts than specific moves without knowing why we are doing them. Found your vids a few days ago and have already deployed some of the concepts in class! 🤙
Really love the constant commentary and insight to your mind. I also appreciate those saying like don't let anyone grab your head and tree arms. Very helpful for someone just starting like me 🙏🏽
Man. I love your videos and live rolling. The focus on grip fighting and these subtle yet absolutely fundamental tips like T. rex arms, under hooks, controlling the head are absolute gold. Thank you for these brilliant videos and just love to see the tips and live commentary. Anything around the fundamentals in Gi with live rolling are always going to be my go got to library. Thanks Jordan and Nikki. Oss 🤙
Incredible vid and very helpful commentary. It's very helpful (especially to a noob such as myself) when you break it down in "slow mo" and show the actions twice. Thank you. 🤘🤘
Great video! This is actually what I’m struggling with. I requested classes focused on side escapes and my professor has set it up! I’m still hungry and enjoy seeing all angles from other instructors.
I live your videos. I always learn a lot and can take it to the mat. Thanks so much for putting time into this to help us. My number one struggle is definitely escaping side control.
I found your channel maybe a bit over six months ago. I am new to BJJ, coming up on my one year, and your content has been a huge help. To answer your question, anything you put out will always be appreciated, yes gi and no gi. I suppose the areas I’ve been having the most troubles with have been with gi specifically because the grips frustrate the heck out of me. No gi is def my preference :).
Excellent video as always. Would love to see a video on principles of attacking and controlling from mount, strategies for isolating arms, preventing the elbow escape, etc.
Simply excellent explanations. Narrating the roll and technique is better than love instructions even. Thank you so much. All the best in your journey and sincerely thank you for helping with mine
Great video coach Jordan! I would say that the advantage that these videos have over traditional technique breakdowns is the opportunity to see every technique, transition, submission etc. being implemented against live resistance. Keep up the great work :)
Superb video Jordan! Side control is one of my worst positions I'll work on achieving the under-hook & protecting my head such simple things in BJJ but they're not spoken about in classes.
Specific training videos like this where you are training a single position over and over is super helpful. Especially bad positions. I would love to see more videos like this. Great stuff 👊🏼
Last and this week we're working from side control in class, so this video came at a great time!!!! I recently found your channel and I really enjoy how straight forward and quick your videos are. You do a good job of explaining why we do these little details and it's easy to retain :)
This was a great video, I liked the slow down and thought process commentary. Would be cool to see a couple of different opponents who give you different problems in each position broken down like this. Enjoy all your videos man, cheers
probably won't be seen, but I want you to know, that your videos has helped me improve my sparings so much, as a white belt, who has been working for less than 6 months, I am now able to submit most of the white belts and even blue belts, just by remembering things I've listened to you say in your videos
Being a smaller white belt i spend 90% of my time framing and defending in other peoples side control or stuck in north south... ur videos are awesome thanks!
Thank you for this, I’m a white belt and been having a hard time escaping side control. I usually end up exhausting myself trying to get on my side and shrimp before my opponent give me space during transitions. I will definitely keep this in mind to take advantage of my opponents movement that may create openings before attempting to escape
Love the commentary, very helpful especially about the knee position, where he could have been injured. I'm having to be very careful about that after knee and ankle surgery.
@@JordanTeachesJiujitsu thank you very much your videos have helped tremendously since they put a focus on the underlying principles behind the techniques you show
Hey coach, you are the best online coach by far, can’t thank you enough. My worst positioning Bjj is side control, and when someone is control of my hips in high crotch ( wrestling 🤼♀️). Thanks coach
3:43 Huge revelation for me. Losing control of your arm caused a huge chain reaction of trying to scramble out of a submission attempt only to have your back taken. Whenever you post live rolling videos you are almost never having to fight out of a submission attempt. That tells me that keeping control of your arms is absolutely critical. But then again, you always tell us this. Just good to see a live example.
