Iu recorded this song when she had a bad cold and was constantly coughing and taking a little rest. Even so, she recorded this track perfectly. also, iu can be called an Angel, she really is like that. She has donated a lot of money during her career. She is always kind to everyone and loves her fans. Unfortunately, iu lost 3 of her friends, it's suicide. The song called "eight" is dedicated to him and most of all to her friend Sulli. I advise you to react to it. There is a clip.
To me, the video is about how the machine (cube) of industry/media pursues you constantly, leaving you battered and bruised, and, in the end, can suck the life out of you. IU is fantastic and her and V's acting in this is stellar.

The Cube represents society, it is chasing every individual who doesn't fit the standards of society. Here V is half blind, IU is deaf and mute. So they are running from oppression of society. The world is controled by these standards of perfection to the point that people in the world put masks on when they don't have make-up or when they feel inssecure or they wear hats when their hair is messy. The MV is a dystopian view of our society. While they are trying to hide in this abondonned place filled with the clothes of people who died because of this oppression, they find a camera that allows them to have an illusion of what their lives could be if they were "normal" by society's standards, it starts with their looks, they could see how they would have looked like, then what they would eat, then they start to feel the illusion a bit too much to the point they beautifully imagine that IU could sing and V could sing as well and she could listen to his voice, they could marry each other and just have fun and eat whatever they want because they wouldn't have to care about society or any other kind of oppression. However, as soon as they feel a little bit of confort and try to live their life, the Cube (society) finds them again and push them to retreat and flee again, but the Cube managed to find them again, they try to survive against it and try to fight it as hard as they can, but they cannot beat a stronger system, they just give up but at least they stayed together until the end. Even if they died at the end, they loved each other deeply, it shows that even if society is oppressive, people can love each other and they can find their soulmate even if they are not "normal or perfect" to the eyes of some many others. The pile of clothes is like from Spring Day, these people died because of injustice, but they deserved love, so the pile of clothes can look very gloomy and sad, but as in Spring Day MV if you don't forget them you can seem them happy and free where they are right now...
And crazy culture where idol are not allowed to have personal lives. Once they get married, their career died
Voice of an angel. Discovered her with this song when it was released, and I am a 50 year old male, and I cried like a baby! So emotional. The voice, the lyrics, the acting, etc. wow

IU debuted at 15 and is 30 years old now....she writes all her lyrics and produces her songs and videos... yes she has killing voice...also would recommend her Golden Hour concert videos...she was the first female solo kpop star to be allowed to perform in the Seoul olympic stadium....also recommend her live clips...."Love Poem", "Eight" and "Dear Name"....and if you want to see her real personality she hosts a show on youtube called IU's Palette where she interviews kpops biggest stars and also Koreas top actors and actresses ...

to be accurate, not exactly all songs tho, she only manage to take control in producing her own discography after she finish her 7 years debut contract which is when she first kickstart her age series songs with the song "23" as she turned 23. That's why some of her song from her debut period would seem cringe even for herself, since she is just a teenager when she sing those old songs of hers such as "Lost Child" and "Good Day"
😌IU is a legend in Korea and the best thing is that she is still valid after 15 years of career, something that 99% of kpop artists cannot achieve because it is a very competitive and cyclical industry, however IU is known sustain as an actress and singer for 15 years, she is a complete artist, please watch her oldest videos first to see her evolution.

Killing voice is good one , she sings some songs she wrote during her 20s there. Though her face looks like a 18 years old teenager she’s actually 30.
And if you wanna check out her other MVs , i saw someone recommend eight which is definitely a good one since the song is tribute to her 3 friends that passed away. I also wanna recommend “Good day” since it’s probably the “blew up” moment for her with the iconic 3 level 13-seconds high notes she did. And coincidentally, Today 13 years ago is the day that she released “Good day”😂
Great reaction as always. Yeah, IU is something else. While Girls Generation is "The Nations Girl Group", IU is "Nations Little Sister", likely the most influential K-Pop solo artist of all times. This song already achieved its "Perfect All-Kill" status (which means it simultaneously took the top spot on all eight Korean music charts). The MV for "Love Wins All" was directed by Um Tae-hwa (one of the most successfull and award winning directors in Korea) and features V from BTS (the biggest boy group in the world) as male actor, who is not even singing in the song. Shows, how everybody wants to comes running when IU asks them to collaborate on a project.
She is the Korean artist other Korean artists look up to. The "idol of idols" so to speak. She debuted at the age of 15 back in 2008 (not even one year after the debut of Girls Generation, to put it into perspective). Today she basically has her "own" exclusive label with EDAM (established specifically for her) where she produces, composes and writes many of her songs. She also has own variety tv interview show (Palette) and her long running reality tv series (IU TV); both available for free on her TH-cam channel. To top it off, she is also one of the most successful and award winning actress in Korean Entertainment. I for example first got to know her through one of her K-Drama roles.
Yes, she has an amazing killing voice episode, although it would of course spoil her songs. So I would watch that a bit later, after you're more familiar with her. What I consider as two of the most important "must watch" suggestions for her are:
1. Her MV for "Eight" and the TH-cam video "IU Eight explained by a Korean" because it showcases how meaningful her songs can be (and teaches you a bit about the K-Pop industry as well)
2. Her Live Performances for "Blueming" (from 2019 Love Poem concert) and "Eight" (from 2022 ) both record breaking concerts in their own ways, giving you a glimpse into how big she really is
She usually also publishes great Behind The Scenes episodes for most of her releases. For example I can highly recommend the two BTS episodes for the Golden Hour concert and as well as the two BTS episodes for Love WIns All (MV making off, recording of the song).
Final suggestion for your patreon: Why not add a K-Drama to your reaction mix? One episode per week, maybe as a nice weekend release exlusive on patreon? A whole other world (and fanbase) opening for you, expanding your Korean entertainment knowledge? You could start with one of IUs K-Dramas (I would suggest "Hotel Del Luna", available on Netflix)

