    You two will never understand how much music was not only on the radio but TV as well.
    TV shows like Midnight Special, Don Kirshners Rock concert, Solid Gold, Hee Haw, Sha Na Na, Saturday night live, Ed Sullivan, Pop goes the country , American Bandstand, Soul Train as well as all the variety shows like Sonny and Cher, Donny and Marie, Tony Orlando and Dawn etc....my generation was so lucky to have been able to see all the hottest artists that were hitting the scene 💯💯💯

    "I Will Survive"
    Song by Gloria Gaynor
    {The song's lyrics describe the narrator's discovery of personal strength following an initially devastating breakup. The song is also frequently recalled as a symbol of female empowerment, as well as a disco staple.}
    {Although Gaynor was convinced that "I Will Survive" would be a hit and tried to persuade the label to release it as the A side, the label refused to entertain the idea and it was released as the B-side to "Substitute". Gaynor's husband took the song to the Studio 54 DJ Richie Kaczor, who loved it. Gaynor gave Kaczor a stack of the records to give to his friends. Other DJs in discos and radio stations soon followed and played that side of the record instead. The popularity of "I Will Survive" led to the label releasing the song as an A side. To support the single, a video shot at Xenon Discotheque in New York was released.}

Linda Greene Tavani was the third "Peaches", who appeared on Reunited, which hit #1 in 1979 and their other biggest hit Shake Your Groove Thing earlier the same year. I remember this was a smash hit all over our radio waves in the 1970's. Not with this only song. They had a string of hits. Peaches and Herb are kind of like the black Tony Orlando and Dawn. Same time period. Same target audience.. They are in same category musically as Tony Orlando and Dawn. Same music. Same style. I have always found them very similar, in my mind. And they sound so good. Both sets of artists. Love them.

Go watch En Vogue reaction Never Gonna Get it when Jay has a natural reaction to one of the women and Amber shoots him a look. He then starts closing his eyes. It's hilarious.

    Their original hits were in the 60's with a different Peaches named Marlene Mack they had to big hits "Let's Fall in Love" and "Close your Eyes". This is Linda Greene who had the huge hits in the 70's. "Shake your Groove thing", "Reunited" and 'Pledge my Love". This song Reunited was a sequel to "We'll be United" recorded by another great soul group called The Intruders. Both written by Freddie Perren and Dino Ferkaris. Freddie Perren has a huge string of hits in the 70's. I Will Survive, Boogie Fever, Jackson 5, Cooley High movie and so many more. A forgotten Legend.

    I have a very specific memory of roller skating at a rink with my crush to this song. It was such an iconic song that was played over and over for years on top ten radio stations. It’s def a great prom or other sort of romantic songs. My fav romantic duo is With You I’m Born Again with Billy Preston and Syreeta. Very sweet song that was a hit from a not so memorable scene in a basketball movie with comedian, in a serious role, Gabe Kaplan called Fast Break. The song was the only memorable part of the movie as long as you didn’t watch the movie cuz Gabe Kaplan was not really a romantic lead actor so the song didn’t fit. But the song g was so great that it became a hit all on its own layer down the road. Do check it out if you haven’t already

    Herb Fame (born Herbert Feemster in October 1, 1941) has remained a constant as "Herb" in the duo Peaches & Herb since the duo was created in 1966.
    Seven different women have filled the role of "Peaches," most notably Francine Edna "Peaches" Hurd Barker (April 28, 1947 - August 13, 2005), the original "Peaches" who lent her nickname to the duo, and Linda Greene Tavani, the third "Peaches", who appeared on the duo's biggest hits "Shake Your Groove Thing" (1978) and "Reunited" (1979).
    "Reunited," evoking the 1960s Peaches & Herb hit "United," reached #1 on both the Hot 100, the Billboard R&B chart, and in Canada. "Reunited" was nominated for a Grammy Award for Song of the Year in 1980.
    Fame had retired the "Peaches & Herb" act in 1970 to become a policeman. The Peaches & Herb act lay dormant until Fame decided to re-enter the music business and revive the act in 1976. In his search for a new "Peaches," Herb enlisted the assistance of Van McCoy, who suggested that Linda Greene would be suitable for the position. Fame met Greene and concurred, thereby leading to the formation of the most successful of the "Peaches & Herb" incarnations to date.
    Linda Greene left home as a young adult, became roommates with soul singer Natalie Cole, and began singing with a band in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Soon after her move to Virginia Beach, Linda was invited to perform as "Peaches." She later married Stephen Tavani, who had been writing and producing for Smokey Robinson. Linda and Stephen released three gospel albums and started the charity WOW (Winning Our World).
    Meritxell Negre was the last "Peaches" to record with Herb Fame in the duo, thus far. Together, Fame and Negre recorded "Colors of Love," the first album from Peaches & Herb since 1983 and released in May 2009.
    Herb Fame has since returned to touring with Wanda Makle/Tolson as "Peaches." (Sources vary as to Wanda's current last name being Makle or Tolson.)
    The seven "Peaches" are Francine Edna "Peaches" Hurd Barker, Marlene Mack, Linda Greene (Tavani), Patrice Hawthorne, Miriamm Wright, Meritxell Negre, and Wanda Makle/Tolson.

    Actually Peaches and Herb was not a couple. Herb was married with children. Also, he was a former police officer. As a matter of fact, there were several Peaches down through the years, including Herb’s daughter.

    There were many different Peaches over the years but only one Herb. To my knowledge he was never a couple with any of the girls that went by Peaches but they sure would make you believe they were. I remember as a kid seeing them perform on tv and when he started kissing her neck from behind I thought for sure they were married but they weren’t even a couple! Their voices were precise, smooth and so intoxicating. It’s a great song sang by great performers with great voices!❤
    We were lucky to live in a time where artists were just that artists. It was a performance and they made you believe it. I still know this song by heart! It is an iconic song! I still have the sheet music for it from back in the 70’s when I was learning to play clarinet lol!❤
