It is like the Wii and the WiiU, many people thought it was just an upgraded version of the Wii, because of the name, but it was a new console (just looking more different then the Wii).

Im getting the new one because my daughter has fully claimed the one we were ment to share 😂🤣😂 i mean she let's me when she wants to play 2 player but I have to sneak it when she's asleep lols I've already preordered the new one yay
I'm getting the new one cause I want a upgrade from my Lite. Also yes I know the OLED version doesn't have that many upgrades to it, but the only reason I want it is because 1. I wanna play my games on the TV, 2. I really like the 7 inch screen so I would like to play my games on the 7 inch screen in hand held mode, and 3. *W I D E*. And yeah that's pretty much all my reasons I wanna get the OLED.
I feel like this is more of a “3DS XL” upgrade than a “New 3DS” upgrade. And as for the wedge between OLED and non-OLED owners….I mean, it’s still barely a wedge compared to an internal upgrade. Sure the screen is better and slightly bigger, but that’s waaaaay different than new, better internals. Many people don’t feel like they have to upgrade here. New internals with exclusive games/better running games? Much more necessary.
I'm not gonna buy this "new" switch, because I already have one and like it is already said, it just makes no sense for a person to buy this thing who already has one, because it is not worth it for this minimal differences (at least not for me).
I agree with your point about the price. The regular Switch should've been reduced in price from $299 to $249. The new OLED model should've been $299 or $319. Three tiers, three price points.
They won't do that because they then wouldn't make a profit off the console sale. $350 for 7 inch OLED gaming system is actually pretty cheap anyways comparatively speaking.
The most egregious thing is you can buy an Xbox Series S for $50 cheaper and a PS5 Digital edition for $50 more. And for heaven's sake, it's running on Maxwell architecture. Maxwell! From 2014! The SOC is on a fab process from 2015!
The animal crossing design is the nicest looking switch I’ve seen in my opinion. I love how the colors and design on the joycons are so significantly different then any other Nintendo switch I’ve seen so far, I just think they could have done better with the design of the OLED model.
I feel like this 'new' switch improves on nothing necessary while resolving no problems with the base model and pleases no one :') But it looks damn nice.

"The Battery is the same" - No. It is not. It is the same Wattage for sure, but with an bigger OLED, the Battery will drain faster. So, the portable-expirience will become worse. And the Switch did not have a great Battery from begin with...
@@debblez We will see. Switchgames are for usual very bright (in Color) CNET says the following; "The only way to make OLED more energy-efficient is to reduce its brightness, but since that reduces its contrast ratio as well, it's not ideal. So we'll give this category to LCD, even though it's fairly close and neither uses much power. Depending on size, settings, and how much you watch it (of course) it's around $20 to $30 a year to run a modern TV." Even when they say "neither uses much power", this is based on electrical devices in general. On a portable with a bigger screen, i think it does play a major role on battery life. Maybe not on all games, but as far as it goes for switchgames, i am willing to bet, that the majority of fan-Favorites (Mario, Zelda, Splatoon, etc) will take a hit with an larger OLED.
My switch for whatever reason has a good battery??? Like I didn't use it for months and it was still on it was a low battery but it was still on. I realize when playing games it goes faster which sucks and the battery on the first model wasn't that great.
This is literally just the XL 3Ds of the switch. Not something you would upgrade your regular switch to but definitely worth getting if you don't already have the original. (if you can afford it)
@@da-Pboy No it didn't. You're thinking of the "new" models, which came out late in the lifespan. Almost like that's when we should expect a Switch "Pro".
An "Oled Model" Switch Lite would be nice, since the Oled screen would be a more integral part of the experience. Plus a white Switch Lite would look sick!
@@z3nmode970 Yeah, that's true. I actually forgot that one existed, but it's not as clean-looking as a Switch lite with this black and white design could look. But at least that one is real.
Totally agree, this actually is more suited for a switch lite upgrade. For the dock model I would still maybe keep the screen, wide stand and LAN input but I'd buff that dock
As someone who only ever plays switch in docked mode, this new model does nothing for me :/ Excited for those who play almost always in handheld mode though! Have fun with that new OLED screen
Nintendo has only been catering to portable players tho 😂Switch Lite is only for portable play and the previous Switch revision was better on battery life, which only matters if you’re a portable player. Now, they get a better screen and speakers. Is it really a hybrid console if they only care about the portable aspect? Maybe they should just stick to portable and exit the home console market.
Same for me. I use a switch lite for handheld gameplay cause I have small hands and the normal switch just isn’t comfortable for longer sessions in handheld to me. I would love though if they do a Switch lite oled model!
@@paulclinton6414 The Switch is much more expensive than the DS was and is a more important console for Nintendo. This upgrade is significant enough that they’ll be pushing this for a while. But I hope you’re right.
So what’s the point of getting this new OLED switch now and then they decide to release the Pro version with OLED?? Wouldn’t that just be a waste of your money?!
By the fact that switch joycons are $80, it would be nice if you could just buy the switch body without the joycons for $80 less because the joycons are the same, I'mma probably just keep my switch tho, I don't really mind it's performance, battery life, or the size of the screen, I'll most likely swap it out 2 or 3 models down the line

