Up here in Minnesota, we use VRS for our base station. It works great for firing up the gps, tsc 7 and you’re ready to survey in under a minute. The problem is, sometimes the vrs base is many miles away , creating long baselines , and decreasing accuracies. I want to start using my own base again because I’m seeing .2’ to .4’ error with VRS, even at an airport, which is wide open. I haven’t used a RTK base for a long time because we’ve been spoiled using VRS. When you select “here” how close are you getting to the true position? Do you need to calibrate to a known point? What kind of range do you have with the r12i internal radio? Thanks for all your informative videos!

can anyone tell me the range you can get with this setup just using the internal radio in the r12?

People didn't know you can run multiple rovers with one base. I've been doing that since I started working with Trimble GPS in 94.

This is extremely informative, thank you for taking the time to explain all this. It sounds like you've ran into an issue we've had, and I hope you may be able to help.
The reason I've ended up here, is that we recently had a crew start the base a second time when doing this. I've never had a crew do it this way so I'm a little unfamiliar with what all it would affect. What I'm seeing in the data (two separate sites done the same way) is that it looks to be applying a scale factor of about 0.99995 to the first rover's data. Is there any way to correct this outside of reversing what I'm assuming is an applied scale factor?
I want to also note that when they started the base the second time, they keyed-in the coordinates for the base from the first data collector. I would expect a straight shift if they had done a here position again or mistyped the coordinate, but the apparent scale factor is new to me.
Edit* Had my scale factor reversed, the data I believe to be incorrect is shorter than true location.

You need to buy the Trimble Tri-some upgrade to do that 😂

May I inquire you to show how to setup one Rover as a repeater to extend the range for the second Rover?

Can i survey with 1 base, a rover or more, an an rtk drone? My purpose or what i think is i could address the problem when an rtk rover is under thick vegetation and the rover always floats.

Not sure I am understanding your question. Can you survey with multiple rovers and drone? Yes!

@@SurveyingWithRobert my purpose of using a drone is to aid the rover thats having a hard time getting a signal because it is getting blocked by trees. A drone could be over the trees. Am i right? Does it work like that? Or could it work like that?
Because a week ago, my surveyors are having a hard time laying out boundaries of a plot of land because there were a lot of trees. They said that the trees were blocking the signal. That where i thought if a drone rtk would eliminate that problem
