    Hi, I am Syrian and live in Saudi Arabia. I got covid-19 and must spend 10 days quarantine. Learning how to knit a teddy bear helps me in doing so.Thanks for sharing all this valuabl information. I enjoy following you chanel.

    Here in Venice, Florida and have to let you know how much I enjoy your videos. I made a little cotton
    Rabbit a couple years ago but it just didn't come out looking all that great. I nearly threw her away but hated to part with her so she stayed buried in my closet. After watching your youtubes I got her out and analyzed what I was disappointed in and yes, it was her face I had embroidered. I picked out the stitches and kept redoing it till I was happy. Thank you for your encouragement. She now sits on a shelf proudly on display. Oh, I also put a teeny bit of blush on her with powder blush. Can't wait to try another one and this time I will use a much nicer yarn like you recommend. Now I am intrigued with the Mary Jane Tearoom bears! Thank you again for such wonderfully fun videos.

      That makes me so very happy to know that your little bunny is now proudly sitting out on your shelf for all to see!! And it really usually comes down to the face that is what disappoints us. It's the hardest part to get right. I redo the faces over and over again because I either messed up the embroidery, made the eyes weird or sewed on a snout crooked. And I have a friend that just moved to Venice, FL and she has been sharing so many gorgeous photos of the city! Makes me want to move there!!! 🌴🌊🌞

    How kind of you, Elise!!
    I appreciate your encouragement to less experienced knitters - anyone with basic skills should go for it! I agree. Often we only need someone to believe in us when we tend to doubt our abilities. It's one of the things I love about you.
    I appreciate seeing your earlier work side by side with this little girl. We all improve over time if we do the work. I'm excited to see what you will do next! Hugs...

      Thank you so much, Violet! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! And I also think it's helps tremendously to see projects side by side to see the progress. I think we can get discouraged sometimes when we feel like we're not improving, but if you really look back you actually are! Hugs to you, sweet lady!!

    I just have to tell you how much I love your channel. You are such a breath of fresh air and I can’t stop watching your videos. I’m a SAHM (from Raleigh!) and started learning crochet at the beginning of quarantine. I’ve made a ton of blankets so far, but just absolutely adore amigurumi. There’s just something about them that takes me back to my childhood and makes me feel so content and peaceful while I’m creating them. I ordered the Pica Pau book based on your recommendation on Tuesday and just finished Victor the Frog. I can’t decide whether to do Harry Wolf or Huge Bat next! Thank you so much for all the hard work and love you put into your craft. You’re truly an inspiration!

    Hi from Tennessee! Really enjoying your knitted and crochet toys and tips! I consider myself an experienced knitter doing quite a range of projects, including sweaters, baby blankets, socks, hats, felted mittens, scarves, totes, etc and a few toys too. I really appreciate your tip to get the face right first! And as I looked back on my toy making experience, my biggest frustration has been trying to finish the face! So now, when I get the face done first, I really enjoy the remaining pieces!

    The dolls are amazing and really easy. Not exactly for a beginner, though, you have to have a steady tension. My first one was frustrating because my tension was off. I was not a purl knitter. But indeed : it is a very good pattern to practice the skills and the end result is wow!

    New subscriber to your channel. I agree that MJTs patterns are so Devine. She was the first pattern that I made. I actually taught myself how to knit and purl just so I could make Candy Bear for my grandchildren. They all turned out beautiful. Like you I also crocheted but had never knitted. I didn’t have access to all the special yarns that the pattern called for just what was available at Hobby Lobby and Michaels and the bears still turned out beautiful. I also love Alan Dart toy patterns, I have done Humpty Dumpty and Scooby Doo.

    I have made many crochet amigurumi and have been so inspired by your TH-cam channel and your knitted toys. I purchased the book, Knitted Animal Friends, and after trying to knit the bunny head, i keep getting stumped at the "m1pr" and "m1pl". I am obviously doing something wrong. It's frustrating because i have to pull out the entire piece to start over. I have, instead, decided to make the body first and so far, so good. 😊. Thank you for your words of encouragement. Will definitely check out Mary Jane's Tearoom knitted toy patterns. 😊

    I love the teddy bear 🧸 I want to thank you 🙏🏼 for the inspiration ; i do knit a bit I did go to Mary Jean tearoom and fall in love ; I also purchased the elephant 🐘 pattern and Romeo the bear pattern they are adorable
    I do have a question For you about the yarn 🧶 can you recommend a yarn that I can get from a store like hobby lobby, Joann, or Michaels I don’t like ordering online

      Hello! I used yarn from those stores for crocheted toys, but not for knitted ones. I've heard a lot of good things about the I Love This Yarn from Hobby Lobby. They also have a cotton yarn as well in the same brand. But you may want to ask in the Mary Jane's Tearoom Facebook group. I bet there are a lot of people who can help and advise there! 🐻🐻🐻

    Greetings from Alaska! Thank you, once again, for a great tutorial and resource on the yarns used! I'm getting frustrated with the yarn I have been buying because it's all wrong :( And I bought a lot of it *sigh* . I found the stuffing tool that I use-and have used, for many years on eBay. I apologize-I told you it was possibly made by Dritz, when in fact it is by a company called Prairie Farm Designs. I believe they are now defunct, as the date on the package insert says 1992 (told you I've been using this tool for a long time, LOL). It's called a STUFF-IT II, and I would check on eBay for it.

    • @EliseRoseCrochet
      @EliseRoseCrochet  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello again!! You have been using it a long time!! Too bad they no longer make the tool! The right yarn for knitting/crocheting toys can make all the difference!! 🧶🧶🧶

    My first knitting project was a teddy bear and I was able to create him without too many problems. But then I taught myself crochet and am totally dedicated to amigurumi. I would love to make a MJT doll. Do you think it is too difficult for an inexperienced knitter. I have been watching videos on knitting in the round because I really dislike seaming and assembly. The less, the better. Any thought?😊

    • @EliseRoseCrochet
      @EliseRoseCrochet  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Since you have already made crocheted amigurumi and have already knitted a teddy bear, I doubt you will have any problems. These are the best written knitted toy patterns I have ever come across. They are so clear and easy to understand. Plus she has the option for you to knit them in the round! You should definitely go for it! 💓

      Speaking of other knitting patterns, have you seen all the free Jean Greenhowe knitted dolls? They are SO cute. She has many small doll scrap yarn type patterns that I feel like are not so big to be daunting, and small enough for a newer knitter to be able to complete to practice. I think that would be a really great video: practicing on small cute free toy patterns! She has booklets to buy also on her website. Just type her name it should come up.

    Have you tried magic loop for knitting in the round? I find it easier than DPNs for many situations.

      @EliseRoseCrochet  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've just been working on a project with the magic loop and I have found that it is much easier for me than DPNs. I don't know if they can be used interchangeably or not with DPNs specifically for toys. Have you knit toys with the magic loop method? 💓

    • @kelleyjogirl
      @kelleyjogirl 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@EliseRoseCrochet Yes, I have! I use magic loop pretty much exclusively except for a few Susan B Anderson patterns that have shaping written specifically written for DPNs. (For example she might instruct you to decrease or increase on needle 2 but knit plain on needles 1 and 3.) For those it's easier to follow if I just stick with DPNs.

    I've made many of her patterns and the only thing I changed is I knit some of the flat ones in the round. If u have some of her patterns they r easy change from in the round to flat or the other way around. I would rather knit in the round because I hate to seam them up.
