    • @clarabow2479

      @@brendahernandeznazario6740 - I wondered about this too - apparently don’t add more than 30% water and also try thinning paint with PVA and water. This will help bind the paint, stop the paint layers drying at different rates and so hopefully avoid cracking. I hope this helps, let me know how you get on 😉

      @rainberry8464 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@brendahernandeznazario6740 happens to me too. it's not because of the room, though.. i realised that i had been putting too much water on the paper while painting, which obviously makes the paper more fragile and easy to crack.. i think you should try drying your brushes a little more before you put them on the paper, and you'll be fine! after all, that's most definitely something you already do, so try doing it more carefully!

    • @rainberry8464
      @rainberry8464 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@brendahernandeznazario6740 basically i just fully realised what you meant.. i think you put water on your palette, like blend the colors with the water.. it's better if you only use water to wash your brush between changing colors.. put only the paint in your palette, and also have a cup of water next to it! it helps really much, as you can control the amount of water that will go to the paper way more easily:) you can have another piece of paper with you to test the water your brush has, and if you feel like it's too much, you can just wipe some out !!:) it's really better that way:) tell us how it went!!:)

    Lost for words. Been using brushes and pencils all my life, struggling for technical excellence and in a few short minutes, you have used the medium and physics to create such beauty. The technique is simple but genius. Stunning

      @Andrew Branch, Amazing comment!
      I've always felt like I was a painter, but when I would try it would end in disappointment and frustration... but with this "pour paint" technique, there's no right or wrong way and it's abstract, so it's much easier for me do and to enjoy. (I've only made 2 paintings so far! Lol And I have so much to learn, but at least it's enjoyable! I even made them on camera and posted my amateur videos on my Channel! Lol)
      @Life is Kumquat
      Loving this video and this music!
      I can't even imagine how much TIME it took to put all this together!!
      Thanks for sharing!!

      The artist makes it look easy, because that's what the truly talented do. Then you go to try do kill then it's not so easy as it looks. It really does take a great deal of talent. As with any other art form you either have it or you don't

      Andrew, you know, what you mean, it is like to see the gifference between european calligraphy and the japanese one. Contraction + consentration vs Release + meditation (you can't do mistake and critice or hate yourself on that). It's the whole philosophy... Sorry for my English, I live in Israel and don't speak English a lot.😊

    You can also use yarn ,to pull,it comes out like a field of flowers ,black paint on canvas,and use gold paint ,extraordinary. Beautiful glow , pouring paint over yarn gently,and then pull ,great results,

    Two questions: How long typically does the acrylic take to dry and do you have to treat the final product with some kind of sealant?

    • @LifeIsKumquat
      @LifeIsKumquat  3 ปีที่แล้ว +68

      Thank you! Acrylic pours typically take between 24 to 48 hours to fully dry to the touch. Once dry, you can leave as-is, or (after the paint has cured) finish over top with varnish or resin. My routine is multiple thin coats of Liquitex High Gloss Varnish to bring back shine and protect pigments from UV damage over time.

      @@LifeIsKumquat is the varnish sprayed or painted?

    • @LifeIsKumquat
      @LifeIsKumquat  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@mikha007 I add the varnish in circular motions with a smooth cloth in multiple thin coats, but adding via brush or spray are also very valid.
