"We are saving people's lives" I felt that SO STRONGLY, that's what our management team says in every meeting and to downplay complaints about lack of communication and highly delayed salaries. They basically say "We don't care about your peasant problems, such as your ability to live and pay your bills, THINK OF ALL THE LIVES WE ARE SAVING!!"
Startups in New York City aren’t any better. Take #popshop for example. They fired their VP of business development who drove $2M in sales and was responsible for their VC funding and fired her because she wasn’t a good “culture fit” when a discrimination case arose against the startup who had 8 white male jewish employees they started to hire women quickly to cover their trails. I’m making a film on this entrepreneur you can email me if you are interested in learning more about the works of Adam Neumann , Trump and many others
the whole silicon valley startup cult. always repulsed me from the get go. i never quite understood why or could pin point. i thought i was jealous of their success, but once i looked into some of the people in those startups, i realized i was not mistaken. it seems they are all narcissistic in their endeavors. i now dislike their sense of moral superiority over issues. it is good many are failing, because the word startup just lost its meaning and could bring it back.
Changing the World? More like fucking over other people and inventing software to put other people out of work if possible. My favorite is the self driving auto projects.
I live next to eBay campus and it doesn't look like a bunch of white guys to me, its more like I'm in India. I think Americans should get the +200k/year jobs first, let the foreigners do the $12/hr target jobs...
@Eric Sanjuan I understand taking care of your own first, but if you did that America's tech sector would lag far behind Asia. If you want to be the best you have to hire the best.
His white hipster impression is spot on... xD
I know it's kinda mean, but I'm glad to hear that they're failing.... hard.

"Oh, your life Is threatened? I'm sorry, I can't help you, I'm too busy saving lives!"
That was brutally honest.
"that's not how you hire people" - talking about having beer: YES UNFORTUNATELY THAT'S HALF THE JOB MARKET.
If you get sick, this guys got the good antidotes
Being fired means »graduated« LOL
I guess it’s the same as parents telling their kids that their beloved pet is now »on a farm« when it died.
I read his book and it’s one of the funniest writing I’ve seen in a book. That part with the “teddy bear” had me rolling!!!

The ageism part is 100% correct.
Another myth: people need to write thick books to recount an important business issue. This short interview said enough.

It's called SILICON valley for a reason. Silicone is plastic, just like it's inhabitants.

I can understand why Tim Ferriss got the hell out.
It looks like the reporter should be working at a start-up. She is pretty bad at her job
Graduation. Lol!
He is great. She is a mess.
People need haters like Dan and that's OK :)
He is no industry insider give me a break. He did some field research and then gabbed about it. At length! Like most journalists do.
Rxbyg Duh. more like that story is over. Duh!
Hey Dan, u shut ur mouth! Its DISRUPTING the industry! 🤣
His honesty though
Interviewer is cringeworthy.
YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
His opinion seems biased, I mean come on he only worked at one startup and wait....how long did he work at that ONE startup?
funny little "antidotes"
Take a look at wall street... You bro down or you go down.
💯
well ,money lord create this ! capitalism at its best!
Exactly!
This clown has an agenda to make money off of SV culture. He obviously had a pre-determined outlook and bias against tech culture.
The background music is everything wrong with the world
I think it's funny that Twitter just laid off 75% of its employees and is doing fine.

Eric Sanjuan I'll take it you're a trump supporter.
eBay is a great company
Eric Sanjuan Hahah Silicon Valley wouldn't exist without foreigners. The founders of Google were immigrants.
He's talking about startups
