- Today we have a 2007 Dodge Charger with the 3.5L V6. The customer has requested replacement of the timing belt and water pump. They provided a Dayco timing belt kit that came with the belt, water pump, tensioner pulley, cam seals and crank seal. We found that the kit did not come with 3 o rings that are needed so you will need to source those separately. This job will require a some special tools: harmonic balancer removal tool, a crank pulley removal tool, and an installer tool to reinstall both of these pulleys, and an appropriately sized punch for the crankshaft alignment dowel. You will also need thread sealer on the 6 rear timing cover bolts that are behind the cam gears. Everything else is basic hand tools. This procedure should be the same on 2006 Dodge Charger, 2007 Dodge Charger, 2008 Dodge Charger, 2009 Dodge Charger, and 2010 Dodge Charger equipped with the 3.5L H.O. engine as well as other Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep products with this engine.

This was a very helpful video. Well explained. It is time for my TB and waterpump on my 09 charger for the 2nd time. I purchased her new and do all my own repairs and maintenance. What was very helpful was the pulling of the cam gears. I need to change the 3 wp O ring seals this time. The manual makes removing cam gears more complicated than your video procedure. Thanks.
“Since our cam bolts hold the rear bumper on” hahahahaha
UR the Man !!!!!!!!!!! Thank's 4 da Vid !!!
Your Honest !
Hahahaha “so since our cam bolts hold on the rear bumper” that was great
When did you set the timing? Whenever I try to set mines, it springs past the timing mark
Where is your repair shop located?
Would you be willing to work on my Charger? I need the exact same repair done...
Question on the timing belt removal. If you are pulling the belt off, and the gears rock back out of place (in line with timing markings). As long as you line the gears back up with their timing marks when you re-install the belt. Then that is fine? No issues?
Should be fine. That’s not uncommon. As long as you go back the direction it came from to get back to the mark.
@@automotiveinsight Great. Thank you
Great video and very informative
My passenger side cam seal is NOT going in lol I even tried freezing the seal and warming up the case and still wouldn’t go in
What did you put on the back timing cover seal when you did the 'lotion on the skin" bit?
Silicone paste. Not the sealant, but the lube kind.
There's not necessary to remove air filter.
GJ doing the right thing, what a horrible design, is anything worse than a Chrysler.
Thanks. Yeah, this car definitely has some stupid design features. But I still think I’d rather do it than the Mercedes c230 we put a front driveshaft in.
Where r u located. Need help with my jag..
"Is anything worse than a Chrysler."
How about EVERY Ford ever made after 1980! I don't know about what all yrs this applies for, but I know at least the 2015 Nissan Juke SV with the turbo connected to the exhaust manifold. Must remove the engine & trans from the vehicle. And even then, it sucks removing 10,000 heat shields and practically nearly completely disassembling the turbo just to remove it. If you don't have a lift, then you have to remove the entire front end(bumper, headlights, blinkers, air cooler, radiator, upper radiator support and numerous hoses).
This job and several other Mopar jobs that do have stupid designs, are much more appealing to attempt than those.
