I’ve got a Marlin 7 put a few upgrades on it like a dropper post, 4 piston shimano brakes and also tubeless tyres, works amazing and honestly couldn’t ask for a better hardtail

Just picked up the Marlin 8 Gen 2 and loving it, I had a trek in middle/high school (hate I don’t have pics/can’t remember the model) but it has reignited my love for riding…and taught me I’ve gotten mega out of shape since. The only thing I think I’m after is a dropper post, the standard is way too tall and I’d like to be able to adjust it on the fly.

Had my Red Marlin 7 2021 version for couple years now, it was mediocre when I bought it, I’ve spent about $1700 on upgrades like the tyres I upgraded to XR4’s instead of the xr2’s, changed the forks to the Marzzochi Bomber Z2 , a shorter stem, mtb seat, jet black pedals, Diety grips, and it runs so much better, an awsome hardtail and I’ve ridden a lot of brands, Trek will always be my go to brand tho I’ve owned 3 of them this is my 3rd Trek, anyway Runs so nice now,

There is no such this as a marlin 5 gen 3. I have the gen 2 marlin 5 in that blue color and it works pretty good for single track and small jumps. I would go for the Marlin 5 and just upgrade it to a 1x drivetrain.

The marlin 7 is the most pointless bike it still has a cool fork except it’s a rockshox coil fork instead of a sr-suntour coil fork, but besides that it’s the same as the marlin six. For the money it is better to just get the six and then upgrade the fork to a manitou markour or something.

My Marlin 7 is beast, but I’ve gotten bigger forks and bigger tubeless tyres Bontrager XR4’s instead of the xr2’s and the Marzzochi Bomber Z2 and it runs so nicely now, and a shorter stem also just because I hate a Long ass stem that you have to lean forward it feels crap and when your flying down a hill you haven’t got as much control, it looks a lot better now

If you are thinking of buying a Marlin 7, buy a marlin 8 instead it is only 100 dollars more
