[Love in Flames of War 良辰好景知几何] In the early part of the 20th Century, the Republic of China is struggling to establish itself, with the Imperial Japanese posing a growing threat to Chinese sovereignty. Against this backdrop, Xiao Bei Chen (Shawn Dou), a hotheaded teenager is growing up fast. He likes to bully a girl who has taken refuge with his family named Lin Hang Jing (Chen Du Ling), but she shows resilience and determination even when he intimidates her - a fact that ultimately leads him to fall for her.
The attraction grows, but Xiao Bei Chen discovers that his father wants to send him away to a military academy for several years. Before he leaves, he manages to get a promise from the family that he can marry Lin Hang Jing when he returns. But when, five years later, he comes back, he discovers that she is now promised to another man - Mu Zi Zheng (Yuan Hao). No longer an impetuous bully, Xiao Bei Chen has become a steely, focused young man. But he won’t give up on his plan of winning Lin Hang Jing’s heart. This plan could be thrown into turmoil when the Second Sino-Japanese War breaks out in 1937, however. Suddenly all three are forced to choose a side - and their decisions could shape the destiny of not only their own futures, but also those of thousands of others...

To anyone who got lost here, I want you to know that this is one of the best Military Chinese dramas I've ever seen! I thought I'll be disappointed but it was great. I never thought that I'll fall in love again with military dramas after watching too much military dramas like Arsenal Military Academy, Arrange Marriage with Bossy Marshall, Autumn Cicada, Circle of Love, Operation Special Warfare, and more. It's been a long time since I got bored and nothing caught my interest until last week, I just searched on TH-cam, Chinese military drama and I was scrolling down I was caught by the title and I felt like I found a gem. I started watching it then. It gave me satisfaction specially on how the story unfolds. I love all the characters because they gave justice to it. They nailed it! The casting was amazing because they portrayed it accordingly. There were a lot of twists and I have predicted some of them but it still gave me a surprising reaction because each actor delivered their lines and emotions naturally. The main protagonists, Beichen and Hanjing were very natural and I could really feel them especially when I looked at their eyes. Superb! My most favorite male actor is Beichen because of the fact that he portrayed his character professionally. It's like I'm watching a real childish guy who got inlove and was changed after he entered military. He became a wonderful and disciplined man. He didn't disappoint the people he love. He became the best and was sorrounded by a beautiful and supportive family. He was faithful and willing to sacrifice things even if it means he has to die. He was a good friend and leader. I just love him! And for my favorite female protagonist, my favorite one was Aunt Qi. She was so dear and loved her family. She was understanding and never meant harm to anyone. She was an instrument to let anyone in her family be connected. She was a wind who let everyone sleep peacefully. She was an amazing woman, a mother, aunt and wife. She's my fav.
To anyone who wants to watch this, don't let your guard down! This drama will play your emotions! Other times you feel happy, kilig, and laughed so much but other times, you'll get sad, cry so much and get depressed! You'll get your blood boil! They really portrayed their characters so well that you will cry especially the climax part. Though this drama hurts me so much that I have to cry, I assure you guys that this was really one of the BEST Chinese Military drama! Their lines were touching and you can feel the heartaches of the heroes and their family. It was not easy to protect the people you love, the country , your motherland. Salute! to all the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the protection and peace for humanity!

There is something weird in this series, I m not Chinese but I believe this series is about 1940-ish Beijing and there was no fancy cars and fancy of youngsters ‘ jackets🤓😝
@@sylviaagatha730 i've seen worse and from Hollywood movies no less. In historical movies/dramas their are bound to make some mistakes. It's a good plot, the chemistry it's visible, i like that FL it's not some damsel in distress or one that's playing dumb only thing that remains is to hope that will have a happy ending.

There always been a great drama when actor and actress has a great chemistry.
At first I'm not interested of the war genre drama. I watched it because of step sibling love. But i started loving the overall story until the end. This is a masterpiece and i highly recommended.
I just finished watching this today, and this drama really needs an award! I can't contain my emotions especially the ending! You guys nailed it! Each of you deserved an award especially Bechein, Hanjing, Weiyi, Zi Jun Instructor Du, Uncle Ding, Zizheng-- I got a crush on Zizheng for some episodes because he was kind and selfless but it didn't ignite because he became blind and obsessed! 🥹😭😭😭😭

Just finished this long version drama since I wanted to understand more than the short version presented. Really excellent performance of the cast of characters giving credence to the roles they played. The ladies dresses are exquisite! You get to love Biechen & his loyal friends Weiyi & Zijun. You'd hate the villains. All your emotions will be played as the cast gets to you! What an outstanding Cdrama!
I never get tired of watching this drama again and again. I am addicted to watch dramas that has Shawn Dou in it. He never disappoints us with his excellent acting skill. love the story also. Thank you to the writer, Director, all the actors for brilliant work and sure management team for bring this masterpiece to us.

I thought it was a fantastic script, the excellent performances of each one of the characters. I especially enjoyed the setting and the historical information texts that always challenge us to learn more about those events between nations. Thanks for that.
Only the passages about love, deceit, lack of love, betrayal seemed too long... I see that such intelligent characters fell into naivete and were so easily deceived. I felt even repetitive lies and evil facts from the same guys...
