Hub and me used to eat out three times a week, but a lot of the time, the food was mediocre and very overpriced. We rarely go out now. I don't miss it tbh. I cook at home. So much nicer and probably healthier and a lot, lot cheaper for sure.

Well things must have changed in 15 years when I drove 3500 miles from Essex round every inlet in Scotland. NOT ONE DECENT MEAL ANYWHERE! In several restraints the sauce in the starter was the same as the main!! In anything that resembles a restaurant the prices were outrageous for rubbish. Given the wonderful coast - no fish! Best was a smokie in a cafe. So to see this is no longer the case in wonderful Scotland.
Brill! I love how authoritative you were about not having had a lamb shank on the channel before! Pulling the lamb off the bone was the meat equivalent of the chocolate flake ad back in the day. Great close ups. My head starts moving involuntarily to the screen on these shots. Lovely video ❤
Some of these so called celebrity chefs restaurants could learn a lot from a place like this when they charge extortionate prices for very poor quality food and treat people like mugs ,such an enjoyable review to watch gary you nailed that one number one restaurant number one reviewer keep up the good work

Try a pickled onion Monster Munch sandwich - open a corner of the bag enough to vent it (cm or so), crush the MM almost to powder and stick it between generously buttered slices of WHITE bread. You can add a twist of black pepper to elevate it even further!

I can see why it's No.1, food looks delicious and the presentation is good. All restaurants should have more than 1 option for mash, it benefits from adding other ingredients and goes so well with sauces and gravy
This is a real contrast to the M&C video I watched earlier, the value for money is outstanding in comparison. As always, lovely to see an honest view on these places.
£23 for that lamb shank was incredible value and equally £18 for the chicken , both dishes looked unbelievable , Mr Stein and Mr Ramsey look and learn because that is how you do it , 10* so easily deserved Gary , great review as usual my friend 👍
Not cheap for Edinburgh......but massive portion... I hardly eat out anymore because the prices are ridiculous...But I would pay 23 quid for that lamb. Compare that to what you would get for the same price at the average mediocre pub chain tho...lol.
Edinburgh is my favorite city in europe and i have visited a lot of cities! So i love when Gary trying places there so i know where to go to next time ! Love it you are there !

Gary, I have to say that both the lamb and chicken look to be the most delicious meals I’ve ever seen on your channel. What I can’t comprehend is how your son is able to keep calm and stable while filming. I have been fortunate enough to visit Edinburgh three times, and must confess it’s the most beautiful and culturally historical city I’ve ever seen! This restaurant is just off the Royal Mile, a short walk from the magnificent St Giles Cathedral. Great to see you in other cities of the UK, really and truly enjoyed this one. It's also busy because (apart from the fab food) it's on the Mound which is the main thoroughfare between the Old Town and the New Town so they get loads of tourist traffic. It's well deserved too for good, simple cooking.
Last review it was a Glasgow “budget”meal this time an Edinburgh Award winning restaurant and how does Gary approach his reviews ,with the exact same non bias and enthusiasm and rating the food and establishments openly and honestly. Another enjoyable review.

Gary I've been to this place back in 2021 and my experience then was incredible and one of the best meals I've ever eaten. Also had to have a cheeky whiskey on the side while I was there. Cant wait to return to Edinburgh and go back here. Great review.

Looked at another reviewer's video of a restaurant in Italy where the bill came to 590 euros per couple (200 euro min/person) and the meal was so small and bad that the reviewer left there still hungry.This restaurant in Edinburgh shows that simplicity is what we as customers value more than decor and fancy presentation. Definitely deserving of the national and world rating and there are many many more places like that in Scotland just waiting to be sampled. Loved the review and your 10* rating was spot on!!!!!
I remember before the days of BSE my dad could get a whole pile of lambs necks from the butcher for next to nothing and make lambs neck stew. The best bit for us kids was sucking out the bone marrow. It's sad we don't have local butchers anymore and even if we did spinal bone marrow is banned.

I was thinking at the start, please don't let this be a let-down for you. 🙏 Seconds before you said "Loads of you are gonna say, not lamb again "... I said to myself, I bet Gary orders the lamb! Lol! 😅 Fantastic sounding menu & the dishes looked amazing. How the meat fell away from the bone & the sauces! Yum!! Beautiful, flavourful meals. The chicken would probably be my personal preference & I'd make short work of it too. 😋 That was gorgeous, what a tantalising review. I felt it had to be a 10/10. I think that’s not really the norm. In 99% of the places where you pay more the services is better. The service is oftentimes dreadful in cheap places

Gary I've been to this place back in 2021 and my experience then was incredible and one of the best meals I've ever eaten. Also had to have a cheeky whiskey on the side while I was there. Cant wait to return to Edinburgh and go back here. Great review.

Looked at another reviewer's video of a restaurant in Italy where the bill came to 590 euros per couple (200 euro min/person) and the meal was so small and bad that the reviewer left there still hungry.This restaurant in Edinburgh shows that simplicity is what we as customers value more than decor and fancy presentation. Definitely deserving of the national and world rating and there are many many more places like that in Scotland just waiting to be sampled. Loved the review and your 10* rating was spot on!!!!!

I remember before the days of BSE my dad could get a whole pile of lambs necks from the butcher for next to nothing and make lambs neck stew. The best bit for us kids was sucking out the bone marrow. It's sad we don't have local butchers anymore and even if we did spinal bone marrow is banned.

Fantastic sounding menu & the dishes looked amazing. How the meat fell away from the bone & the sauces! Yum!! Beautiful, flavourful meals. The chicken would probably be my personal preference & I'd make short work of it too. 😋

One of my favourite cities. I was there in 2016 and always said I would return. Another great review Gary. Thank you so much. The lamb and the chicken both looked delicious. Love the way you can choose the mash to compliment the main dish.
