  • Larry Korn, author of One Straw Revolutionary, spent two years living and working on the farm of Masanobu Fukuoka, the legendary farmer and philosopher who introduced the world to the concept of natural (no-till) farming in his book The One Straw Revolution. Larry not only worked on Fukuoka's farm, he helped translate and edit One Straw Revolution, and was instrumental in getting it published in English. I spoke with Larry about the concept of natural farming, and about some of the problems we face in the world today that practices like natural and farming and permaculture (which are actually quite different) can help us to solve.

A wonderful conversation! Thank you both for making this happen. It's unfortunate but sadly not surprising that the content here can and should change the world - yet so few receive the message. Let's each of us play our part - no matter how big or how small - in making humanity remember: humans are a part of nature. Let us move forward understanding our role in the order of nature as a whole. We're all in this together, right?

I read this book back in 1985 as a 22 year old and it changed my life. I have since lost the book but the knowledge I gtained from its pages, has been with me a life time. Thank you so much for this post.

Great interview on the subject to both. I genuinely believe that the future is about it embracing recycling, free energy generation and ecological shelter construction as a holistic entity. For me, it's about all these things put into play together.
I hope to be able to start a community project to embrace these principles in Borneo and to incorporate into it the practice of a moneyless society as the ultimate ideal. This is the way forward as we have, for centuries and millennia, as humans have not evolved away from the inherent conflict of the monetary system dictated by the 5 senses, greed and the indoctrination of religion and stereotype education.
In a very short time, people with endless consumption with total disregard to limiting resources and cruelty to other sentient beings would be looked at with abhorrence, from people who have become woken and for those young ones who are increasingly being born different.
I hope my wish to start such project will kick-start what is to become a living example for others to follow around the world. The senseless and mindless movement of people towards the cities where job prospects are slim and living on endless debt seems to be the norm, must be questioned and end. We must change everything we are being taught from parenting, to school to what we do as individuals.
I write in the hope that you could get in touch so that we could have meaningful dialogue and hopefully something good comes out of it to be beneficial to humanity.
    A concerned human

I agree. For our own health and happiness we need to change our food production and lifestyle. Watch Paul Gautschi - Back to Eden.