V AMAZING acting out all these emotions of fear happiness sorrow furious, in a 5 minute music video is crazy because we see actors failing to act out a single emotion in an 1 hour long episode but here he is, the versatility is showing 😭They they forgot what they were running from because through the lens of the camera, they were able to just love and enjoy life until the reality caught up to them and they were taken away ICRY 😭😢

I don't think they know anything about V or BTS. They don't even mention him. This is an MV about 2 characters which Taehyung has contributed and it's sad that he is overlooked
@battleangel4833 Is it possible to know Blackpink but not BTS, the biggest boyband in the world? They have reacted to Blackpink. I have watched many reaction to this video, and none of them have failed to mention both actors in this MV. This MV is a collab of 2 superstars despite IU sings the song. Imagine only an actress appears in this MV? And Taehyung fans and Army worldwide have been watching and supporting it, bringing it to have the best viewership. IU mentioned that no other actor is more suitable to co-star in this MV than Taehyung. Both acting and their chemistry are widely-complimented. IU has previously invited him to IU's Palette and their duet is critically acclaimed. For your information, Taehyung won the 13th Soompi Award for his one and only acting role a few years ago. He is a multitalented artist but has been hidden in the group for years. Since BTS solo era, he did a number of projects and his latest solo album broke many records worldwide. Tae always supports other artists like collaborating with a new star named Umi. He is one of the few big artists who is willing to support new stars.

I already said that IU's fans appreciate the participation of Taehyung in this video unlike you who said that is nothing wrong not to like an artist. When did I disrespect IU? I love her and respect her. She’s multi-talented and is named Korea’s Sweetheart while Tae is named Korea’s Treasure. If this is Tae’s MV while IU is a co-star, we will compliment on her and give her recognition too. If you disagree, then leave it as it is. Love Wins All is a true masterpiece. The gorgeous IU has created an anthem of love for all time. Everything in this music video is beautiful, right down to the dust on the tables. It's pure art. The song is so sensual and sublime. The interactions between IU and V in the music video are amazing. Seriously, IU’s album The Winning is a masterpiece. Every song is such a diamond. Every music video is a visual delight. IU is a true musical genius.
She is in her 16th year and on going + in the entertainment business and still going strong. That many years experience and she still look so young huh? Some people might even think shes still barely an adult. She is 30 years old now but already at the pinnacle of her career in her 20s already. Since she started out as a minor. One of the top vocalist of south korea. She is very powerful and influential in the entertainment business. She is now a super successful actress and is in the list of one of the top richest celebrity in south korea because of being the top of her career in singing and acting.

IU can't hear and V’s one eye can't see ,in the end IU covered the good eyes of Taehyung so he won't see the horrible ending in front of them ,im Stuck at how a single tear from Taehyung’s good eye traced its path down his face and IU’s hand gently covered his eyes, It's as if he found a momentary refuge in her touch, offering a subtle relief from the overwhelming sensation ... @@hd7704 It doesn't matter, but when I follow reactions I like to see what the channel's style is and I saw that they also react to male metal bands, but in the first videos they give a very enthusiastic thank you to blackpink fans for their support and even call them of "dad and mom", so maybe it's not good to mix, I just didn't think it was fair that BTS fans didn't know and kept asking when I know they won't do it. The pile of clothing in this video was also used in a BTS song called "Spring Day." The inspiration is an art installation by Christian Boltanski where the clothing represents "the heaviness of all the hearts now lost." BTS used it to signify the lives lost in the Sewol Ferry tragedy (mostly children). Here, it's of course those lost "to the cubes." I love that this installation I had never heard of until I saw the "Spring Day" MV now brings an instant feeling of regret to me when the concept is used in other places.
IU is an amazing person and an amazing artist. She has an Internet show called "Palette" where she interviews other artists. The guest sings their own song, IU sings one of their songs with them, and they sing an IU song with her. It's a terrific show.

