to this day he is still one of the most difficult guitarists to copy... He had a really unique combination of skill sets / chord science / note placement / effects pedals / musicality... All that he had in his bag of tricks came together just magically - in the late 70's he created what would become the 80's guitar sound
This is really great. He was in Dublin promoting his Photography Exhibition I think that December. The band played Ireland the previous year (supported by a band called U2). They didn't play there again until 2007. Andy comes across so well here, as he always does in my book. A real wit. Thanks for the post.
Ghost in the Machine is probably my favourite Police album, the production quality is phenomenal and all of the tracks really let each member shine. Thanks for the cool little find!

Summed Andy and his talents up perfectly. So spot on 👍. Cheers
All 3 of them were SO talented they're a true gem of a band.
It’s refreshing to observe such an accomplished guitarist so incredibly down-to-earth. Great interview.
Being a Yank, I've never seen this show before. I really like Andy's interview style. Laid back and droll as expected.
With a good smatteting of intelligence.
The interviewer, Gabriel Byrne was also a gifted anchor.
he has such a soothing voice
Andy always seems to be a blonde Dudley Moore with his double entendres. Always wish Omegaman had been released as a single. Great song
Should’ve been!
Believe it or not, but Gay Byrne was only 7 years older than Andy in this clip.
Andy Summers was 38 but looked like 28, Gay Byrne was 45 but looked like 55
very honest, eloquent and intelligent person

GITM has grown on me - Regatta will always be #1 but Ghost opened the band up to new possibilities
Mio Dio, la sua chitarra mi ha fatto sognare.
I remember seeing him when he was young and In Zoot Moneys Big Roll Band.
Doubt it.
Loved,loved the Police
THank you for posting this!
Great guy
Magnificent Skills, Legends willing to work, Shredding it up!! Sir Andrew to the Rescue!!
I always liked the bastard
The Police are my favourite band.
If I had a dollar for every cigarette smoked in that studio...
Amazing-not one single 'f-bomb' dropped (nor a tattoo seen)! A refreshing change from, say, your average Dave Grohl interview.
Dave who???
What’s wrong with Dave grohl?
@@benl5341 Dave overexposes himself. It's irritating. It actually took the death of his drummer for him to go away.
Grohl is very entertaining in my book - but love Andy
ahh i misss the days when a rock band was something significant in the media, compared to todays toxic pseudo political garbage
If he only knew about the double neck, and I don't mean his guitar. Time is a bitch.
I saw 'Ghost In The Machine' Tour ( Wembley Arena, 1981 ) With Jools Holland & His Millionaires, Supporting
