Replacing the Power Jack on the MTR3B

  • The older MTR3Bs have an odd-sized power jack. If my radios take a jack for power, I like ever one to be standardized so I don't have to worry about having the right power adapters. I cut out the old jack and upgraded to a 5.5x2.1mm jack, which is pretty standard at this point. I think all my QRP HF radios take this jack for external power.

    I went the other way, my other QRP radios that use an external 3s LiPo battery were built with the 1.7mm jack. My kx2 remained with the 2.1mm jack since I use the internal battery. Just my silly preference. Thanks for posting the video and enjoy your 3b, they are great little rigs.
