Of course I would. It's amazing. No wooden walls, no single glazed windows as in the US "best country in the world". 🤣 And Russians even have central heating and hot water. Very cool 👍
The apartment looks good and the condition seem pretty good too, isn’t rent rather expensive for Moscow area? Similar apartment in a similar building around Sofia would be 300-400 Euros/month. 🍻
Are you going to be also in the army to kill innocent in Ukraine? You will get nice money from Putin to afford such a horrible apartment. And you will be a hero with bloody hands. Awesome.
It would be roughly $3,400/month in the US. The rent is 45,000 roubles/month. Minimum monthly wage is about 15,000 roubles. Minimum US federal hourly wage of $7.25. So 7.25*40*4 x 3 = $3,480.
@@juzzoo I think we’re taking about the same thing. In the US *_the rent_* would be approximately $3,480, or three times the min monthly wage, which is $1160 (assuming full time, 4 weeks of 40 hours, $7.25/hour). Why should we consider rent three times higher than the min wage? Because in Russia the minimum wage was about 15,ooo roubles, and the monthly rent was 45,ooo, so three times higher. Did I make a mistake?
This apartment was a lot nicer than I had imagined. I could live there easily. Some of the furniture needed a little updating, but certainly was usable.
Yes, I expected something a lot more basic. The kitchen was nice and we have a Samsung FF very similar to that model, but I'd miss a tumble dryer. The bathroom would have made a great second bedroom and a bath- or shower-room could have been slotted in somewhere else (bedroom balcony?). The layout, the lack of a proper shower and no tumble dryer would probably put me off, as well as it being a high-rise. The bathroom acoustics might be great for a singer ... not so much for their neighbours :). I just find it astonishing that, given the amount of land in Russia, they feel the need to build high-rise blocks at all - seems like a throw-back to Communist times.
i am from russia. the desing is rather what we call 'country man design', my first rented apartment was something like this. i prefer more stylish things now. i moved to one of the biggest cities and i have pretty apartment and underneath there are hairdresser's, drawing studio, language studio, nail studio, 3 deliveries from our amazon-like websites, two bakeries, some walk-in clinic, dry cleaning and ball dancing studio. my windows show me another house, a bit of forest and a parking lot on the right, but from the next wing of my enormous house you can walk to school in 5 minutes. it's super comfy.
I would throw out the leather sofa and dinette set. Some paint and smart decorating could make that apartment look like a million bucks. However I’m not sure how they get the washer/dryer door open. Looks like it’s tucked into a closet with the wall in the way.
Sounds amazing. How much a month? Americans fail to realize salaries are different from the US to Russia and food as well. You have water, some places gas, eventually that will phrase out, and electric. Apartments over here depending where we live in what state. In San Francisco one will pay almost 2500 for a studio or more. Same in NYC. Other places in the country are cheaper. Cities are more expensive to live where the jobs are.
This apartment is very similar to many in Germany (maybe even a bit larger)...Except for that bathroom....It's huge and very nice. Love the Tub... I also like the two balcony's. Thank you for the tour.
Similar to Eastern Germany, maybe. At least from the outside style. There are also similar buildings in the West, but only from the 60ies/70ies and that‘s it. Nobody would like to live in those holes unless he had to.
This is very good apartment for Russia, and I was very surprised having seen jakuzi there. Usually most Russians live in old Khrushev apartment , the same like left after Russian Army in military bases. Like in Uterbog for example.
It's a lie. Another ukr.lie about Russia. we still have some kruschev buildings left, but 1st, the majority lives in modern houses like the one on the video, 2nd old houses are rapidly replaced by new, its a government policy.

This actually looks like an old Russian luxury style. About 2000-2005, when people with money kind of ignored design projects. Now it looks a bit cheap even by Russian standards, but I can say it is made by people with money because of amount of square meters and jacuzzi.
Hi, Ms.Pamela A. here. It reminds me of something Donald Trump would build in Russia. Hey, wait a minute, who owns that building? Lol, just kidding. I’ve stayed at one of Trump’s hotels in Las Vegas, 9 years ago, and this apartment sure does look a lot like the room I stayed in. Except it was $500.00 u.s. a night and way less than half the size of that apartment.