Honestly, I'm just glad they won't be releasing "Switch Pro Only" games. Like with the new 3ds. I think thats what people would have an issue with. No one would dislike an upgraded console.
yeah I keep seeing people say that they're glad it's not an upgraded switch because it would fragment the user base......... completely ignoring the xbox one x and ps4 pro
@@joshuaijaola2145 I don't remember seeing games that only work on the X and Pro so it isn't an issue there, whereas there exists a whole library of games including minecraft and xenoblad which didn't run on the original 3DS - given the already low-spec nature of the switch it isn't foolish to say that there _could_ be games that just won't be able to run on an original switch. Plus we already have games that require Lite users to buy JoyCons separately (although that is less of an issue than the system entirely stopping them from playing)
A reasonable way to frame this sentiment. Were there PS4 pro or Xbox 1X exclusives? I was not at all concerned, if there were exclusives then sure some people couldn't play them but there's a massive install base and library at this point. All I wanted was slightly higher frame rate, 1080p 60 locked would've done it for me and we didn't even get that.
I feel like this is an unfinished piece of tech. If so, they really shouldn’t have released this one just yet. It’s as if nintendo’s idea of a switch revision is putting on a fancy new screen and painting the console white. Btw, the color scheme suspiciously reminds me of the PS5.
Yup they're capitalizing on the new "Main White + Black Highlights" trend. Quest 2, PS5, XBOX Series S... now Switch (OLED Model). Damn it Ninty at least call it Switch XL!
This revision is in line with what Nintendo has done for years, this is the XL Revision of the Switch Family. Before the PS4 Pro/Xbox One X a revision was literally a slim version or updated looks not internal upgrades.
Well it is a revision right. It isnt an upgrade or a full on other console. And for an additional 50$ why would anyone want the old switch now. Ofc its not worth an upgrade from my current switch but this seems like the most possible and right thing to do. Ofc a new more powerful cpu is welcome but that would be basically a new console. Is it only me who think this revision actually makes sense ?
@@last5902 it makes sense at the stand point of a person who hasn’t had a switch and wants one, but from the stand point of an actual day one switch fan, it just sort of hurts. @@Zaphod-ef9yz I think they could do it, they might need to collaborate with another company to get the parts, but it can be done. Granted that won't happen until PC component prices come back down. Heck making a small GPU and/or CPU upgrade to ensure a solid 60 frames would please a lot of people, and keep it being backwards compatible with older switch titles. Heck, make it run other games as well, like DS games. Add accessories so it can run gameboy games too via USB type C expansion. lol. These are just my dumb thoughts.
@@5folklore They're not dumb thoughts, it's possible that they could but I am not sure what collaboration that would be or what it would look like, presumably there would need to be something in it for the other party. I had just reached the point I thought the Series S may be worth it at the affordable price point with game pass and the ability to catch up on a handful of XB1 games that interested me but now? Now I am thinking for a little more, the Deck could pretty much give me that experience with the bonus of a pretty decent PC (compared to my low end laptop) but again, I would need to see what that actually looks like before jumping in. The argument is not mute. I don't live in the us. To me, a Switch costs more than 300$ when you convert currency, and I already have one. Xenoblade was already on the Wii and the Wii was more than affordable when Xenoblade dropped. So... 1. Your argument that Nintendo forced you to buy a new 3ds is bs. 2. Botw 2 (or whatever it will be called) will also be playable on the switch lite which is around 200$ or less on a deal. So there's no kind of forcing for you to buy the OLED Model Switch. 3. Will be interested to see if they do this for the lite model, seems the handheld perks would be more suitable for the console you only play in handheld.
The OLED switch does look pretty nice, but I feel like this is more targeted at people that don't have a switch already. For me I'm still looking for that Switch pro or Switch XL, but since the Switch is almost 5 years old. It's most likely the Pro switch will be the Switch 2.0 or the Super switch .
The only differences is literally it's taller, the dock is different, it's a bit heavier, and there's more storage, from what I seen on the Nintendo website literally the same battery life, same play modes, and the same joy con.
No, the difference is the OLED screen. I'm in the market for a new Switch and I'll gladly pay $50 for an OLED screen. The kickstand is a huge improvement and the other things are just gravy. Yeah easily worth $50.
Unless you are a handheld gamer, it's pretty pointless but if you were to get a Switch for the first time, the small increase in price for tbe Oled screen and the extra 32gb storage is worth it. I think the base model will cease manufacture soon though and the Oled will replace it.
I really hope this kills the “Switch Pro” garbage for a while. Nintendo has said themselves they aren’t going to say or do anything until they want to so the endless speculation is pointless.

