    Today I learned birds can't digest salt. Cool.

      Ye! That is actually why you shouldn't feed them bread.

    Small note. Birds can in fact eat spices. Capsaicin is a defensive measure from plants to keep animals that aren't either birds or adapted to spread the seeds of plants from eating them.

    And the Zora eat fish too....I know it's not cannabilism, but it always felt close.

      It's mostly because fish generally look alike. We eat pigs and cows without issue and they're mammals, just as we are. It's just that there is a lot of visual diversity in mammals that just really isn't there for more specialized groups like fish and birds.

      How it feels close? Zora are humanoid and fish are oval things xD

    I also wonder if they dont use spice because they don't taste it, my mother used to feed chilly to her bird and the mfer never even flinched

      Would make sense. Spice plants depend on birds to spread their seeds, so there'd be no evolutionary pressure to keep birds away.

    While we're on the topic of Zelda cuisine, I'd like to know more about what Goron cuisine is like (I know there are Zelda wikis that explain Goron diets in depth, and I've even seen a theory video where Goron's eating habits make them equivalent to walking smelters, but I'd still love to know more). Fore example, are Gorons capable of eating rock salt like the other sentient species (excluding the Rito, of course) of Hyrule?
    Also, what is their poop like? XD

    • @Drakenwild
      @Drakenwild  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Based on the games it's just rocks, man xD Generally Gorons give off earth elemental vibes to me, they might not be wholly biological to begin with. Depending on what exactly is going on with them, they might even have 100% efficient digestion, which would mean no poop. Well, either that or they poop out broken down parts of rocks which don't fit the mineral make-up of their bodies. I think that'd be rocks, too, just purer...?
      tl;dr: rocks

    • @generaltechnomage306
      @generaltechnomage306 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Drakenwild Interesting.
      However, in some of the games, Gorons were also shown to capable of eating metal, lava, milk, and Wooden Hearts.
      Also, if Gorons don't poop, then why does the Goron baby from Majora's Mask wear diapers?

    • @Drakenwild

      @@generaltechnomage306 then my gut may be wrong, lol. I'll definitely look into it more before the inevitable Goron video!

      @@Drakenwild Update: Tears of the Kingdom confirms that Gorons can also eat inorganic lifeforms (assuming the Marbled Gohma is an inorganic lifeform, and not something like a rock construct or an earth elemental spirit).
      Also, since Dondons poop out gemstones, it gives a hint as to why Gorons don't like the taste of them. XD

    • @Drakenwild
      @Drakenwild  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@generaltechnomage306 maybe it's all dead remains of inorganic lifeforms we don't know about. Maybe that's why it's called a rock *roast*. (cue xfiles theme)

    Shouldn't there be tons of spices though? It wouldn't be hot to them, but I'd imagine that since peppers normally want birds to eat them to spread their seeds farther, they'd be extra delicious to birds.
    Though maybe they eat spices more like we'd eat fruits and apples. Not always with meals, but rather like their own snack.

    • @Drakenwild
      @Drakenwild  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I mean, it depends on the kind of spice? They definitely eat the peppers as a veggie but like I said, salt they can't ingest, Goron Spice is probably rock-based, so they might not be able to ingest that either. Other than that it's a question of which herbs that are used as spices by Hylians are poisonous to the Rito, since most of human spices are plants that are toxic to most other animals.
