Hi Alistair, thank you very much for your kind note. I appreciate it. It is a really enjoyable bike to work on and it is cleaning up very nicely. I’m having a lot of fun and trying not to go too fast and just enjoy the process. It’s like therapy! 🙏😊
for some reason I really enjoy that first clean up on a new project and then obviously standing back and admiring it before kicking her over for the first time great bike they say that all pinstripers have their own style and you can tell who the artist was due to their signature style especially if its from the West coast. thanks for the videos!
Thanks a lot Mark, yes I completely agree. It's the anticipation that is so enjoyable, isn't it! I'm hoping to reach out to the pinstripe or one of these days, as I believe that they are still in business in California. Best wishes, Mike
Mike,I can tell that you are a very patient man. There are so many parts that we just forget about until you have to disassemble it. Always enjoy watching your videos. 😊❤
Thanks a lot. I'm really enjoying working on this bike. Haven't made much progress in the last couple of weeks, but trying not to rush it at the same time 😉
What does is say about the severity of my sickness that I find a video of a man removing rusty fasteners from an old motorcycle, and wiping it down with WD40, so satisfying?? Damn right it's heavy, it's a part off a real motorcycle. T minus 5. Friends of The Mighty Garage should swing by A3-A6, if you know, you know.
Going to be a great series. Nice idea chain stays in situ when removing rear wheel, bad design you cant get the wheel out when the bike is on level ground on the centre stand.😅
Mike, have you decided on whether you are going to change the paint? Having watched this and the other videos, my vote is to keep the old warhorse exactly as it is now. No other BSA in the world will look quite like it. As it should be. Cheers mate.
Forks are 'misaligned', in the yokes? Right hand shock backside 'relieved' to clear the lifting handle!? Investigation required. Back of tool box 'repaired'? Is that a manufacturers sticker on the left one? If the eyelet rubbers are that worn out, perhaps start looking around for some replacements. Wondering if this bike might take a little more sorting out than first appeared, ain't it mostly the case...
Mate, for those really stubborn bolts you should use a strongman bar, not a nice ratchet, I have seen enough of them fly apart, and they weren't cheap ones either.
haha, I know Bruce. It still makes me wince when I see and use some of the American spellings and pronunciations (favorite, tire, aluminum, solder/sodder)! 😉😉
We didn't get to watch you struggle with changing the tires? Did you take them to someone or do them yourself? I've never had a BSA. Kinda cool that you can pull the wheel off and leave the chain and sprocket in place. Is that what they call a quick release wheel ?
Hi Dave, I didn’t change this tire myself. They had a Labor day special on at cycle gear for $25 and I thought that was a great deal and saved my knuckles 😀
Just wondering if this BSA used witworth fasteners or SAE or metric? Also if witworth do those sockets fit a standard 1/4" or 1/2" drive ratchet or do they require some special witworth ratchet?
What are your plans for the bike? Are you going to clean it, make it mechanically and electrically sound and then put it back together or are you going to restore the bike?
From the perspective of another BMW Owner (R75/5): I have to deflate the tire to pull the wheel out between the the rear wheel drive and the left side luggage rack .
Was a real delight watching you work on the A10 Mike. 👍

Nice old Girl , bit of elbow grease few parts consumables & bingo another saved great stuff .
Cheers Greg.
Great project bike. Going to be a good adventure. Cheers Mike!
Interesting to watch, as always, thanks Mike
She has been properly used before. Good bike life. Speaks for her. 👍
Fascinating indeed. Thx, Mike. Gonna be interesting to watch the whole bike come together like new (nearly!).
Great progress Mike !
Thanks a lot, John, glad you are enjoying the video. Best wishes, Mike
Thanks for posting this one Mike! It's always a joy to watch the progress
Hola Mike, 👋 👋 👋 saludos desde México.
Keep up the great work Mike, what a cool machine.
Great job, it's a solid start for the rest of the project ! 👍
Looks so easy when it's done by someone who knows what they're doing!!!
That is a cool bike. Look's like it's going 100 mph sitting still. 😎👌
This video was very calming while drinking my morning cuppa :)

Steady progress & so far 😅nothing to drastic apart from fair wear & tear by the looks of it Mike?
Thanks as always for sharing. atvb t .. 👍.. 🏍

Loving this thank you 👍

From the perspective of a BMW owner, getting that back wheel off, looked really hard work! This bike will look fantastic when finished.
Ha! BMW know that their owners are clueless so had to make it easy to remove 😅
labour of love .

Hi Mike. Lovely video but just letting you know there was a typo with the word “tyre”. 😉

Quick Detach

@@TheMightyGarage $25...sounds like robbery , though I haven't taken a wheel in over the last 40-years...maybe the rubber is harder these-days

Mike, can you use a metric trickle charger on that positive battery ground connector ????
Has to be Imperial
Another great vid, but please don´t use a hammer on the ratchet. :-)
What are your plans for the bike? Are you going to clean it, make it mechanically and electrically sound and then put it back together or are you going to restore the bike?
how many split links are on the
chain
Hi Richard, there are 98 links in the chain and 2 split links right next to each other. Cheers, Mike.

One misdemeanor count of ratchet abuse, Mike. First offense? Hopefully we won’t see you in a brightly colored vest picking up trash somewhere.😄
Nice to use throw away medical gloves when cleaning and servicing the back ends of the a&b models…..