I just got a job and all I wanted was a gen 4 game but scaling/ fake games has made it a nightmare just to buy diamond, pearl, or platinum. From the trailer I don't think its going to be an upgraded experience for either the switch or Gen 4. 3D doesn't always mean better than pixel games or Upgraded. Very Similar Joy-con design so Drifting is a given, plus they are making more money not fixing or addressing the issue.
EXACTLY, I’ve been waiting for there to be better FPS on the switch and BETTER quality AND THEY HAD a chance with this new switch but they just decided not to do it which is sad, not worth worth getting it tbh
I've had mine for a few months now & I LOVE it. Again, mostly cosmetic improvements over some internal ones. Totally worth it for me, mostly in part to the trade in difference I got with my old switch. If this would be your first switch console, I'd spring for the extra $50. But if you already have one or you mostly play docked, It wouldn't be the worst thing to hang on to it and hold out for the new console that should be coming out within the next year or 2.🤷♀️
Yeah, it's not really anything special, just slightly bigger screen in handheld, with it being OLED, battery life is extended, depending on game and 64 gb internal space as opposed to 32 in the v2 switch and switch lite. Also the dock has a lan port, doesn't include a cable :c sad
Same exact boat, got mine less than a month ago and started researching and hearing about a new model… Had a slight bit of regret but I can rest easy now!
I agree whole heartedly.I love the way it looks, the screen, kickstand, and audio improvements are great, but I don't play much other than docked. I also don't really use wireless for the switch much anyway, so the lan cable serves me no purpose. I think it's a great idea, and it's a great thing that nintendo has begun to deliver the switch pro. However, for someone who has already spent $300 on a switch that i'm perfectly happy with, I don't really see the need to upgrade. What i would say overall is: If you don't have a switch and want one, get this new one. No reason not to, unless it's going to be more expensive. If you already have a switch, don't bother. it's not quite worth it, especially if it's going to be more expensive.

I hope when the new switch comes out they'll put a big update where the switch has more features like switch party's or switch messaging and changing themes and other things
Why does there need to be a messaging system on a video game console? What's wrong with your dang phones or using platforms like Discord? Honestly, I do not see the point on Switch needing some kind of communication feature.
Indeed, no improvement to the console, as the measly .8cm increase in screen will just look slightly worse without a resolution boost to compensate. And the Ethernet port is a nice touch, but that should've been a feature from day one if a competitive online game (Smash Ultimate) is one of your major selling points.
IMHO this is the most underwhelming revision to a console I've ever seen. Personally speaking there's nothing here that would entice me to spend an additional $350 for the minor upgrades i could get for cheaper through third party attachments (save for the OLED display). I would rather put that money towards either a new console, or more games.
It's alright IMO, I saw people spend 300 to buy the animal crossing switch when it came out. The only thing that had was different colors. 350 for an OLED, slightly larger screen, and the new dock it's not so bad. It's a more compelling buy for someone who doesn't have a switch yet.

