I cried. This reminded me of Free Willy so much and made me think of how all of them and currently in marine parks deserve to be with their families like this. Just in a moment, I felt and thought of all those things and bursted in tears and bc of how beautiful this is. Thank you.
I think the late returning Salmon could be what's drawn them here. It's now December and still seeing a fairly consistent amount of salmon coming up the river. We were so dry on the coast for September and October, most of the salmon had to wait on the outer west coast until the rains finally came so they could continue their migration to spawn.
It's become quite unpredictable for Southern Resident presence in the Salish Sea, but at least some of them have been around pretty consistently in the month of September in recent years. Definitely expect to spend some time to here to increase your odds.

Just beautiful. As it should be, wild and free.
Thank you, thank you for sharing! What beautiful clips. So good to know they were able to all be together.
They are just too beautiful ❤️❤️❤️ I love seeing them all together 💓
Magnificent ❤
so majestic..excellent video..thank you!
Lovely.
They are so beautiful. We don't have orcas in Croatia so the only way I can see them is through videos.
It breaks my heart that this community had 30% of their population taken in the 60s-early 70s to marine parks and they're still struggling to recover

Indeed - there's been a great chum salmon return this fall that was perhaps a bit delayed with our dry start to the season!
Saw some Pender scenery in this compilation. Live on Pender but never have got to see this!! So magnificent!
Super Pod in November? That's a new one for me!
Compared to a year ago, this is some incredible progress with video quality. Well done.
Thanks for the motivating words Claire!
When is the best time to see them in this area usually? Seeing them in the wild is at the top of my bucket list!

❤
Now imagine this but at a number of 200 orcas, which is where they should be at.
