Renting a Car in Merida, Mexico. It was easy!!

- We wanted to see the city before another possible rumored lockdown and decided to rent a car in Merida for a week! We were relatively surprised at how easy renting a care in Merida, Mexico was so surprised that we had to share with you the process and of course the cost. We did use a rental car agency that we found via the FB Groups, a simple search for rental cars in Merida produced a slew of results. We used this particular agency because they were prompt in responding to our query and they made the process easy by not only bringing the car to us but also picking up the car. It was clean and serviced. We would easily rent a car from them again and recommend them to anyone looking to rent a car in Merida, Mexico.

It was so freaking easy. They dropped off and picked up with no issues and our deposit was returned. It was easier than in the states.

Great info! Thank you for sharing. Any issues with being pulled over by police and being asked to pay a bribe?
No, not a one. The police presence here is very visible but they are true public servants. Now outside of Merida....well

Your regular insurance should be fine if you have an international rider.

@@WanderingSoup We are planning to be in Merida. Just planning if it would be better to rent in Cancun or in Merida and take the ADO bus back to Cancun.
Hmmmmm...now that's an interesting dilemma. How long will you be in both cities?
I've heard the rental agencies in Cancun can be tricky. The one we used here was honestly easy peasy, all fees up front with no surprises. For peace of mind I would probably rent in Merida. The bus is an okay ride and possibly quicker than you driving it. The driver was speeding speeding..lol
So they didn’t ask for an international drivers license?
Not required here. Just has to be valid!
