It’s so sad. And the fact that he tried to blame her and didn’t even apologize because “it wasn’t real” was just crazy.
This is a message for Catfishers: if you don’t want to explain yourself or apologize even though you most definitely should, just block the victim and move on. I’d rather be ghosted/ignored than you refusing to apologize to my face and trying to shift blame.

The Angel-Sharon situation was such a hot mess. “Sharon” didn’t even seem especially remorseful, just embarrassed and/or annoyed to get called out. And as a recovering addict myself, I understand that Angel probably felt betrayed to find out Kia lied about being a former addict; a huge part of recovery is making connections with other recovering addicts…addiction can be deeply alienating, no matter how widespread it is. So to make an emotional connection to someone & tell them all your deepest secrets and vulnerabilities, and then find out they were just making sh*t up & never actually related to anything you talked about…it’s a lot.

I talked 5 years with a guy online. Felt like he knew everything about me and in time I started getting attached to him too. He lived overseas and everyone said he was a catfish. All the signs were there. We would video chat and he wouldn’t turn his cam on, he saw pics of me but wouldn’t send me full pics of him. Etc etc etc. finally we decided to meet in real life and he sent me a face pic! He was cute! He flew to my country and we absolutely hit it off immediately at the airport then he stayed 3weeks. Turns out he was just really insecure with his body and rejection. He has anorexia. I love him anyways now we’re in it for the long run. I support him thru anything. He’s so attractive to me and I really do know what eating disorders are like. He’s been to see me 3 more times and this next time he’s staying 12weeks. Can’t wait. My “catfish” is now my fiancé!

This first catfish story actually reminds me of mine. I had met a girl online via a lesbian/bisexual app. She would send me pictures, lingerie photos, I didn't know about reverse Google image searching so I just kind of took her word for it. Then one day she got into a alleged car accident hitting another woman, again, allegedly. So she said she was hospitalized but wanted to FaceTime so I tried but no answer, she also stated that she was supposed to undergo surgery and was pulling the whole "what if I don't make it" lines yadayadayada. The next day I tried messaging her and I got a response from her mom???? On her account??? Saying "she didn't make it" I was talking to a friend of mine about the situation and they did some research saying that there are people with these fantasies and ideals that they transform themselves to be a catfish basically but it's just a character to make someone grow attached. Then they kill them off like some main character in an anime that is your storyline. I'm not sure what the end game is besides potential nudes or to cause harm to someone's mental health but it's truly sick.

OK, so, as a writer, I am BEYOND disgusted with the 1st guy. Writing a story involving a love triangle and a man who dies in surgery is COMPLETELY different from orchestarting the story in real life, with real people, who have real feelings. It's OK for that stuff to happen in stories because the characters it happens to are FICTIONAL and don't actually exist, so there are no real life consequences. A story is NOT an excuse to hurt real people for your own benefit, pleasure or entertainment. They're not chess pieces for you to play with 🙄🙄🙄

Thank God I wasn’t catfished a second time. After almost a year of excuses after our first date I got over him, tried on last time and met my future husband. So happy, so in love, a love like none I ever experienced before. He fought a blizzard, he travelled hours every weekend and he woke up 3 am to leave for work on a monday after sleeping at my house. just so he could see me. Saying yes to calling him on the phone 2 days after getting a match was the best decision ever. I love him 😂❤

I saw the 2nd conversation before my eyes... so I'm not surprised if this happens in catfish form. My best friend at the time married a troublesome woman who didn't even want him and got with other women AND men (later found out) before, during and after getting married to him; all the while her and her mom trying to inaccurately spread a rumor that I wanted him to ease their guilt. Look at the facts. I did not want him. I never was intimate with him. They convinced him that I was interested. I ended our friendship immediately laughing out loud and never spoke to any of them again. I warned him to look at her qualities that he would LIVE with. There are no right or wrong answers, but when you marry someone, you AGREE to who the person is, to an extent, so no blaming her if you are already aware of what she does! My life has been better than good since I dropped them. She did not want him either. She wanted women but fronted. She committed adultery more than ten times, both of their lives are a mess, he is in jail, she has kids by more than one man... and I have not seen nor spoken to them in almost 8 years. Yeah... I'm not the one in the feels LOLOLOL Congrats on... your mess?...
