I’m extremely amateur with plants in general. I kept a regular green elephant ear plant alive throughout the NJ winter and they’ve gotten HUGE. I have a south facing bay window. I just shoved them on the ledge and prayed. Over watered like crazy. Didn’t loose any leaves or stalks really. About to sit it outside and see what they do now that spring is here.
Thank you so much for making this video, and especially thank you for filming an update for 3 months later. I'm getting a colocasia black magic delivered a few days from now and I'm trying to gather as much info as I can so I can hopefully at least keep it alive. Nile is so beautiful, you've done a fantastic job with her. I hope you feel good about nurturing and helping her be her best self!
Thank you soo much! Its a beautiful plant. I will make sure to do regular updates in my videos so you can see her progress indoors throughout winter and her transition back outdoors for Spring/Summer 🥰 Have you picked a spot for yours in your garden? I am so glad you enjoyed the video, thank you for watching! ❤
It's my birthday today but I really wanted to share Nile with you ❤ Fingers crossed for Anansi 👀😂 Thank you all for your support, it really means the world and helps to keep me motivated! Thank you! ❤
Love your video! I'm from Dallas, Texas and have this plant in my outdoor garden. I decided to permanently immortalize some of its leaves by making concrete casts of it. Makes beautiful wall art. You should try it. Tons of videos on TH-cam provides great instruction.
Wow!!! That's a fantastic idea!! I have never heard of that before! I am definitely going to look into that! Thank you so much for sharing it and for supporting all the way from Dallas!! 🤗❤❤
Thank you soo much!! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! Hopefully yours will do fine! Remember, plenty of moisture and make sure it has soon good sunlight! Any questions, give a shout! ❤
Thank you soo much. Yes I did. I was soo upset 😢 My one from last yesr had rotted away as it was outside.. I think the frost got it. Have you dug up & checked the corm this year?
😂 that black coral after-pot reveal though!! Oh my goodness ROTF. Very informative, thank you. Didn't realise just how huge Nile was until you were sat down!! Ps, PEOPLE...let's get 100 likes on the "My Most Expensive Ever Plant Haul, 4 Variegated Plants" video, so we can see the indoor cloud garden tour 😀...so close!!!
Aaahahahaha!! That heffa Anansi! What a mess! 🤦🏾♀️😂 I don't know how I have convinced myself I can rescue her either 🤣 Honestly, just wait till the houseplant tour. At this point it will be a full on comedy 🤣 Thank you so much for the support! Hopefully we can get to 100! ❤❤❤❤
I’ve been curious about the difference between black coral and black Magic. I have a black magic and a black Diamond. Black magic has a matte black feel and black Diamond had a reflective sheen that almost makes it white when it reflects light. What are characteristic of black coral? Also what is the lowest temperatures they can tolerate do you know?
The edges to my Black Magic were slightly more "ruffled" in appearance whilst my Coral (whilst she was alive) was a smoother heart shape. Nile was having trouble when the temperatures consistently dropped below 15 degrees, that's when I decided to bring her inside. She features in my brand new Bedroom Tour but she is not doing great indoors :( What are you doing with yours over Winter?
@@CloudGardenerUK temperature hasn’t dropped to frost just yet in California. I think once it does I’ll just bring it into the guest bathroom while the frost passes. I don’t to want force them to go dormant. I purchased mine dormant and dry and it felt like I spent most of early spring waiting for them to bounce back.
Wonderful!! Thanks to this video i found out i didn't do too wrong to my baby (arrived in bulb form, without leaves) In my big pot i put oxalis triangularis instead of black mondo grass, but it still look gorgeous!
Wow! I'm so glad the video was useful! I bet that container must be beautiful. @me on Instagram/FB or Twitter if you ever upload a pic, I'd love to see! ❤ Thank you for watching! ❤

Well making a mistake is a good excuse. I use it all the time when I get caught. I’m human after all. I have a black elephant ear in the backyard in a big pot with other things. I don’t want to lose him so I’m trying to find out if I should just repot him into a smaller pot for winter, let cool weather hit and wilt my leaves then repot for winter or just uproot him and repot while it’s still warm before bringing him indoors.
Somehow I have missed this video until now. Just thinking about the Mondo Grass, not sure how well that will do inside, but if you lose it over winter let me know a will send you some more as I have a large clump that will split easily. 👍😁😁
hi Dave! thank you I really appreciate that! Imagine.. it's Nile thats taken a turn for the worst.. the grass is doing ok! not what I was expecting at all 🙈🙈🤣
Here's a 2022 update on the Black Magic Colocasia, Enjoy! x:

You have such a calming, disarming demeanour. I came here to get advice on my little black magic beauty but I’ve had the bonus of your presence!
Aww.. thank you soo much! That means a lot! How is yours going?
I would like to have one of those beauties. Problem is I just have way too many skyscrapers to get enough sunlight!