I’m impressed. Was not expecting such a nice living space. I’m very surprised to know these apartment buildings have several businesses under them! That’s so convenient! This video has completely changed every impression I had of Russian apartments. Thank you for sharing this.
The shops and stores are the old glory of the USSR. The old neighborhoods were planed for pedestrians not cars like in US. So you had all your shops, kindergarten, school within walking distance. This is a new building with plenty of parking and pretty high rent prices for average Russian. This is also a Moscow suburb wich is a different planet compared to a periphery where people live without indoor plumbing or utilities (yes! you have to heat you flat with wood if you can afford it).
@@IsleNaK So the lower class must live in really bad conditions. In the UK high rise flats like this are considered the last resort! A one bedroomed flat for about £300k or about £20k per annum rent. Ruzzia must be a pretty miserable place to live........

Therefore, the cost of such an apartment is quite affordable. PS You don't have to trust me. Just look at the cars in the yard of this house. And don't write any more nonsense

@@JamesCAsphalt8 But those wouldn't be this cheap. I just googled convert 45,000 roubles to USD and it's $487.12. Show an appartment that you can get for that price... ;-)
At $487 in an urban area in the US, the cockroaches, mice, rats addicts and gangbangers would make living in the housing intolerable and unsafe. However, in the country or rural area of the US, the rats, roaches, bed bugs, meth heads, cartel, and sex offenders would make the place intolerable.
There are flats for all tastes and budget. I think the cheapest you can get (outside of commune rooms) is like 3 times cheaper than that what Russel showed here. But it's gonna be a tiny flat in an old house. Everything's gona be worn out but... Yo'd still get central heating, hot water and stuff like that. Just basic quality of life things.

Well it’s not gonna be too old of a house there is a federal program in Russia where government either renovates older apartment blocks or relocated people to newly built apartment blocks of equal size if the building is too old to renovate.. So every month there are less and less of those “old apartment blocks” you are talking about 🤷♂️
Loved the apartment size and the huge bathtub. The kitchen is great. Nice and modern and the fridge is beautiful. I would live there. The price is also great. That was fun seeing how people live in other places. I would love to see more of this type of video. Thank you for showing that.
I'm not superstitious, so 13 is fine. I just realized today is Friday the 13th. It's also a Canadian thing to take off your shoes/boots and put on slippers/sandals. The view is nice and lots of space! I really like that the bottom floors of these buildings are commercial. CAD and AUD are quite comparable. I don't know about living with someone else's furniture, though. It seems unusual to me, but each culture has their differences. Most long-term rentals here are unfurnished. Thank you for the tour!

The flat builders are thoughtful by installing all the extras and I particularly like the clothes hanging fittings in the balconies & all these for a cheaper monthly rent costs in the West.I wish builders in the west take note
Right, its the small things that make a difference with these kinds of places. Someone thought out the placement of things. The air dryer on the balcony is a nice touch.
cheaper monthly cost "in the west" Exactly. but in Russia only 0,8% of citizens has salary higher than 700$. Even in Moscow, most people has salaries around $700 or less. And only some small % has higher. So this 1 bedroom apartment is not affordable for most Russians. Working couple can afford it. But single person not. That's sad part of story. Well. Actually many Russians get such class apartments as a gift by company. But you need be very valuable specialist or have specific rare profession. But still yeah, it happens quite often. Construction engineers, militaries, some other important engineers get new apartments as a gift. "Studying is life".

In Russia, you REALLY need to take your shoes off. Also, putting legs in shoes on the seat in front of you in the trains is not a common thing compared to Germany, for example. The reason for that is that after the WWII and especially in the 60-70's Soviet cities were designed in such a bad way (and probably intentionally) that spaces with open soil were left everywhere and mostly not isolated at all. Instead of e.g. lawns, small rocks or smth like that what could keep the dirt away, like in all cities in the developed nations, in Russia every rain- and snowfall causes "shitlavines" of dirt and sand, thus making shoes and cars very dirty. Same for the sidewalks too. And our water drench system is crappy as well, either it's non-existent or it works only partially. That was not a thing in Russian Empire though, because the cities were elaborated in a European way, and not in the communist one.

