  • At 1:00pm today, CROW returns E8 back to the nest. Cams were turned off so this video starts when the cams were turned back on. E8 slept slept most of the afternoon after such a stressful experience. Both E7 and E8 are together again with Harriet & M15. Thank you CROW and SWFLEC for your successful rescue and return of E8. Thank you for watching! Courtesy of Southwest Florida Eagle Cam Foundation and Dick Pritchett Real estate www.dickpritchettrealestate.co...

I just started watching this nest last year with e9. I was watching your most recent upload of e10 and e11, and came across this video. Poor e8 had a rough beginning having to be rescued twice. Hope he's doing ok now

"On Feb. 9, E8 had to be cut free from the nest after getting monofilament fishing line wrapped around its leg and foot cutting off circulation and causing swelling. E8 was taken to the CROW clinic for treatment and released back to the nest 3 days later. The young eaglets continued to thrive and develop into juvenile eagles, fledging the nest on April 16th (E7) and May 3th (E8).
But as the nest started to deteriorate, the eagles were attacked by an owl on May 7. E7 returned the next day, E8 did not & feared dead. On May 13th, volunteers found E8 alive in a nearby neighborhood with a broken leg. E8 was again admitted to CROW for rehabilitation and recovery. After nearly 3 months at CROW, E8 was released back into the wild on August 18th. "

Oh Lady Hawk. Developers in Pgh Pa made a decision today to take Dorothy and LLouie's 4 peregrine babies from them because they are disrupting their workers. They knew the nest was there. Cruel. They cannot wait 3 more weeks. Poor babies and parents

How did that happen from the nest or were they flying around the water?? Thanks for your reply!!

I'm not sure, I just remember reading that in the blog. The baby couldn't fly yet, so probably the eagles built the line into the nest, after someone carelessly discarded a piece of litter where wildlife could easily pick it up, and being a non natural plastic material, the parents' attempts to remove just further tightened it. It comes back to people being irresponsible.
