The degreaser removes old, weathered lubricant from the nozzle and cap threads, which creates a like new anti-seize/lubricant application. More importantly, using this method will ensure that the caps will easily come off of the hydrant if/when there is ever an emergency, and the fire department needs to use the hydrant.
