Nongjrong Trip || Meghalaya || Oct 2021

This week we visit picturesque Nongjrong village, which is situated about 47km from Shillong, east of the Laitlum gorges.. It is perched on a hilltop overlooking the Umngot river. It is one of the border villages which separate the Khasi Hills from the Jaintia Hills. The drive to the village is very beautiful where you pass endless grasslands , terraced fields and winding roads. The roads however are being repaired and should be ready in the next few months.
The view from the viewpoint has in the past few years become very popular especially with people visiting it during sunrise, to witness the formation of clouds below the hills.
The Umngot river is also a very enchanting river. It is most popularly known for the crystal clear waters near Dawki and Shnongpdeng. We decided to walk down 5km to the river bank. So come and join us and let's explore.
