So for those who don't know Hypno's had a few creepypasta's based on him. But it mainly comes from the fact that in one of it's pokedex entries, it says that Hypno once kidnapped a child and it was never found. And the song that Hypno sings at the start is a slightly altered version of a song that the Hypno sings in the original Creepypasta. Also if you're wondering why Hypno turns into... that in the second song. According to the creator (Who also created the Tricky Mod) since Hypno is a psychic type Pokemon. It just put all of it's energy in it's head and his body went completley limp and got detached from his head. You can even see his head seperating from the body a bit in the first song. The character in Monochrome is Gold. The protagonist in the second generation of Pokemon games. But he's based on a creepypasta known as Lost Silver. Which is a long enough story so I'll just explain everything that got referenced. The reason why Gold looks like that is because he would gradually begin to look worse and worse in the menus. Eventually just becoming a head. The funny looking text are actually Pokemon called Unown. There's different forms of Unown for every letter of the alphabet along with an exclamation point and question mark form. Unown are strange Pokemon and a lot of stuff in Pokemon games is spelt with Unowns. The reason why they're here is because in the creepypasta, Unown's would appear in the player's party with no explanation and spell out stuff. Like "HEDIED" for example and "GETOUT". And finally the fairy thing in the corner is a Celebi. In the creepypasta, the player gets into a battle and has a level 100 shiny Celebi, that's missing half of it's body. With the only move it knows being Perish song. Perish song makes all Pokemon who heard it faint in 3 turns. Since it's the Celebi's only move. They are forced to use it and both the Celebi and the other trainer's Pokemon end up dying because of it. This is why the Celebi's singing in this mod lowers your max HP. And I doubt I have to explain MissingNo. But to cover everything. MissingNo. was a glitch in the original Pokemon games and he had a variety of effects like giving you 255 of a certain item or just completley breaking your game. You fight MissingNo. at the coast of Cinnibar Island because that is where MissingNo. was orignally found, by surfing on the coast of the island. Hope this taught you something new!

The issue wasn’t the pendulum becoming faster, it’s because that sound you hear is hypno forcing you to become slightly more hypnotized, and he does this much more often throughout the song.

Actually the reason he looks dead in the second phase is cause he focused all of his mental power to his head to kill gf (banbuds explained this in his Hypno q&a)
I don’t know why most people don’t do this, but the best way to do the typing parts is to look at the whole word instead of struggling to figure out each letter. Your brain naturally tries to fill in the blanks for letters you can’t recognize, as long as you know the word. Then it just becomes a challenge of spelling.

Unown and WingDings are similar because you either would have to know what each Unown letters and WingDing symbol means or you have to look it up what they mean. The only difference is that Unown and WingDings are known at different times. The FNF Neo mod got an update with new cutscenes
This mod is awesome! Monochrome and missingno are absolute bops lol I'm glad you played it, watching the gameplay was really fun, more so with the commentary. also bfs vocals are really good
With how many creepypasta mods are coming out, this has to be one of the most creative. Having to keep the beat to not get hypnotized, actively fighting against the monster's power, is such a cool idea!
I find it interesting that Creepy Pasta culture is adapted amazingly in quite a lot by FNF Mods. Sonic.exe, Suicide Mouse, Hypno's Lullaby... and they are all high quality too! :D

This is one of the most well-polished mods in terms of gimmicks, but damn...it ain't easy! Specially the 2nd song, the charts are not a problem but the mis beat spacebar throws me off really hard.

Some Funfacts I haven’t read yet: Gf lost to Hypno after the 2nd song and got hypnotized. Banbuds posted a small animation on Twitter where you can see Hypno’s Arm dragging her into or through the woods. Even though the Hypno in this mod is male, he has fluffy neck fur like a female Hypno. Also, the fur is a bit longer and brown instead of white. Celebi only has one side of its body. It used to be pink since it was a shiny Celebi, but after a fight between Gold (the Character you sing against in Monochrome) and Red (Protagonist of the previous game and Pokemon Champion, I think), both Celebi and Red’s Pikachu died, which probably is the reason why it looks so terrifying. After the fight, Red missed his head. Gold has no true intentions of harming Bf, which is why he just returns to the dark when you get a Game Over. The mod happens after the happenings of Lost Silver. Gold is undead and held alive by some strange power. In hell mode, the pendulum swings faster. Also, during Monochrome, you have to press the arrow keys and both press the space bar to the beat and type the words out. While fighting MissingNo, the arrows glitch out more and you have to type in a few words, which mostly only consist out of ‘MISSINGNO’. Safety Lullaby, Left Unchecked and Monochrome all use a leitmotif from Lavender Town Melody of Pokémon Red and Blue. Those are the things I came up with, I might edit the comment if I find some more.
I love how this mod combines base Pokémon with the Pokémon creepypastas as well as Friday Night Funkin’, Ban Buds really have outdone themselves with this mod.
You could play inscryption, it's a cool 4 th wall breaking game. I think it's fitting for your channel? Not gonna say anything else because it's good to experience on your own
Hypno's Lullaby, probably the 2nd mod to have a secondary "health bar" based on gimmicks (Dusttale the first I can think of through the white notes). Possibly also the current hardest mod, with woops getting a friend online to do space bar for the 2nd song. I might try it myself one day to confirm. Strategies may include learning to use arrow keys rather than a typical 4 key set up, and I've heard a guy had another keyboard where he used his foot for spacebar. The timing is when the pendulum is at the center, but you can also look at Girlfriend's idle bops if the pendulum's strange, I've noticed.
For monochrome, He usually says "im dead", and introduces himself, but once u fail him a few times, he says "I'm Mad.", seemingly a bit fustrated if fail his song, keep trying, and failing it again. He's a sad and empty husk, and doesn't really want to kill you, as he just goes back into the shadows if you fail his song. The pokemon in the back appears, singing perish song, in a reference to what happened in the creepypasta.
Every time Merg uploads FNF I dive tackle my computer to watch it, to see him try out one of the creepypasta mods is really cool, hopefully he'll play one of the V.S. Pibby mods like: Finn & Jake or Steven Universe
I just noticed that GF actually helps keep the rhythm of the pendulum and spacebar. As to when you need to try to press it, maybe on hypnos turn, or when it slows down for you to get a couple of presses in but on hard might not be possible.
My favorite part of this mod might be the fact that the pendulum in hypno’s hand in the first song is separate from hypno’s animation. It sways without an end and is just so slow and smooth, regardless of how violently hypno jerks. It’s so expertly done. That aside, you might have to pull an 8bitryan and stretch the hamstrings :)
You are the fastest TH-camr I know to understand the type mechanic in Monochrome, you understood the H in your second try, which is apparently the hardest one for other TH-camrs.