For that price I have a two bedroom apartment here in the Midwest USA. Our mail and laundry are in the hallway and all utilities are paid by the renter. Electricity, water, sewer, garbage. I’m surrounded by by two big parks and a swimming and golf course.
I’m from America and was pleasantly surprised how nice the Apt was. I would make bathroom smaller & if possible enlarge sitting or living room. Overall nice apt w great lighting
Nice apartment! Thanks for sharing. Apartments in the US tend to be smaller, but they have more bedrooms. Building in our cities, like New York, are usually built of concrete. Housing in the suburban areas are mostly wood. Our homes here in Florida are mostly concrete. I like the way your stores are so close to homes. Americans tend to rely too much on cars( except for big cities like New York). Wishing you all the best. I love Russian people and Russian culture. Sending you wishes of peace.❤️❤️❤️
In the apartment buildings in FL you can hear through the walls the noisy neighbors with their music out loud , stomping on the floors, dogs barking like crazy and so on . I don't know what kind of "concrete" is that. The insulation is very poor in those buildings.
@@ioanayt the house in this video is very poor in that way. Old soviet houses was more comfortable for noise haters. But it is cheap to build such apartment houses so nobody cares for sound insulation anymore. If you want silence - buy the land and build your own house (it could be also cheaper than this apartment).
It really depends on where you live. We have lived in the middle of America. Mostly ranch-style homes. Then we moved to California. The homes are built for the weather there. Now we are in North Carolina, again, with different types of homes. I like houses here the best, So many are large two-story with screened-in sun-porches. So I would say it really is a person's taste.

The Wildberries concept, where you pick up your packages, would be a great idea in the U.S. where home-delivered packages are being stolen more frequently. Somebody could make a lot of money with that type of business.
@southernwanderer7912 I am going to have to do a separate video on this place. My wife uses it almost every other day for small one-off items, free shipping on anything you order. If you won't want it or don't like it at the time of pick up, you simply hand it back.
@Jeffrey Ornstein Wildberries is a little different from Amazon Pick up. Wildberries is generally more fashion oriented, so they have a concept of where you can shop online, then go to one of their locations where they have fitting rooms, try everything on and keep whatever you like and return the items you are not happy with right there on the spot.
I could definitely live there. Spacious and nice floors. Love the bathroom. Large closet. I really loved the sunny balconies for sunny days in the winter. The apartment was bright and light.

I think this apartment is very nice. The hallways & elevators are very plain & utilitarian. But the apartment is the exact opposite, as nice as many apartments you'd find in the western world. I like the furnishings, too. He said that they bedroom furniture was dated. It would be something his parents or grandparents would have. I'd guess I'm about his dad's age, maybe a bit older. So I guess that's why I like it. It's rare to find a furnished apartment for rent. $700 USD is inexpensive for a furnished apartment. If this apartment was in the USA, it would cost 2 - 5 times more, depending on the location...
Nice look at a Moscow apartment. Very spacious and comfortable - easy place to live in. I am in California, US, and notice one interesting thing - we would not have such a large entry foyer/vestibule (the other apartment you showed also has this). Aparments here usually open directly into the living room. The rents here in the big cities (LA, San Fran, San Diego) will be about 4 times more and often times not as nice as this unit. Thanks for posting this.
In Russia, almost everywhere there is an entrance hall in apartments, even if it is a small apartment. There are two reasons for this: 1. Warm air stay in all other rooms in frosty weather when you enter the apartment. 2. In the entrance hall, you take off your shoes and outerwear without spreading dirt throughout the rest of the apartment.
Since 45,000 rubles is about average pay and skilled/educated 60,000 to 75,000, the rent on this apartment, 45,000 plus utilities, makes it quite expensive.

The funny thing about Russia is that the house facades can look terrible but in the apartments can be super nice... newly renovated etc. unless you choose the old soviet style of course.

