The grill design on the 2.0lt model Is horrendously UGLY!

I completely agree... It is Horrendous, Horrible, Hideous, Heinous and just wrong!
Why would BMW think that this would be a good thing?
How can they think that soft contours with defined lines and convex/concave shapes would go well with crisscross lines front and center?
How could this design have passed the initial phase of development?

I think, due to sports cars influencing a lot design cues, having a "D" shaped steering wheel (aka "flat bottom" steering wheel) allows owners to emulate that "sporty feeling" that actual sports cars have.... Maybe
Another reason could be the knee clearance upon exiting and entering
And thirdly, having the flattened bottom area gives more space to rest the hands while driving.... maybe
(These are just guesses to be honest...)