Unown and WingDings are similar because you either would have to know what each Unown letters and WingDing symbol means or you have to look it up what they mean. The only difference is that Unown and WingDings are known at different times. The FNF Neo mod got an update with new cutscenes

With how many creepypasta mods are coming out, this has to be one of the most creative. Having to keep the beat to not get hypnotized, actively fighting against the monster's power, is such a cool idea!
I find it interesting that Creepy Pasta culture is adapted amazingly in quite a lot by FNF Mods. Sonic.exe, Suicide Mouse, Hypno's Lullaby... and they are all high quality too! :D

It's interesting to see merg who is quite frankly good at this game doing a very challenging mod.
This is one of the most well-polished mods in terms of gimmicks, but damn...it ain't easy!
Specially the 2nd song, the charts are not a problem but the mis beat spacebar throws me off really hard.

Some Funfacts I haven’t read yet:
Gf lost to Hypno after the 2nd song and got hypnotized. Banbuds posted a small animation on Twitter where you can see Hypno’s Arm dragging her into or through the woods.
Even though the Hypno in this mod is male, he has fluffy neck fur like a female Hypno. Also, the fur is a bit longer and brown instead of white.
Celebi only has one side of its body. It used to be pink since it was a shiny Celebi, but after a fight between Gold (the Character you sing against in Monochrome) and Red (Protagonist of the previous game and Pokemon Champion, I think), both Celebi and Red’s Pikachu died, which probably is the reason why it looks so terrifying. After the fight, Red missed his head.
Gold has no true intentions of harming Bf, which is why he just returns to the dark when you get a Game Over.
The mod happens after the happenings of Lost Silver.
Gold is undead and held alive by some strange power.
In hell mode, the pendulum swings faster. Also, during Monochrome, you have to press the arrow keys and both press the space bar to the beat and type the words out. While fighting MissingNo, the arrows glitch out more and you have to type in a few words, which mostly only consist out of ‘MISSINGNO’.
Safety Lullaby, Left Unchecked and Monochrome all use a leitmotif from Lavender Town Melody of Pokémon Red and Blue.
Those are the things I came up with, I might edit the comment if I find some more.

Hypno's Lullaby, probably the 2nd mod to have a secondary "health bar" based on gimmicks (Dusttale the first I can think of through the white notes). Possibly also the current hardest mod, with woops getting a friend online to do space bar for the 2nd song. I might try it myself one day to confirm. Strategies may include learning to use arrow keys rather than a typical 4 key set up, and I've heard a guy had another keyboard where he used his foot for spacebar. The timing is when the pendulum is at the center, but you can also look at Girlfriend's idle bops if the pendulum's strange, I've noticed.
I tried to use girlfriend but left unchecked is just way too hard. Also 8-bit Ryan LITERALLY used his foot to hit the space bar
It's so lovely knowing our Beloved cherry is a Pokémon fan.
For monochrome, He usually says "im dead", and introduces himself, but once u fail him a few times, he says "I'm Mad.", seemingly a bit fustrated if fail his song, keep trying, and failing it again. He's a sad and empty husk, and doesn't really want to kill you, as he just goes back into the shadows if you fail his song.
The pokemon in the back appears, singing perish song, in a reference to what happened in the creepypasta.
Every time Merg uploads FNF I dive tackle my computer to watch it, to see him try out one of the creepypasta mods is really cool, hopefully he'll play one of the V.S. Pibby mods like: Finn & Jake or Steven Universe

I just noticed that GF actually helps keep the rhythm of the pendulum and spacebar. As to when you need to try to press it, maybe on hypnos turn, or when it slows down for you to get a couple of presses in but on hard might not be possible.

My favorite part of this mod might be the fact that the pendulum in hypno’s hand in the first song is separate from hypno’s animation. It sways without an end and is just so slow and smooth, regardless of how violently hypno jerks. It’s so expertly done. That aside, you might have to pull an 8bitryan and stretch the hamstrings :)
You are the fastest TH-camr I know to understand the type mechanic in Monochrome, you understood the H in your second try, which is apparently the hardest one for other TH-camrs.

Also @Merg I found out that on Safety Lullaby, the first song, to survive, you can alternate between pressing the spacebar for pendulum on Hypno's turn, and also using the two hands on your turns. Or you can constantly do it. I don't know how to do Left Unchecked, the second song yet, but I will try to figure it out.

Hey Merg! I reccomend you to check out vs Starving Artist: Retaken Sanity. The events in this mod come after the original week of Starving Artist. So the two might be seperate mods. But It's a great mod overall, and I am süre you will enjoy it!
To play this mod I'd need to set a metronome in time with the pendulum to keep my self in rhythm.
