Walking the tightrope without a net, every night, hundreds of shows each year. Traveling America's highways back before the Interstates were completed. Troopers! Never forget the great work the Dead's support personnel did to put on great shows at every stop.

Before I had heard this concert, I was just a casual dead listener. I listened to this one day and I quickly became obsessed. Thank you for uploading it!

For a once casual listener, you sure picked a gem. I am what you would call a fanatic, and this somehow stayed elusive to me til this moment. When I saw the song combo here, I about shat myself, it's like all my favorites packed together in one beautiful lsd soaked package.

      Time 11:19 6-19-23
Hey sisters and brothers I first heard about the new music happening in San Francisco back in the sixties when the straight media lost their shit over the LSD the heads were experimenting with. My father had joined the Army In 1946,so he already had 20 years in the military. Back then a soldier’s family could not take housing on the base if he was overseas. The military took over a recently abandoned Air Force base,in Salina Kanas .I became friends with a dude who had been living in the army base smack in middle of San Francisco
      no seats
no . He and his older brother had collected the handbills and posters that were everywhere around the city. They were obsessed with collecting anything related with the music coming out of the clubs and dance halls. I became as obsessed as they were.
On March 26 1971 was my first chance to attend a concert I Providence Rhode Island. I was close to the head of the line of a floor show, no assigned seating. As soon as I got through the door I looked at the stage and Garica was sitting on the edge of the stage. I went right over, said hello ,Jerry smiled. So I just asked him if I could sit behind the amps and he let me. Ramrod moved some equipment cases and I climbed upon the stage, was not high off the floor. When I went around the stack of amplifiers I find Bear dropping liquid acid onto the back of people’s hands. I stuck my hand out and he put 4 drops on the back and I licked it off. Things got really interesting rather quickly. I sat behind Pigpen for the entire show.At the end of the first set everyone was milling around and Garcia walked over to where I was and handed me a fat joint. So my first show and Jersey lets me on the bus and Owsly doses me. I passed the acid test and hooked up with Owslys acid and dmt dealer. I spent my time going to shows, selling Bears goods on tour. The money was going towards Bears masterpiece, the Wall Of Sound. I once asked Wier why nobody blinked an eye at me being there? He said “We knew you were home.”Grateful Dead only made my life far better than without,I met my wife in 1988 at a three day run of shows in,Providence R.I. which proved to be a powerful force my entire life. All I can say is,we will all be together for ever and ever when we make it to the promised land.Roll away the dew people 🖖🏽⚡️🎸⚡️

I'll take '67-'69- the full psychedelic Dead era. There are some great performances of the Anthem of the Sun material on TH-cam including a version of That's it for the Other One performed 10/22/67 with early alternate lyrics- my favorite, also New Potato Caboose and Alligator. This is a great Dark Star et al. I first saw the Dead in '73 at Winterland (age 18) and was sorry I was late to the party.

    • @davidr1676
      @davidr1676 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I'll take 65/66>74/75 then make sure to grab 77, 80-83, 85, 87-7/23/90, and after or outside those I will take random shows. the 65-75 and 77 just has to have psychedelics to grasp even if you've crossed the threshold of needing to drop often to not needing to, still things go better with dose.

Reminds of back in the day, one would roll a joint, offer it, spark it, toke and pass it around. After a while somebody pulls out another joint and goes around the other way. Then some flash rap might come up like the lyrics of this tune and we were stoned and hip to what was going around and round...

My oh my. This was my twelth birthday - It was still just a BIT before music really clawed into my brain and ruined me for all trivialities. Specifically dated: Hendrix died Sept 18, 1970. I was like, ho-hum. Duane Allman died Oct. 29, 1971 and I was CRUSHED. So right 'tween thereabouts.Of course I caught up with Hendrix later, but I CAN say the Mahavishnu Orchestra saved my life. Thanx, John! Oh, and Live/Evi. oh and Exile. oh and Layla. oh, and....
    etc.-cubed.

420 NOiZE a long strange fictional account... in English text...
Pay no attention unless you like semantics I guess (Snoop Dog explained Hockey to me,, on TH-cam...Not Mike Richter). That little Mikey is Badass! But ain’t seen him since BEFORE I got on any bus... YELLO is an old band that the CURE brought over. Yellow? Ask Ledbetter,
LED ZEPPELIN or TOOL! Ask Chris Martin COLDPLAY ! Not Chris Cornell, leave him alone HES DEAD!
      Yea, just like that Clown!
Wavy Gravy, I ain’t seen the Happy Clown since I insulted him last time in Philly, at my Home Town Show, my time to house the Hippies, instead of me sleeping on the bus or under it.
Never yell Hey! And who’s that clown on my couch? ... I was told.,. ‘Yes, he is ¡THE CLOWN! Man...! ->stop fukin with semantics ,,,MAN...’He’s Wavey Gravy!’ And I said ‘I hope he makes chicken and dumplings, that would be some good food!?’ I ate not food, we were the PBB People MAKING as much GRATEFUL FOOD as we could! The Family Could Not Be Avoided, we all have FAMILY obligations, the first time I have been happy near any clown until I acted like a nurd boi IN SERVICE TO THE ARTS in The Hamlet Of The Muses!
Big video boy (assistant to a fine videographer) Volunteering, (my weakness)The festival wanted him to have his ALL ACCESS TOWN / EVENT PASS! Picture ID!
NO SHIT THE NAME ‘WAVY GRAVY’!
      Beneath the adorable clown’s ‘selfie’
I’m valuable again! I was to randomly find THE CLOWN as he arrives in the village. That was my job, find him and make sure the HONORED GUEST is properly wearing his ID.? I am so ‘yesterday smart’So he could get into shows? Wavy thought it was funny as well. He asked me how I found him? Well I just looked and you were there ( ever seen the man?, invisible dog? Dressed like he does, with his entourage, Laughing with kids and his woman about some dumb kid who wants Wayy Gravy to wear a badge Pic ID so he can get into your own families venue? I still feel like I’m behind and ahead of time? No one lets me in any more, time for a PBB or Family alternative, The one dollar burrito 🌯 SMILE and pardon this MAN for name dropping but MY FRIEND SAYS I TEXT TOO MUCH CRAP but she will not sing with me. So I text this story. You mentioned him, tell him198X-2ko6 was a do/over. I’ll see him again... Hopefully with THE RED 🔻🌹💀🧘🏽‍♀️🙏💫🍁🇺🇸🎶 Sound Garden -> was a Harley Davidson? or an INDIAN? Or a yamahaaa?
Hey, read or not, get your own dream. I text crap.... I suck! Don’t leave hate on me please, laugh! Laugh 😂 readers, go dance please.
      Works for me bye.💀🌕🧘🏽‍♀️🔻🙏

A song by Kurenberg, a mid-twelfth century poet:
"Der tunkel sterne, der birget sich.
als tuo du, frouwe schoene, so du sehest mich.
so la du diniu ougen gen an einen andern man.
son weiz doch luetzel iemen, wiez under uns zwein ist getan.
    "The "dark star" hides itself.
Do likewise, beautiful lady, when you see me:
Let your eyes glance at another man,
And no one will know how things are between us."

My thought as well. NSB chronicled Altamont. Only weeks earlier. Clearly on their mind. Would be echoed five months later when Neil Young cranked out OHIO with his CSN mates within hours of hearing about Kent State.
Still rough here but no better place to rehearse something than in front of your audience.(;-)