@@debblez
We will see. Switchgames are for usual very bright (in Color)
CNET says the following;
"The only way to make OLED more energy-efficient is to reduce its brightness, but since that reduces its contrast ratio as well, it's not ideal. So we'll give this category to LCD, even though it's fairly close and neither uses much power. Depending on size, settings, and how much you watch it (of course) it's around $20 to $30 a year to run a modern TV."
Even when they say "neither uses much power", this is based on electrical devices in general.

The only differences is literally it's taller, the dock is different, it's a bit heavier, and there's more storage, from what I seen on the Nintendo website literally the same battery life, same play modes, and the same joy con.
It's like the switch got a VERY small upgrade that will sell at 2
Twise the price
@@teenagergod2006 twice the price? It's 350$. The original model is 300$
No, the difference is the OLED screen.
@@gblan you’re paying 350 just to upgrade the screen?🤨
You opened up my eyes big time. This is the most basic of all basics of reasons why I don’t need it lol. Until the 4K switch appears atleast
Sheesh 4K switch 2025
And this is why I don’t listen to rumors.
Exactly. And people expect these rumors to be fact and only get themselves disappointed
@@Taiokarlo and honestly I was getting so annoyed with the switch pro talk lol
I really hope this kills the “Switch Pro” garbage for a while. Nintendo has said themselves they aren’t going to say or do anything until they want to so the endless speculation is pointless.

Beatemups you NEVER fail to entertain, it has only been I who has failed to tune in. Been rockin since 2018 brotha! Love the content now and then.
@yuitr loing lol mee too I bought the ACNH switch thinking I wouldn't see it on the market again. I'm happy with it though.

@@whocares3701 no.......lol

@@whocares3701 oh, I believe you. I had bought a switch lite after my daughter broke my launch switch. I only bought the lite because I couldn't find a docked console. Then I came across the ACNH Switch. So I feel you.
Finally reached 2011 technology with the OLED
OLED isn't outdated yet though. And the Vita didn't sell that well over here anyway soooo....
I do really like the kickstand though. It makes it really nice to watch TH-cam on my lunch break.
As someone who plays docked mode 99% of the time I'm going to pass on this one.

As someone who's getting a switch soon, i will too be passing on this one.
@@bigmann800 why it's only $50 more and you are getting a better screen and more storage
I feel like I'll probably get this when my switch finally dies, unless they come out with a Pro (but I doubt that will happen anytime soon). This is because I don't really play in handheld very much and I don't use an Ethernet cable so that doesn't work for me. I hope they sale the white joy-cons separately cause that's what I like the most about this Switch.
I don’t think they’re even going to make a switch pro because the switch is lifespan is about over
@@blakelandry9313 no it's not lol. But i agree they won't make a pro version as they have no reason to do it. They will probably just come with a brand new console somewhere in 2023
I’m just gonna get the white dock for my original switch, red, blue, and white, what a mix
@@zo_maar damn, you sure its not like a side version like the lite or 2.0? Cause if its not it would be better if they released it along side botw 2 if you see it from nintendos pov they would get more sales.
Most likely after release they will be on sale separately
Tbh this switch isn’t bad, I just don’t think I need another switch😂
Do what I’m going to do: sell your previous switch and get this one
Yeah, but I just got another switch, and I feel it’s not that worth it
I don't think it's baaaad... It's just not worth the improvement. It isn't the revision it should have been.
@@Hjasprr I suppose that’s a viable reasoning, but my switch is 3 years old and has barely any blemishes, so I’m gonna sell it for the new one :)
I won’t get this one (mostly because I got the normal one last Saturday) but the changes they made are just not good enough
Nintendo disappointed everyone then valve took advantage lol
Lol I agree. I am very excited for Valve's new release, especially since I do not own a Gaming PC and I am missing out on a lot of cool games!

