This is so awesome. I watch videos made by both of you and seeing you together is awesome. I am truly passionate about blockchain security but I wasn't sure how to start. Listening to you, Andy, and learning from Patrick helped me audit my first contracts/submit findings. Important work you are doing.
I wish i started earlier. I am not ready at all to apply for his company. I was gonna make the transition 4 months ago when i subscribed to your channel.
@@andyli do you think the huge amount of people joining web3 security right now is going to make it harder to land jobs. i see huge amounts on twitter and most of them land their audits through twitter and they have a decent following.
The book Patrick is referencing in the beginning, "I will teach you to bei rich" is by Ramit Sethi, very smart guy. Great podcast, congrats on all your progress, Andy! Learning a lot from you! Same goes for Patrick of course, always fun and great teacher! 👏🎉
@@andyli I’m surprised you didn’t mention slither or any other tooling in your process. A few videos ago you mentioned automation, do you not use the Slither VS Code extension to help audit? I’m curious on your tooling and if you have done more experimenting.
For sure. Obviously there are a lot of bugs and especially logic errors it won’t catch. I was just curious if you ever looked into custom detectors to find low hanging fruit. I do like the integration with VS Code and being able to jump to interesting pieces of code. I do see a lot of warnings with the default scans; hundreds of hits for “use of assembly” is definitely not super useful, lol. Interesting stuff. Thanks again for your insights! I have no idea what I’m doing, just experimenting and learning for now. Cheers!
Andy did you learn any coding languages before learning Solidity through Patrick's course? Or was solidity (and Patrick's course) your first experience with coding? You seem to have done really well learning it, but most people who get into solidity already have several years experience coding in other languages. Awesome episode by the way. Keep up the great work.
My question now is ... How do i find a buddy to audit with ? I am really convinced that i will learn 10 times more working in a team. Also is it harder now to land a full time job
Andy, hello. Can u help me,please? I have a question:i signed up in code4rena with, let say 0x5 metamask address, but I lost access to it. I can log in with my username + password). However, in payment information I attached another metamask address, let say 0x6 address. So, when I get a reward, what address will receive a reward?Old or new?
@@andyli aaah, i was referring to team red pill because how he spoke about money at the beginning of the talk, you know, red pill, the matrix, the truth 😁

Slither is only 1% of the audit process. Run it at the start of an audit and confirm if the output is legit, usually it is false positive

Yeah I had prior programming knowledge before Solidity. Not a developer though, just with automation scripts here and there.
Have you consider putting that type of interview on Spotify popcast ? Would be insane
Yeah actually it is! open.spotify.com/show/2xXpTGcLzOVscrLDbgI4yq
