Bro, you gotta check out Jelly Roll's rapping. He's got a classic 10 minute freestyle one here, together with a bunch of rap albums with his homie Struggle, Yelawolf, Tech Nine, etc.
Dude hell yeah. How is scru from the mid west and don’t know jelly roll lol. The whole strange music yelawolf vibe! Mid west to the south. The OG country white rappers. Wolf, Ritz, Roll, and struggle
@@shaneb374just in case you only watched his opening speech, you HAVE TO go back and watch the whole 2 hour and something discussion. Those senators actually respected him and wanted to hear EVERYTHING he had to say. As a 15 year fan I'm so crazy proud to watch it all
Jelly Roll is from Antioch, TN a small district area right outside of Nashville. He came up tough and had to rob and sell drugs to survive. He got into music at a young age due to his mother infatuation with music, lots of classic blues. He went to prison at a young age for being involved in a home robbery gone wrong when someone got killed. When he got out in his 20’s he started focusing on music starting with rap. His 10 minute freestyle is what blew him up definitely would recommend checking it out. He earned some gold records in rap moved into rock earned some gold records in rock, he then moved into country and had earned many gold records in country. One of the only artist to earn gold records in all genre, he’s definitely worth checking out. Now he is an activist in the Nashville area for young troubled kids, he’s actually involved in a project to build a new Juvenile Hall that focuses more on rehabilitation than punishment. Jelly Roll is a legend. Before anyone says anything no I didn’t research this man or stalk him. I lived in the same area as him for years and met him once in my homies house however doubt he remembers me. Just been a fan for years and he’s doing a lot for the city of Nashville.
i don't suffer with drug addictions, but my was almost sent to tears by the line " if you don't believe in yourself, then you'll never believe in someone believing in you" i struggle with self hatred and confidence issues and that verse hits me so damn hard
Man what? I’ve been listening to Jelly Roll since 2013. Sunday Morning was an anthem back in the day! Dudes rapped with Yella, Tech N9NE, a ton of those Midwest rappers!
Yeah brother Roll started out as like a hood rap artist. Man has an incredible range! Great perspective on this powerful track, too! I agree that Joyner is at his pinnacle in this mode; social commentary is amazing from him. It’s truly a documentary.
never heard jelly roll, coming from the mid west is crazy. hes a dope freestyle rapper also. he had 15min freestyles out before people freestyled on youtube it felt like lol. his journey is one of the best in rap/singing. from where he came from
As someone from the Midwest, I have also never heard of Jelly Roll, but I am glad Joyner worked with him to create this song! I'll probably check out some of his stuff!
This song brought tears and had me feeling like wow how does jelly do this 🔥🔥🔥🔥he is incredible and his vocals gets to you Then Joyner rapping jus Brings it together while spittin the story 😢
Jelly Roll is a rapper, singer, country artist. The song that really debuted his voice to the world was Save Me, it would be a great reaction. He's got a lot of rap songs as well that go.
Scru bro, all I can say is you speaking volumes, Joyner Lucas when it comes to hitting these messages...how many of us know someone who we would love to be able to reach/help through this and other type of addictions...this was fire and as always Scru your reactions is on point.🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Jelly Roll is so versatile. I love his song "Same Asshole" his feature he did on Tech N9nes "EF U" was great as well. All around a great artist no doubt💯
When you first hear Jelly Roll's hook you think "wow, what a voice" Then you hear it again after the first verse and that shit sinks in. But that third time, you REALLY feel it.
Jelly Roll used to be a rapper then recently he switched to singing and actually won Best New Artist at the CMAs (country music awards) at 39 years old. Dudes been killing it for a while now. I'm not personally a country fan but I'm definitely a Jelly Roll fan.