IU performed at a Korean festival in LA early in her career. Said she wanted to improve her English-speaking, so, she could converse with the fans. She has done that. She has an English language version of this song on TH-cam.

Like you, I thought she had never performed in the U.S. I saw "My Mister", and, discovered Lee Jieun, the actress, and, started checking info on her. That's how I found out she is IU, the singer. Did some digging on IU, and, during this process read an article about her performing at a festival in LA in the early 2010s. Don't know what the festival was for, or, exactly, when it took place. Didn't get the impression it was a concert. Probably a couple of songs and a meet & greet autograph session. My guess is it was prior to "Great Day".

The cube 'Nemo' represents the discrimination towards marginalized people (symbolized in IU being mute and Taehyung being blind in one eye).

IU is like BTS in the love for deeper meaning behind a song, a music video, or both. It's one of my favorite things about them all - so much more interesting than the surface-level meanings in most Western pop songs.

• *IU* has so many national titles, she is extremely loved. She's an accomplished singer, songwriter, actress having been in many K-dramas
• *V (Taehyung)* of BTS played lead male. Obviously from a well known male group, he is also an actor who has been in a couple of dramas. I know how y'all feel about not reacting to male artists but do listen to BTS on you own time. They are incredible as a group and as human beings. I suggest a guide to watch on your own called *"A Guide To BTS Members: Bangtan 7"* by Taylor Mari.
• *Uhm Tae-hwa* is the MV director, he is a huge film director with movies like *"Concrete Utopia"* I suggest watching.

What there are NOT a lot of are groups (there are ZERO on this week's *entire* Hot 100, not counting collabs between solo artists only), or non-English speaking artists (maybe a couple...I saw Bad Bunny, for instance, and there were a couple of other Hispanic artists but I don't know if they sing in Spanish or English):

IU is sensational. Her Killing Voice is the highest viewed episode. Ironically, she was sick when recording the K.V. and also had a flu and cough when recording “Love Wins All.” She still sounds like angels singing from Heaven.
IU have been making music for 15 years or so. She is a talent who have nurtured her vocal skills to a higher level. She is known for her ballets, sure, but she also do other things. You should try and listing to Holssi (if you haven't already). It's another vibe. A bit trippy but also a fantastic song :)

V's character is blind in one eye... it's why she touches that eye when first looking through the camera, and covers the other eye at the end(so he won't see the end). Protecting him, while she faces it head one. And it took Me more than one viewing to notice this.
They both appear to be Mute... to have "No Voice" in their world or in their life/futures.

If you want to hear more of her singing, I suggest listening to one of her earliest songs called Good Day. She does a high 3 note progression at the end without even batting an eyelash. She’s that good! When you read her backstory you’ll be even more impressed. She’s also an amazing talented actress and talk show host (IU’s Pallete)

Two of IU's live concert videos from her current world tour are out. To experience her popularity, I think her live concert videos are the way to go. The "Shopper" video is a really good example of her connection with her fans. I find it both interesting and fascinating. The fan chants remind me of a college sporting event. 15,000 fans yelling a scripted chant as she sings. She has fan videos instructing when and what to chant. I compare her to Linda Ronstadt, because of her versatility. I've heard her sing Pop, R&B, Jazz, Rock & Roll, Rap, Country. Almost anything, and, she sings in 5 languages. Her life story reminds me of "The Coalminer's Daughter". Whether you like her music, or, not, her talent and charisma are undeniable, and, her life story is the kind they make movies about.

As a solo artist, IU held her own and made a name for herself during the competitive 2nd gen (2005-2011~) which is mostly populated with powerhouse kpop male/female groups. Had few TV show gigs too as an actress. Her longevity is just impressive.

Yes this was such amazing song and music video I watched this over 100 times and still cry because of the lyrics and true concept and the acting by IU & V was believable good and fun fact IU Did this with the flu in very cold temperatures plus her and v had to run over 7 hours total one day while being sick she felt so bad for getting v in that part joking of course she is a amazing artist and human being love her so much
I'm glad to see you got to IU, she has several live clips on her channel that are safe to react to. If you don't want to do a live clip at this point, Bbibbi or Twenty-three would show her more quirky and upbeat side. The killing voice would be good too, if you have the time for it.