Utilities are about $130 which includes water, sewage, electricity (heat/air). It is not a bargain, but inflation has driven the prices higher by at least 15%. Thanks
Comparing the prices we should take in account the average salaries. This price is around 50-60% of the month salary in Moscow region. In other regions 45K rubles is even higher than average salary. 500$ is common salaries there, have no idea how people survive, as prices for products are more or less the same🤷
@rubikjonmy nephew lives in Zelenograd, his wife and him both work temporary jobs. Total income about 65K rubles and rent of small apartment is 30K rubles. They are still 35-40 y.o. and when nobody will hire them? Sad reality
Nice apartment. A lot of space especially in the bathroom …😊 The furniture is also nice, maybe too much dark colours but it’s only for my taste. Hope that it also have a good connections to public transport to get to Moscow fast.
I like the space also, i am not a fan of the dark kitchen though. I like much lighter colors to make the place seem brighter. From this building its a 6-minute walk to the bus stop to take you into Moscow, or a 14-minute walk to the train station directly into Moscow Centre.
This apartment is beautiful. And the PRICE! So cheap. I love the decor. Sure it’s not for everyone and I myself prefer lighter colors, but it’s unique. The tulip tile is very nice. The windows all around would uplift anyone’s mood. It seems to be built very sturdy. What is the crime rate? …just wondering as a woman and being in the hallways.
The crime rate is not that dangerous in the areas like that near Moscow. Most of foreigners/expats in Russia ( including Americans and Canadians - ( my wife is a Canadian, I am a Russian ) say they found Russia being surprisingly safe ( contrary to their initial expectations ). Some crimes in public hallways, stairwells inside of the apartment buildings may still occur ( they were more typical in past, say in late 1980-es, throughout 1990-es and in early 2000-es but have become very rare now ) but chances are very very small. “And the price” - according to the American standards this apartment is really cheap ( for the apartment of such a level ) but it would seem like quite expensive one ( maybe a very expensive one ) for an average working Russian person.
cheap if you compare this to a 1 bedroom apartment in London, but in the rest of the UK you can easily find a 2 bedroom apartment that is much cheaper, with bills for heating and electricity included
I hope the "Жилинспекция" authorities are not watching your channel - installing a central heating radiator on a balcony is a violation 😆 On a serious note, it's nice to see our life through the eyes of someone from abroad.
@@TravellingwithRussell The authorities are quite serious now about things like that. And like it was mentioned in one of the comments here, the owner is at high risk (especially now, lol). NO WAY! unless a family here(USA) is destitute(or blind), that apt, with the layout, the colors, the decorations...this apt is EXACTLY what we picture Communism would build. seriously, UGH.
This apartment would cost a fortune in New York city. Hope to visit Moscow, st Petersburg, Siberia. Russian food is healthy and good. Thank God they kicked Monsanto out.
@@leroyleach7581 Ummm. No. There are a lot of older apartment buildings that look a lot like that in older east coast cities in the US (NY City, Boston, Philly, DC metro). Now there are many much nicer ones. But the newer, nicer ones tend to be half that size and double the price. An apartment that size, in that condition, in DC proper, in a half-way decent neighborhood would easily go for $2,000+. In the VA close-in suburbs it would still go for over $1,600 in a so-so neighborhood.
@@leroyleach7581 , you definitely have a very good opinion on Communism if you really think that this apartment is what Communism was going to offer .. 😅 lol I lived in Soviet Union ( I was born in 1973 ) when the official social formation was called Socialism and the Communism was a primary goal for future for the society to build. And I can tell you that all of the variety of apartments which Soviet Union’s construction industry was offering is nothing like the apartment shown on this video ( except some enhanced style apartments for those who were taking a certain positions at the Communists Party, bosses, etc. ). Most of the Soviet style apartments were looking way less fashioned and way smaller in sizes than this one - they were more primitive - to say in two simple words. I can proudly say that this kinds of apartments is the product of the new Capitalism era in the post-Soviet Russia when such a big and quite a luxury style apartments have become available for simple people to buy ( if you have enough money ) or to rent.
Wow, you could live in that tub. I do like the idea of having the shops on the ground level if you don't want to go out. And the price no shabby at all.
Hi, These videos are so interesting! Super nice apt. I love the open concept but I would prefer to have a smaller bath and entryway because that would give you more living space and possibly even another bedroom. Nice view, playground and all the shops in the same building is awesome! Decent price as well. Thank you!
Gorgeous and I agree! I think I'd use that extra space for maybe a nice dresser or credenza. A small desk and chair maybe. Maybe a wardrobe for extra clothing space, bookcases or DVD storage cabinets I'd find use for the space! 😉
I can't find your comment about salaries in Moscow, I answer here. You said that the average salary in Moscow is $ 700 or less - this is not true! Don't fool people, the average salary in Moscow is about $ 1,500. You will not live in Moscow for less than $ 1000. And there are no salaries of $ 700, only illegals from Central Asia get that unless. Although all salaries are in rubles, as you understand.
Large unit with a very nice view for an absolutely amazing price. All that black is rather gloomy for my taste but the upgraded appliances, great tub and double enclosed balconies are a nice bonus. The landlord has spent quite a bit in updating the unit but the common entryway and hall area sure could use total renovation. Still, for that kind of a price, I’d take it. 🇨🇦
You should keep in mind that for Russia, it's an expensive place. 45 000 rub is an ok monthly salary, 60 000 is normal for a well educated person in Moscow. Also, getting into the city from that place can easily take around two hours.