This is so deep, a bunch of friends became addicted, shit my little brother still is. I had to move clear across the United States to get away from everyone who wasn't or hell even pushing me to believe in me. Joyner and jelly thank you for the reassurance! Music like this is what I dive into
Having lost our daughter to an addiction 3 years ago at 31 years old, my wife and I have our personal perspective on this subject. Until the very end, we did everything we could do to try and save her. This put us in debt that will take many years to pay back. We said for the longest time that it was a disease. We eventually came to understand that a disease is something that often strikes a person by no real means of their own, while an addiction is generally caused by the choices an individual makes themselves. I know there are many that be one addicted to opiates after a surgery to manage pain, but I have had 3 major surgeries in the past few years, I refused any medications that may be addictive. So it's a personal choice. Sadly, with addiction, you can't help someone who won't help themselves. And thank you, Scru. I'm about to be 61 years old and will now be going to get some new ink in memory of Samantha. 💞
The Co-Star in this music video is Mic DeVine. He wrote a song called "Way Down We Go". He dedicated it to his and Joyner's friend Dave who they lost to a OD. "WDWG" is said to of inspired this song. Mic and Joyner didn't have to act at all in this music video. They just let themselves feel the pain n loss of their friend. Joyner song "I'm sorry" and NF "How Could You Leave Us" n "Mama" are some of the most moving songs I've heard in a long time. Mama is part 2 to "HCYLU". I love music I feel. That's why I don't have favorite artists. I have songs I love cause I feel em. 🎵 💚💜🎶 There could be a singer that has one song I love cause I feel it. Musicians making songs ppl can feel is true artistry to me. NF last 2 albums tho I don't think there was 1 song I didn't love. I love how Joyner always gives both perspectives in his songs. He's definitely perfected the art of music.
Yeah Jellyroll’s career started as a rapper. Deal or No Deal the mixtape was 🔥🔥🔥. His song “Pop another pill” would be a great reaction! Lil Wyte’s verse is crazy! Whether you react to it or not, you will love that mixtape!
my whole family struggled/struggles with addiction, this shit hits me hard edit: just watched the very end, and i kinda like doing the swap thing. as long as u swap it, bc i like seeing ur facial expressions when u talk, its half the show ❤
You really do gotta do it for yourself, i was addicted to painkillers for 8 years. Tried getting clean because of a chick, got off the dope and stayed clean for about 6 months until the situation went south. Then went right back to what was comfortable to cope. Then 5 years ago, i finally hit rock bottom, checked into rehab and im still clean now 5 years later
Jelly Roll was the perfect person for this song being a recovering addict himself... He's even gone to congress and some about it.. You need to also react to Need A Favor by him.. Loved this reaction
Jelly is a big man with rap as his passion and his big ass is a top notch lyricist. You will ask yourself what took you so long to find him. He's so worth your time!
I member Jelly Roll when he was strictly rap. That "believing in yourself" line was the hardest bar.. so f***kin true!! Joyner's pen is top notch. Side note: Haystak is his homie
Also some jelly roll songs are save me by jelly roll and Lainey Wilson, Empty House, Son of a Sinner, Creature which is with Tech N9ne, and Empty house
He has a free style from when he got out of prison. Like 10 mins long. It’s fire but you gotta listen to a bunch of his hits. I can name so many, he and Merkules have collaborations and it’s all fire
JELLY ROLL🔥 has a song with TECH9🔥! Yeah, he can rap, and sang! "Save Me" is a fantastic example of his vocal ability and how he makes you feel some sorta' way. He won a Grammy for a country song and is primarily focusing on country music right now. That's why this collaboration surprised me. JOYNER LUCAS🔥 is phenomenal!
This is painful..i used to chase my mother around various drug houses around the bay area in Oakland Cali thinking i could save her..many of days i would beat on doors knowing she was behind them but dudes with guns would run me off..i had no power at the age of 15 to protect her. Just typing this made me cry and im now the age of 48 and though i placed those memories in the back of my head never to be remembered this video placed me back in that time. Jelly Roll verse is literally what i had to do.This song is a gift and a curse. Shout out from west monroe la. I thought i had escaped those memories... but clearly i have not... via this song.
This is my first time in your podcas, and you did a suck a incredible job breaking down this song, and yes I think you should do some reaction like this, and this was the main reason I ended up watching your video just so i can see the reactions, and I also subscribed your channel so I can constantly watch your Podcast, thank you for the breakdown👍🏾💯✨