For another emotional ballad from IU, check out "Love Poem", which is supposedly aimed at people who are considering suicide. There is a live version taped in a studio that is incredible. Of her more upbeat songs, my favorite is Blueming. But for all that she is a fantastic songwriter and singer, her acting is what really blows me away. Some of her TV dramas on Netflix, like My Mister and Hotel del Luna show her incredible range as an actress and she was nominated for an award at Cannes Film Festival for her role in the movie Broker.
IU and V are good friends in real life. And they sound beautiful together too. They did a duet called "Ending Scene", a lovely song with her clear angelic voice and his smooth deep baritone.

The guy V from BTS would also be considered royalty as much as IU. He didn’t sing in this but he was a guest actor and I think he waa phenomenal! But this is the first IU song i’ve ever heard and I only learned about her from BTS. But wow I am totally a fan of hers now!

Thank you for the reaction video. You commented on IU's ethereal voice, but not on V. V of BTS was the co-actor in the MV. They did such a great job of acting. V released his first solo album recently, and it is utterly fantastic. He is part of BTS, who have been singing 10+ years together. I don't know much about IU, except she is an actress too. V has acted before as well, but this is their first time acting together, I think.

Here is some extra info about the music video... Director Um Tae Hwa released a guide explaining the MV and gave 4 Key points.
First, the "cube" signified the discrimination and oppression that are prevalent in the daily lives of the main characters.
Second, the "camcorder" represents the "lens of love," an important "device" that allows us to look at the beautiful things in the world beyond the internal or external appearance of the characters.
Third, IU and BTS V became the main characters in a "survival story of a dystopian worldview of someone who cannot speak and sees the world only through his left eye." Despite the difficulty, feeling hurt and exhausted, they relied on each other despite "cube" and tried to overcome it in the end.
Fourth and last, the "wedding dress and tuxedo" symbolize the "fruit of love." At the end where they are seen rising in the air, it depicts that they are finally "free to fly away from all kinds of oppression and pressure."

For context into IU's popularity - when an artist's song goes number 1 on all streaming services in Korea they call it a PAK (Perfect All-Kill). IU has had 22 songs achieve this feat, the runner up being BIG BANG with 7. At the moment, her song "LOVE WINS ALL" has achieved a PAK of 235, meaning 235 hours at #1 on all platforms, as well as 16 days uninterrupted at #1 on Mel0n, korea's top music platform. The song also debuted there at the #1 spot. It's hard to overstate how beloved she is on the peninsula, though it can be hard to understand for newer kpop fans, because she's never really pursued global fame or appeal. Congratulations on the reaction and for being introduced to this incredible human being that is IU! Most of her songs have a social background, which is why she is so special, as if her beautiful voice weren't enough. The man who is with her is a member of BTS called V, I don't think you know him because I saw that in all his videos there are none of BTS and I thought it was strange, but I think it's interesting to say that he is the only one in the group trained to act. and has a beautiful kdrama on his resume. He was invited by IU and despite him having a perfect voice she invited him to act because she knew that, in addition to his talent, he wanted to leave something behind before leaving and recorded the music video just a week before traveling for his mandatory military service in your country. They are both great friends and he was the last interviewed on the Palette program that IU presents and there they did a beautiful duet where they sang "Ending Scene" which I would like you to hear, it is beautiful and gives an excellent dimension of their vocal category. I recommend watching her ‘behind the scenes’ in an interview she was inspired for the storyline were for her friends who passed due to haters and bullying as well as herself and others who have deal with mean comments etc, I’m sure you understand that. Unfortunately, South Korea is a highly judgmental country and in order not to get hate or a death threats as the majority of Korean fans (and the rest of the Conservatives on earth) practice per usual if something does not suit their mental capacity, only relationship between female and male characters, in one eye blind V of BTS and deaf and mute I.U are depicted in MV. CUBE is used as a metaphor for a "perfect society" pointing fingers, trying to put everyone inside their own ugly thinking box, seeng disabilities as a curse, scrutinising, judging, abusing, insulting and in many cases killing other people with a different point of view and love preferences. The world which is trying everything to look down on "inperfects", "damaged goods", free-spirited individuals forcing to comply what they are convinced is the "righteousness". Going after minorities, hating on everything and everyone they even do not know, not letting people love who they love, not letting people be who they want to be, seeng ugliness in love and freedom instead of the beauty and power of love, the only thing real in this computer simulated programme, the game called 'Human Civilisation' you all are experiencing.

-iu is a special artist in kpop/ kmusic industry; she's very popular, but still has her own musicality/ idealism. Also she's a very good actress with some classic kdramas and even was invited to Cannes in 2022 (!!).
-yes, all facts you say is right, BUT actually its very difficult thing to do in there, like there's no similar case like her in kmusic/ kpop / k - entertainment industry in modern times (pun intended)/ last 20 years or so.

I see cube as people whom want to put down others whom dont fit in cube-people standars. And everyone of us can think - am I one of those cube-peoples who are behind that screen (V is hitting)?
