- Let me show you how to apply red lipstick using make-up artists techniques that will help keep your lips from feathering into vertical lip lines, and fading for hours!
Some women don’t like the long lasting formulas because they can be drying.
In this video I use a traditional lipstick formula, so you can use any of your old favorites with this technique!

Yes, it's a very classic way of doing lips, but I feel it has been forgotten by many. Italian ladies are very classic and stylish - good at these things :-D
Leonora Bruno, I learned this in the 70's and I should start doing this again. My aunt showed me when I was 16 years young.

Great technique! When I was much younger, I loved wearing bright red and deep colored lipsticks. However, since I've gotten older and developed deep wrinkles/marionette lines around my mouth, I'm very hesitant to wear such deep colors as they seem to accentuate them. When I do feel brave enough to wear them, I sheer them out and stay away from matte lipsticks.
Thanks for your comment, I totally get that. Sometimes I use Burts Bees lip color, it's like a tinted chap stick, and they come in a couple of cheerful red and rose tones, you might like them.

As a red lipstick lover I am going to try these techniques for sure. I have so many shades of red but I usually wear only the lip stain even though I hate the way the feel. I can’t wait to start wearing my regular lipsticks following your tips. Thank you 🙏

There are lip-staining products that don't feel drying, like lip oils with color, or lip crayon stains :) Some very moisturizing red lipsticks also give a stain.

Thank you for this video! Ugh. Back in the day, I had "Bee stung" lips that are now Leona Helmsley fish lips. If only I could get fillers in my big mouth! LOL!! Seriously. I stick to nudes and light colors because it takes forever to get the hang of a red lip but you made it look so easy! I'm definitely going to try this. I normally fill in above and below my lips with clear chapstick. I'll try the primer. I have the wonder stick by NYX and love it. Thank you! I may be sporting some red lips one of these days soon!!

Thank you Cheryl, I have actually been using castor oil for my lips lately! I was applying so much lip balm, and of course you end up ingesting quite a bit of it over time. I like castor oriole because it’s OK if you ingest it, end it really helps moisturize your lips. I use it on my eyebrows on my nail beds and yes on my lips. Hope this helps!

Hi thanks for your comment, glad you liked the video. The color I'm using here is a cool red, cool reds make the teeth look whiter than a warm red. I use Crest White Strips BTW, only about twice a month, they work great!
Finally!! Well I turned 48 on 9/9. I never smoked or drank, but I always feel like I have lines (probably in my head lol). I don't wear makeup, so how do I do my lips? I do use lip liner, and my lips are kind of full...I think my lower a bit bigger though. You look amazing! Thank you!!
Happy belated birthday to you! Make the most of those full lips - you can always go a little over on your top lip to even them out. They don't have to be absolutely perfect to be pretty though :-D

Just subscribed a few weeks ago...I am really enjoying your videos. I love your style and look - simplistic and sophisticated. Would you consider making a video on your eye look in this one. It's so fresh and open your eyes but doesn't look overdone. I am not a huge eyeshadow wearer but realized I need a polished look to make my eyes more open. Great red lip. The primer after MAKEUP??
I did all my makeup before hand, except for the area around my mouth, so that's where I did my primer, then foundation.
It seems almost impossible to find a decent but inexpensive lip primer in the UK ( that isn't moisturising/plumping) I think all I looked at the reviews were not good. I never use foundation, all I have tried feel too "fake" I always use lipfinity as it lasts from dawn to dusk without fade... all that is except the RED...sadly.
My lips always end up looking like yours at 4:15 in your video...suggestions?

I don't wear red, but any lipstick feathering is not the effect we're going for. As a 58 year old who wears nudes/brownish-pinks, first I line my lips with lip liner of my choice. Next, I use a stiff small angled makeup brush and brush the clear wax from an eyebrow kit around the outside line of my lips. Last, I color in where I lined the lips with lip stick. I just saw this recently on another channel and it is working for me.
