  • I replaced the battery of my Sennheiser Momentum 2 0 Wireless Bluetooth headphone battery and then noticed a massive lack of tutorials on the subject, so I made my own.
    The battery removed contained the following information:
    Front side:
    +AHB62254 0N1
    5A26132-0239
    2.3wh
    Backside:
    AHB622 54 OPCT-02
    3.7v 600mAh
    11CP 7/25/40 SYNERGY
    the 7/25/40 seem to be dimensions as the battery is 7mm thick 24mm wide and 38mm long.
    The replacement seems to be s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_AUQDy6 at least the description and measurements are the exact same.

    FYI if your looking for a fix for the batteries M3 the model number is AHB702535PCT-01 for the battery ! I made the mistake of buying another battery and trying to solder it. Same price same model same shape its pretty much OEM !
    I like my M3's but looking at the new models and all the neat choices of headphones now its pretty overwhelming to go back.

    Thank you so much dude, following your guide I found that the black cable on my battery got disconnected somehow so I re-soldered it onto my original battery. It also solved that annoying rattling sound when the headset moves.

    This also helps solve the common issue of something rattling in the headphones when moving. It's caused by the battery coming loose from the tape. All you need to do is replace the tape.

    Good helpful review, mostly. I had been hoping the momentum 2 wireless would be the same procedure for my momentum 3 wireless headphones. Unfortunately the four screws sennheiser used on the M3 are difficult to figure out, could be torx or torx plus, they are very small, cant identify the screw head even with a magnifying glass. Adding to my earlier comment on Sennheiser Momentum 3 battery replacement. The 4 screws you need to unscrew can be done with a Torx Plus 6 IP screwdriver. I figured out the screw type, and found 3 Torx Plus screwdrivers on a well known auction site, the 6 IP just happened to fit the screws.

      @@w1ldfl0w3r Hi, like in the video at 0:56, after taking off the earpad, there is an oval (black plastic) plate with the driver fixed onto it, there are 4 screws (torx plus) on the plate you need to unscrew, then you can tip out the plate (like in the video at 1:05) and change the battery, which is also fixed to the plate. No stickers, the 4 screws were in the same place as in the video, but the plate is a bit different. Didn't pop out the driver as it is fixed to the plate. I bought my M3 in 2019.

    • @Purkkaviritys
      @Purkkaviritys  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, The reason why I did the replacement the way I did in the video was that I only had raw LiPo cells and had to borrow the protection circuit from the dead battery. Whether you use li-ion or lipo is irrelevant but only lipo will be the correct shape for the headphone unless you start drilling holes into it so you can shove a 18650 cell in.

    Hello Purkkaviritys, thank you for providing a tutorial, I'll be using this when the time comes to change the battery, any tips on hardware disabling the microphones? Do you think that will work for stopping the ANC? I'm having a hard time with the ANC, my ears can't take the pressure.

    • @Purkkaviritys
      @Purkkaviritys  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It may or may not disable the ANC, depending on how the phone firmware has been written, I have a feeling that since the Momentum 2.0 are a always ANC on device, I feel like it more than likely wont disable the ANC, and may cause further issues. Depends heavily on how its implemented.
      I see 2 possibilities of what will happen, 1. you disable the microphones and the device thinks its in a entirely silent environment and ANC output goes down, or that the exact opposite happens and you get flooded with white noise. tbh I don't know what will happen ¯\(°_o)/¯.

For sure it is not possible to replace the cable without removing the rubber from the edges of the leather bridge and then you need to solder a lot of wires. This might be a long shot but I figure I'll ask it anyway. My Momentums have recently starting to turn itself off during use. I figured it must be a bad connection somewhere, a bad cable or maybe even damage to the pcb. So I opened both sides and inspected them. I can see no visible damage to the cables, sodder points or PCB. I don't think it's the battery since it still holds a pretty decent charge. When the headphones turns off I can just turn it on again and it functions as normal, untill it turns itself off again in a couple of minutes.
    I don't know what's wrong with them. If I can fix them myself I'd rather do that than buy new headphones. Any ideas would help.

      sounds like the battery is the problem tbh.
      If the wiring was the issue, you likely would not be able to charge it at all nor would it turn on if it was internal wiring issue.

    • @ABDLLHSDDQI
      @ABDLLHSDDQI ปีที่แล้ว

      I am having the exact same issue. Opened them up today, no visible corrosion or loose wires. Even tried gently shaking wires with a tweezer while sounds were playing, didn't see any change. I didn't take teh PCB in the right earcup out to check the other side though. My problem got consistently worse over time, before it would happen occasionally, now it happens very frequently. A small amount of shake or movement somehow triggers it but its hard to understand what type of jiggle makes it happen. I have tried shaking either side while holding 1 side firm, but still didn't see anything on 1 side to do anything more noticeably to cause this. Since this started, the mic also does not work on video calls on PC, unless I use the USB wire to connect to a PC using USB headset mode and select that mic. Mic works on phone video calls, but the headphone is also turning off frequently. Might need to email Sennheiser and see what my options are. I love these headphones too much to get new ones. Used for just over 3 years now.

      is there any corrosion you can spot inside the headphones, because if they have had water ingress it may have broken things. Outside of that its hard to say. it might be that one of the chips that power the thing is broken.
      The corrosion is technically usually fixable, provided you can replace the corroded parts.
      Other than that, I would look at the cables connecting the 2 halves of the headphones together and use a multimeter to test the continuity, as in does the power reach from the battery to the other side where the charging connector is.

      @@DOMEROCK well, you'd have to diagnose them first to see which if any are broken to be able to replace them. There are way too many components there to just try to randomly replace them.

      @@DOMEROCK provided that the chip has text that tells you what it is you can even find the parts, digikey for ex might have the part. This is why it would be great if we got right to repair trough so I could have access to the schematics so I could even look where is the most likely thing to break and then buy the parts instead of having to stab in the dark for a possibility that I manage to stumble on the broken thing by trying to reverse engineer how the device works.

    Welp, this video kind of confirmed that the issue I'm having with mine isn't necessarily a dead battery (thank you).
    When plugging mine, the led would light up red and stay red for a few minutes, then turn off.
    The headphones never turn on either.
    Tried replacing the battery, same problem still. Then I made the mistake of plugging them in a fast charger, which seems to have made matters worse, because the led doesn't turn on at all anymore.
    The led does flash red twice if I plug them while the battery is unplugged tho.
    Aaaand I noticed that one of the two wires for the bluetooth got loose during this process, so if I can ever fix the charging problem, I'll have some soldiering to do
    Does anyone have an idea of what it might be? I'm considering getting my hand on an electric meter at this point :/
