The intriguing thing about this is that it is the one. albeit highly enjoyable, theme, played over and over again. There is little development of the theme as such, where development is standard practice in music. Instead it is just played in various styles on the violin. It works and is brilliance.
#ugottalisten2b4udie The "Carnival of Venice" is based on a Neapolitan folk tune called "O Mamma, Mamma Cara" and popularized by violinist and composer Niccolo Paganini, who wrote twenty variations on the original tune. He titled it "Il Carnevale Di Venezia," Op. 40. "If You Should Go to Venice" and "My Hat, It Has Three Corners" (or in German, Mein Hut, der hat drei Ecken). ie Pistol Packin' Mama" and Merv Griffin's "I've Got a Lovely Bunch of Coconuts". Prior to the release of "(How Much Is) That Doggie in the Window? ", composer Bob Merrill penned "If I Knew You Were Comin' I'd've Baked a Cake".wiki
I know that both Paganini and Ernst wrote variations for this but what I'm hearing here is a very popular version - I've heard Kirill Troussov play the same version, and other violinists play this version as well. Is there a score written by a modern violinist that I haven't seen yet? The left-hand pizzicato in the video here is much more exciting than what I've seen on the existing scores. Also the fast chords variation and the "drunken" octaves variation.... they do not appear on the scores I've seen. So I am curious! I hope someone can help me out in finding this particular version, since I am keen to learn it as soon as possible!!!
for me this is one of the best renditions of this piece
well done Vadim Repin!!!!

I think only International Music Company offers the pieces of Paganini (if they're not the 24 Caprices)