Yes, none of my friends want to trade with me when I play pokemon... Might even just pick up a regular one if there is scapling issues tbh. Same for the next pokemon games.
They all just “playing” the trailers 😂😂
Not worth it, not even FPS improvements
EXACTLY, I’ve been waiting for there to be better FPS on the switch and BETTER quality AND THEY HAD a chance with this new switch but they just decided not to do it which is sad, not worth worth getting it tbh

My reaction to the new switch “That’s it?… WFT is this?”
I've had mine for a few months now & I LOVE it. Again, mostly cosmetic improvements over some internal ones. Totally worth it for me, mostly in part to the trade in difference I got with my old switch. If this would be your first switch console, I'd spring for the extra $50. But if you already have one or you mostly play docked, It wouldn't be the worst thing to hang on to it and hold out for the new console that should be coming out within the next year or 2.🤷♀️
"It's gonna match a lot of people's Playstation 5s" 🤣🤣🤣
And Xbox Series S
I just bought a switch and I’m kind of relieved. I can live without that white one.
Yeah, it's not really anything special, just slightly bigger screen in handheld, with it being OLED, battery life is extended, depending on game and 64 gb internal space as opposed to 32 in the v2 switch and switch lite. Also the dock has a lan port, doesn't include a cable :c sad
I just got one too, but my will is weaker than yours lol
Racist.
Same exact boat, got mine less than a month ago and started researching and hearing about a new model… Had a slight bit of regret but I can rest easy now!
I like the white joy cons I hope they sell that color separately
I agree whole heartedly.I love the way it looks, the screen, kickstand, and audio improvements are great, but I don't play much other than docked. I also don't really use wireless for the switch much anyway, so the lan cable serves me no purpose. I think it's a great idea, and it's a great thing that nintendo has begun to deliver the switch pro. However, for someone who has already spent $300 on a switch that i'm perfectly happy with, I don't really see the need to upgrade. What i would say overall is:
If you don't have a switch and want one, get this new one. No reason not to, unless it's going to be more expensive.
If you already have a switch, don't bother. it's not quite worth it, especially if it's going to be more expensive.
It's gonna be $350 or so I heard from one source there's a very large chance that was clickbait tho.
@@citeltheof $350 for the same exact Switch we've been playing for 4+ years now, but with very minor tweaks. You can get an Xbox Series S for $50 cheaper. Lulz on that.

I hope when the new switch comes out they'll put a big update where the switch has more features like switch party's or switch messaging and changing themes and other things
They better man.. it’s so simple and it’s a main thing everyone has been wanting for a long time
Why does there need to be a messaging system on a video game console? What's wrong with your dang phones or using platforms like Discord? Honestly, I do not see the point on Switch needing some kind of communication feature.

The model has basically no difference except it's smoother and white.
My biggest problem with the Switch V1 is that the controllers are black. Now that it’s white, I HAVE to get it!
Wait that’s not what I meant
@@airbearsarrow3426 Wait a minute 🤨
Indeed, no improvement to the console, as the measly .8cm increase in screen will just look slightly worse without a resolution boost to compensate. And the Ethernet port is a nice touch, but that should've been a feature from day one if a competitive online game (Smash Ultimate) is one of your major selling points.
@@airbearsarrow3426 LMFAO.
It’s not a console to upgrade to, it’s a console for those who don’t have a switch yet
"Most underwhelming revision to a console" you must be unaware of the PSVita
But it's not suppose to be a replacement tho, is like nobody with a 3ds would upgrade to a 3ds xl but those who don't own a 3ds would obviously go for the 3ds xl
@@Salvatore_Plaia the switch came out 2017 its 2021 I don't understand why Nintendo is appealing to the minority of people who hasn't gotten a switch yet not the majority of the fans that already have a switch.
This is such a disappointment. It’s classic Nintendo to bring something out that is less than expected. I’m sure it will be nice for those that need a new switch or don’t have one but honestly you know they will do what they always do and release 3 or 4 models in a 4-5 year span and I’ll just wait till that fifth revision when they finally upgrade the internals
