  • In this video I have a Willys F 134 engine that is getting some work done by the Storm Vulcan Blockmaster 85B. First the cylinder head is getting a light cut, and finished out at .0055" to get a perfectly flat surface. Next the block is setup and another light cut to see where the highs and lows are. The block cleaned up with just .003" taken off the deck surface. The Blockmaster is a great machine and worked better than I thought it would. Very easy to set up blocks and cylinder heads. I am sure it will be getting a lot of use in the future.

    I could watch these clips of the cuts all day. It’s so satisfying to see the skim of the first one and the beauty of the last cut. Gets me all excited inside. I guess my standards for excitement are kind of low now that I’m realizing how happy it makes me lol

      I agree, very satisfying to watch this machine in action. It is very powerful and cuts are absolutely perfect.

    These cleanup videos may seem boring, but it's an oddly satisfying process to see pass after pass with the surface cleaning up a thousandth at a time.

    ... All in-house now! -- it's a rebuilder's Dream... Perhaps a Balancing outfit is next :)
    .... Great finish! -- Glad the Blockmaster is meeting expectations... We had trouble sourcing White and Hercules parts back in the 80's -- hope they won't be a problem to locate
    ... Thanks for Another great video! :)

    What an interesting machine. I came up thru machine shops so I tend to go to massive metal shapers and jig bores. I can see this approach really saves on space and you don’t need to move 10,000 to 20,000 pound monsters! I am impressed!

    • @metalshaperJeep
      @metalshaperJeep  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would love to have a super large shaper or even a big planer. Love Jig boring machines but have not been able to find a good one locally.

      @@metalshaperJeep well that sucks. My brother sent his yuppie ass lawyers against our family and family home so I have to move. I had to scrap a 20 in Gemco shaper and a 24 in Rockford hydraulic shaper. Still need to figure out what to do with my Henley 16 in shaper and at least one Rockford open side planer shaper.

      @metalshaperJeep  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@devmeistersuperprecision4155 Wow, that sucks, sorry to hear about your situation. Also sad to hear that you had to scrap your shapers. I have a 20" steptoe shaper that I have been trying to sell so I can upgrade to a 36" unit or an actual metal planer if I can find one.

    What is different/better about this machine compared to the one you used previously to flatten blocks and heads? This is all new to me.

    • @metalshaperJeep
      @metalshaperJeep  ปีที่แล้ว

      This machine can do much larger blocks such as straight sixs and eights. My milling machine could not handle much more than a four cylinder due to table travel. This is a much more powerful and sturdy machine.

    These engines came from the factory with hardened seats? I had my F head rebuilt and didn't know any history of it ever being rebuilt.

    • @metalshaperJeep
      @metalshaperJeep  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Late F heads started coming from the factory with hardened seats installed. Early motors did not have them.

    • @duckhunt1058
      @duckhunt1058 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@metalshaperJeep I was wondering about it. I believe my F head that was just rebuilt was possibly from a 53. It had standard pistons in it. The shop discovered them when they resurfaced the block. We didn't need to buy any or install them. Win win in my opinion.
