Why is SNL still on?
There have been multiple periods during its long run that people asked that, followed by brilliant periods when they produced some of their funniest material. I remember the cocaine period in the 80s when the whole cast was obviously high all the time. It was awful. Will Ferrell started around the end of that period. That is one example, but there are several.
@@andrew_owens7680 You're confused about SNL's timeline. Ferrell started in 1995, after a strong period in the early 90s with Myers, Macdonald, Farley, Rock, Spade, Sandler, Schneider, Franken, etc.

Because 1) every talented person alive cannot fit in the cast of SNL, 2) Lorne Michaels has a vision of an ensemble and that involves chemistry as well as the ability to write and improv and 3) it's his show, he isn't perfect.
