  • Arizona’s State Supreme Court will enforce an anti-abortion law that predates the founding of the state, while the presumptive GOP nominee for president can’t decide where he stands on the issue. In sports news, for the first time ever, the NCAA Women’s basketball final was watched by more people than the men’s final.

Actually, that kinda misses the point. While very rare there are medical terminations of pregnancies in late term just about everywhere including the USA.
I felt Pete Buttigieg addressed this best when this question was asked. He actually knew the number of reported late term terminations and some of the tragic circumstances surrounding such. He stated that why would anyone want other than the family and physicians involved make such decisions. Late term terminations are also allowed by laws in those US states with moist restricted laws, Floridia, Texas, etc.
Perhaps the question ought to have been asked of former President Trump as to why his political mates supported late term terminations.

@@russellmiles2861that's only when they know that the child is not going to survive, and the mother risks sepsis or other health complications. Pete buttigieg always has excellent statistics and facts to back up the arguments, but again the way the Republicans make it sound is that women are having terminations in the third trimester without any complications, or that they do it after the child has been born which is not an abortion that's just murder.

    • @russellmiles2861
      @russellmiles2861 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@joannefitzpatrick992 yes, politicians spinning yarns for electoral benifits.
And I think Pete Buttigieg point was that you or I would never want to be in the position of making such horrid decisions.
And to be frank: what you assert as murder is very unlikely. In another career I did have some involvement with such things. My late wife had direct involvement. A good mates son what allowed to die after birth. It was apparently going to be minutes but it took 9 days. Huumm, with my own relatives I recall a few times where medication was going to alleviate some pain, but would also hasten death.
This is just like in the medical World. As Pete Buttigieg advised we ought be relieved we have no part in such.

That's the thing about 'late term' abortions, they are not done because a baby is unwanted. They are because of fetal abnormality. So many things can cause miscarriage or still birth and medically it's far more humane for a fatally ill fetus to be terminated earlier than to be born only to die with a more developed nervous system!!
Pregnancy is too complex to legislate, there are so many variables. As soon as your take away rights from patients and doctors, women and babies suffer.
You can't convince me abortion bans aren't about controlling women and children and seeing them as property. It's like letting a cashier fly a plane instead of a pilot.

Because now the doctors will wait until the extreme last stage of sepsis to perform a life-saving abortion, as they will be worried they can now serve 2 to 5 yrs of prison if it was deemed "not near enough to death" of the woman, according to this 1864 law.

Any man who impregnates a woman not his wife shall owe that woman no less than $50,000 plus child support (based on income but no less than $700 per month) until the child is 18 years old. If a married man files for divorce from his wife before a child is 18, he shall also owe $50,000 plus child support. If the man is a minor, his parent will be financially responsible as stated. • @sion8

When territories become states there is/was a clause somewhere in their originally adopted state constitutions (they could have adopted another in the intervening decades or century+ since statehood) that says that any laws already in existence, unless otherwise contradicting the new constitution and/or the federal one, that it stands unless new law takes over afterwards.

    • @ashleyneku5432

When territories were initially incorporated into the wider United States at their conception, many had existing rules or common laws that would need to be carried with them, lest it lead to troublesome relations and a lot of legislation after. Imagine incorporating a new territory and then immediately asking them to elect legislators and rewrite every single rule they've ever lived under to serve the US.

As a non-American the whole abortion thing is depressing. In a healthy society abortion is necessary like divorce but it should still be seen as something that is not to be actively celebrated. Sadly, the obsession to block abortion elevates abortion to a place where it shouldn't be. If the pro-lifers truly care about American lives, then they would be much more concerned about the insane loss of life from guns and the ever increasing wealth-inequality that means many Americans don't have proper access to life-saving healthcare. It is ironic that some republicans place higher ontological value on a human blastocyst than they do of a young American child living in a poverty.

Yet somehow killing embryos to protect a living person is unholy and must be banned under the “rule of god”? Let’s also not ignore the fact that Republicans are forcing religious beliefs onto people who don’t believe Christianity and doesn’t care about those kind of stuff, in a county where you supposed to have freedom of religion, including the choice of having no religion.
