Happy diwali AB... Finally... welcome to the club😆 I think I had recommended bulb upgrades sometime ago, in one of your night drive videos before the pandemic... don't remember which one though... I had taken this plunge back in 2014 with my Indica and since then have never skipped this mod/accessory in all my future rides. Fortunately all my rides have been with h4 setup. I always buy relays online, currently using a brand called thimson. I have tried out most of the bulbs in this 100 w range. My personal experience is... Philips tends to give a slightly whiter bluish light, but goes kaput within a year. Hella gives the normal yellow light and so far have been using them for the past 2 years. They seem to last longer. Recently tried out the Hella Rallye bulbs which have a very noticeable yellow tinge but not enough for the cops to notice. Tried them out during the rainy season here and used them for my trip to Hyderabad in August and Rajasthan in October. Heat is always going to be the main issue and there is nothing much one can do about it. Though I have never experienced blackening/yellowing of the reflectors in all these years and I believe that happens mostly with the 130/100 w bulb setup. I am currently scouting the market for a good projector setup to run hid or led's. But the cost is prohibitive and the after sales are dodgy. Will probably wait to upgrade to a ride which already comes with a projector setup and then again play around with different bulbs...😉
Iph projector + lumax 55w hid kit 4300kelvin ya 5500kelvin best setup hai. Projector mein lgega. 9-10k mein. Ye best setup hai high watt halogen se better. High watt halogen is not a reliable solution.
@@green_life7 A hid 55w kit definitely offers way better illumination than a high watt halogen setup. But is also nearly 10 times more expensive too and fitting an after market projector setup in a conventional reflector headlight housing is a big gamble. The ballast on a 55w hid tend to have a shorter life span than normal 35w kit. The bulbs of an hid are also more expensive than a high watt halogen. This entire exercise would actually make more economic sense if a car already had projectors fitted stock from factory. In my opinion cost and reliability are both equally important factors. But that's just my personal belief... cheers
@@judesaldanha555 the high power bulbs and relay costs approximately 2k whereas ihp projector with lumax hid kit costs 9-10k. The high power bulbs have no warranty whereas the hid kit comes with 1 year warranty. Also HID bulbs are very less prone to malfunctioning as they don't have filament. I am not talking about reflector retrofitting. I am suggesting projectors in fog lamp location. Also the iph projector costs just additional 2.5 k and the lumax hid kit costs around 6.5k while chinese brands cost 5k or even less. Projectors in fog lamp give additional lights than head light. If money is constraint, then we should go with hella high beam halogen projector module which won't need additional wiring and is quite suitable to be solely or in addition to the main head light. It also costs around 2.5 k which is very near to high power halogen wiring kit. I am simply "against" high power bulb wiring relay method as I have tried them in many cars and at last either changed them with HID or auxiliary lights. They fades the reflectors and after some time the light output falls even below normal 55w halogens and regular relay malfunctioning as well as bulb fuse is very frustrating. I am very "experienced" with various light upgrades. Currently I have put on STEDI light bar from Australia which is un parallel and is the brightest light bar.
@@green_life7 It was a pleasure to read your detailed reply. Nice to connect with a person who has done considerable research on automotive lights. Nevertheless I think we are going off topic. This vlog is on headlight upgrade. Retrofitting such an elaborate and expensive setup in the fog light position is pointless since their true potential and spread is never achieved. There is a reason why fog lights are placed so low down in the bumpers. And moreover there always runs the risk of blinding oncoming drivers in the search of the perfect beam pattern from so low down. And as far as the new motor vehicle laws in India go, any additional auxiliary lights, other than those coming from the manufacturer in their stock position, are illegal and can lead to a fine. So the best way to circumvent this law is to upgrade the existing setup which is exactly what is being discussed. In fact, AB has a video on a LED light bar setup on his scorpio, do check it out if you haven't seen it yet. It's a stealth setup, pukka James Bond style. I am glad to know you have found your perfect illumination setup in the form of an led light bar. I am guessing it would have a setup of both floodlight and spotlight pattern led's then. I too have read up and selected on cree led's having such a beam setup but since I do a lot of inter state travel here in India, I am avoiding these cop magnets completely. As and when I do change my car, my first priority is to search for a ride which comes with projector headlights as stock.
Indeed in India you have situations where brighter lights are needed and should be used considering oncoming traffic.Wouldnt installing dome lights be equally effective without the hassles of increasing the wattage of the stock bulbs? Just a thought.
Ashish ji, I have a question. With this upgrade, what was your feedback on the heat aspect. Assuming the wires are finolex or heat resistant and the holders are ceramic or compliant with H7 bulb type.. did your head lamp heat up and can prolonged use damage the reflector or the front plastic cover of the headlamp
Mat upgrade krna high power bulbs jo hein vo light ko damage krte hei long term mein. Upar se relay mein baar baar fault aata hai or badalwani padti hai. Best hai fog lamp mein IPH projector ke saath 55w lumax ki HID kit lagwao. 9000-10000 rs lgenge par ultimate performance milegi