It would be roughly $3,400/month in the US. The rent is 45,000 roubles/month. Minimum monthly wage is about 15,000 roubles. Minimum US federal hourly wage of $7.25. So 7.25*40*4 x 3 = $3,480.

How much do you make a month? I heard average salary is $1000 a month.

In norway we take our shoes off when we come in the house👍
Very hygienic and practical🙂
Thank you! 😃
Yes, its a standard here in Russia also, no matter whose house or apartment you walk in.

2. In the entrance hall, you take off your shoes and outerwear without spreading dirt throughout the rest of the apartment.

I was curious of that also. I hadn't seen one like that before in all my years living in Russia. Thanks.

Quite elegant and fully furnished too. Very nice ^^
I think it was very nice. and to be furnished for the price it was.
I loved this tour! Thank you ❤ i have always wanted to know this kind of stuff!! The apartment was very nice!
It’s a lovely apartment! Needs a bit more decor, but has fantastic potential.
It’s feels very spacious and it’s good for many things.
It was nice and spacious inside.
Russell, could you do a tour of a single family house in the Moscow region? Not the one with an outhouse of course but the one with all the amenities included. Thank you in advance!
The one with an outside house is usually a dacha. The ones you see from the window view of this video as more typical family homes.
Even though some things are a bit funky I'm pleasantly surprised at how modern the apartment is inside especially the kitchen, love the look of the appliances and the glass top stove. I really like the floors in both the main living and kitchen.
Was that a side by side fridge?
@@Patrick-yh5yd Yes.
Very nice video. Didn’t see a dryer in the bathroom. They have room for a shower but probably prefer tubs just to get warm!
That was a beautiful apartment and well presented. I am amazed at how cheap the rent was. In New York City that place would rent for $3000 a month.
For real..probably way more, the walk in closet apartments go for $1000-$1500
I have apt in NYC and $5500 a month would be cheap…closer to $9500 for small one bedroom.
@@michelecaron that's insane..my family is there and I been there a few times and I know apartments are crazy..i just don't know how people can afford that much, unless you're a celebrity or millionaire how does the average person do it?
669 dollars a month and average wage 700 not a normal choice.
Yes, this one is cheap - according to the American standards. However, when you look at an average Russian person ( or family ) income then you won’t find it very cheap though 😊
I love that apartment, especially the bathroom! I never saw such a nice tub in any of the apartments I had over the years here in the US. Thank you for sharing this!
Those types of tubs gross me out. 🤢
@@ShadowsandCityLights Me too!
The tub looks to me like something in a hospital or rehab. Not very attractive or relaxing looking.
So where do you live in the states that is so much worse than this??
Huh? When was the last time you went to the bathroom to do your laundry? Then you have to stand in the toilet to get to it.
Nice vlog Russell.
The apartment looks good for a couple, but tbh I couldn’t do with the furniture not my taste, plus couldn’t sleep in a bed full time which isn’t mine.
The apartment isn’t for me as I love to have a garden, which we entertain in the summer.
But can understand people who want an apartment because they don’t want a garden.
Which is great, as everyone likes different things.
Fair enough! Apartment living isn't or everyone that's for certain. It's very common that places that are rented out are furnished like you see. Sometimes more basic than others.
No clothes dryer?! That would really suck, especially in the cold temperatures there. 😏
Nice place! My parents were in Russia when it was part of the Soviet Union.
You defeated the purpose of wearing the slippers inside after wearing them outside first. The whole reason for changing out of regular shoes once you get inside apartment and into the slippers is so you won’t track in anything nasty inside your home. 😊
How many sq feet
Very nice! A few years ago I watched several videos about apartments in Russia, this was quite a upgrade!😊
Thanks Russell another great video, always look forward to your tours of different venues. From Geoff in Australia
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks mate. Bit different for the channel. I really wanted to do this for a long time. Even make the channel only this at one point, but i found it impossible to get anyone to give me keys to places. I will do them every now and then as i get a chance to though.
Like your style ,like your video style with one camera , plain, simple ,easy ,no fancy stuff , just the facts, plus you're entertaining..... you seem like a nice guy and I just subscribed..... so you got one more person on your list ...😁 look forward to seeing more of your future videos, now I'm going to go check out where else you've been and what you're doing in the past..... Thanks, Peter.... keep up the good work......
