Creating a handmade custom DIY surreal art collage is easy! I share my tips and techniques on how I create my analog collages as I cut out pictures and illustrations out by hand with a small pair of scissors and a craft knife. Finding inspiration from old books is one of the most fun steps to this process. These can come from used books, encyclopedias, magazines, vintage postcards, or anything else you can find lying around your house. I find most of my books and magazines from thrift stores, antique stores, flea markets, Craigslist, or even on the side of the road! Watch as I arrange my elements and try different ideas as I talk through my process to create my final design.
Collages made out of paper have a custom made feel that you can't get from a digital collage made in Photoshop. And, there is an added challenge of only being able to use materials that you have access to!

Very cool. I have the "but what if I need that entire jaguar/tiger/squirrel another time" virus. I can never quite comvince myself that cutting it apart to see if it works will be worth what happens if it doesn't work. I need more courage.
I always loved old stuff like books, magazines or postcards, so i decided to try collaging and its so much fun! your videos are a great inspiration for me as a beginner and I'm excited to try new things. By the way... I would be interested in a video where you show us all of your favorite books, magazines, etc. and how you stay organized!

You should totally have put the frog head on the elephant. The fable about the mouse and the elephant. It's very interesting all this stuff, because nobody understands the difference between religious otherworlds as differs between Chinese, African, Native American... and the cycle of Greek and Islamic stuff.
