I think it was more related to the quality of rubber used rather than a preponderance of 4wheeling that caused the boot to fail prematurely. They've got a new balljoint boot with a better rubber quality that will hopefully offer better longevity.
2:07 That little adapter piece is the death of me 😂 Forgot JBA uses those until _after_ I welded on the gussets, boy that was a fun time 😂 Also, JBA started changing boots in 2020 or 2021 due to complaints in tearing/cracking. I've yet to hear any complaints since then!
How do you like the JBA UCA’s and do you feel they corrected the issue with the new boot for the ball joint? Would love to hear an update as I’ve been interested in these aftermarket UCA’s for a year or two now.
They are great UCA’s for the price. Simple and easy, and because they use a ball joint instead of a heim or uni-ball, you Dont have to worry about squeaks and less maintenance. It’s a win win. - Sean
@@TimmyTheToolman Sean - Thanks for info, I’ve been looking at these because of that reason. I live in the Northeast and deal with heavy salt issues and the ability to grease the ball joint for me is a huge selling point. Thanks for your videos as well, you guys are an absolute treasure for the 4runner community
@@connorc.2723 we appreciate the kind words! We also have an install video on these so def check that out and drop a comment there if you have any questions about when doing your install! I have only had mine installed for a month and already the boots are leaking is it normal to have a lil grease at the bottom? Or do I need to replace the boots like you guys did?
We discuss at the end of the video that a pickle fork with at least 1” opening or more would be best, we used a pickle fork with a 7/8” opening and it was a tad too small. We also have a link in the video description to a kit that would have various sizes. - Sean
The stock factory UCA and ball joint will work just fine for his setup and last longer also. Agree with the aftermarket uniball type arms/poly bushings noise and premature wear, high maintenance.
Super simple to do if you have the right tools! Great video 🤙🏼
Thanks Chris for helping Sean create this video for our channel.
Easy to follow, clear, and concise video as always my dudes! Bravo on another one for the books.
Thanks Stevo. You made Sean's day.
You guys have videos for every job I could possibly need to do! Thanks again homies!
Well, almost, but thanks Dave.
Excellent video! Should help me when I need to replace the boots on my UCAs 👌🏼
Yep, Sean and Chris did a good job documenting it. Happy Wrenching!
You guys must be wheeling a lot to wear out the boot so soon, good on you

Great video man, I think I put way too much grease on the boot hope won’t affect anything.
@dannifl6329 Thanks! You'll be ok with the amount of grease you put on the boot.
Just the information I was seeking!! What a coincidence. That garage of yours looks familiar! -JScottySon
Glad we could deliver the information you needed.
Nice video Sean. Those tires are big. Do you know the size by any chance?

Would these boots work for stock parts 01 Taco 🙋
Toyota sells replacement boots for the OEM upper ball joints.
@@TimmyTheToolman tim do you use friction modifier on the LSD rear-ends when you change fluid I have 01taco ment almost 🙋
@@randyroth383 I've never heard that was necessary. I think most 75W-90 gear oils say their compatible with LSD differentials.
Hey Timmy quick question what does a mechanic do after a one night stand??
He busts a nut and bolts ⚡️

What lift/suspension set up does it have so the 315's can fit that you mentioned it had.
Radflo coilovers up front, about a 2.5-2.75” lift so nothing crazy. He tubbed his inner fenders to clear the 35’s (315’s). No body lift either.

Inspect it for cracks/tears. If you over-greased it, it might just be residual grease squirting out and may not be a problem
- Sean
@@TimmyTheToolman I am hoping its just overfilled bcuz I couldn’t tell if it was taking grease so I pumped a little bit more than 3-5 times 😅
That happened to us, just clean up the excess grease and get back on the trails!

Jba vs spc? Which is preferred

What do you guys think about that badlands jack?
I recently bought one and have only used it once. So, too early to really give an opinion, but I definitely like the extended height capabimity. Timmy
