Thank you so much !!!! I’ve NEVER seen this stitch in my 74 years! You’re never too old…..🥰🥰🥰😘
Agree with you Joy i haven't either such a joy our Marion is and so full of knowledge and wisdom x
Happy I'm not alone just had my 75th birthday. Wish I had done this years ago it's so wonderful and relaxing
And that stitch is only about 1000 years old. 😊
Thank you Marion for your video and sharing this interesting stitch. Another new one to me ,but what an excellent filling stitch. Having only done crewel work from kits it's has not appeared in the stitch legend. It is so much fun expanding our knowledge of stitches, thank you.
There must be thousands of stitches out there.. 😊🪡
Hello Marion. Thank you for this tutorial, in which you have explained and demonstrated this really useful stitch in such an easy to follow way. Bayeux stitch is such a wonderful way of filling an area quickly without using very much thread/wool and is so versatile. I wish it was used more often - but I think you may just have started a bit of a revolution on that score!
I don't know about that Angela.. I'm doing my best to show that embroidery is not so difficult as people mainly think.
This is a lovely stitch, and you have illustrated it so well. Once my hands have recovered from all that shovel work I am looking forward to trying this. Your stitching always reminds me of just how satisfying it is to try something new and challenging, just to see how it will go?! If it turns out half so well as yours I shall be tickled. 😊❤
Thanks Lesa 😊🪡
I haven't heard before, thank you for your video ❤
Another lovely stitch I haven't heard of before , until Wednesday's tutorial which I enjoyed ,I found it so easy to do on my crewel flower , I did it like you with small left over pieces from the colours in my work , I'm learnt so much from you Marion Thank you ❤xx
Oh that's lovely GIllian. I bet yours looks just as lovely and colourful as mine does. I felt I was being a bit of a rebel in not stitching the threads in the proper way... But I'm happy with how it all looks.
@@marionsworld24 not quite finished mine yet Marion, but when I look at the hoop and see the colours on there , it makes me feel happy and I think I have done that 😊 xx
Thank you Marion! I learned another stitch with your tutorial! ❤

That's a clever way to fill in an area and conserve thread. Good option to satin stitch. Thank you, Marion.
Another stitch that will be helpful to master. Thank you, Marion. 💖💖💖
Thanks for showing us these amazing stitches Marion. Never seen or heard of some of them. Very interesting 🎉
Sorry, me again 😀 have you/could you do a little video showing the difference between crewel wools and embroidery threads and why you would use one instead of another? Can I just say, you’ve taught me so much with your tutorials 🥰
Hopefully you've seen my latest video Donna... Just done something like this..😊
@@marionsworld24 I have yes, and thank you very much 😀
Thank you, Marion. The Bayeux will be is a nice addition to my stitch journal.😊
There was quite a lot of Bayeux stitch on the Tapestry of Scotland too.
Marion, I would love to see another huswif/needle keeper but maybe a long one that folded or rolled up one with lots of pockets/holders/pincushions. You’re so creative I would love to see what you could come with. I always look forward to your videos. Thank you for all the time you put into all your videos, we are blessed for sure to be able to watch you. Sending hugs😊
Hmm.. I'd have to think of someone that needed one as I'm happy with the one I use now 🤔
Thank you so much Marion, never too old to learn 😊🥰
Absolutely! I'm learning all the time..☺️
Thank you Marion for another great stitch! ❤
In senior school we had Craft lessons. I didn’t really take to it. First project was a hessian bag on which we learned embroidery stitches in wool. I hated it! Second project was a blank canvas using embroidery stitches in wool … I did a picture of Nell Gwyn …. My friend did a tortoise! I must say it turned out quite well .. but still hated doing it. Nowadays, of course, I’m addicted to my small cross stitch cushions and I’m new to slow stitch. I’m loving it!! I regularly watch your videos and this series is helping me by reintroducing the stitches we learned over fifty years ago only this time I’m enjoying it! Thank you Marion!
It must be the right time for you now..😊🪡🧵
Wonderful ! Thanks again for a very informative and clear example of the bayeux stitch - off to give it a try !
Great stuff!
Happy Friday Marion! Such a fun little stitch! As always thanks for sharing! ❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you
Thank you Marion ❤ Tineke
Thank Marion for teaching and sharing!! ❤
❤🇨🇦 Cool Stitch.
Just another anecdote. The beautiful tablecloth embroidered by my Mum,had at each corner ,adifferently coloured crinoline lady..carrying abasket.I remember flowers spilling from it.For whatever reason,we three children vied to have THE PURPLE LADY at our place.Hanging over the edge of the table.Meatn2veg.NOTa drop spilledThe lady had a trelliswork bower over her.Wonder if any of these delightful ironon designs are in drawers.Ive some old Womens Journals with superb designs in for stitiches.
I have a huge amount of them! I'll show them when I have time... I've some lovely ones but they're not all in good condition.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful tutorial ❤️
Ive really gotten so much use out of this stitch, particularly the ground work half just for big areas! So economical! Have a lovely Friday, and thank you for these wonderful videos ❤
Yes it would most usually be done with what's called surface satin stitch. All your thread ends up on the top so it's very economical. It keeps your work very flat too. Having said that..if I was using it on a small area I might just use satin stitch anyway. Whichever would work best is the one I'd do.
Gracias por esta nueva puntada!, un abrazo
Are you going to the Bham craft show?Never been to any.Imagine they are a combination of temptationand exhaustion.Starting to feel more like the White Queen in Alice every day.
No I didn't realise about it.. but it's a long way for me. When I go to Sewing for Pleasure I have to find somewhere to stay for a couple of nights...
Lovely! Thankyou!
Thank you❤
Awesome
Where in a piece of embroidery would you use the stitch?
I've just used it in the middle of a flower in the Stitch Journal weekly stitching I'm doing on my channel. th-cam.com/video/1gMLSz_GCE0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=26jxJwVEBfbZR4qG
I didnt know there is so many different stitches. I dont embroid but this is interesting
There are thousands of stitches and variations of stitches. You'll have to give a bit of embroidery a try Helena...
@@marionsworld24 Yes I will! Eventually someday... Because I have so many projects right now: crochet, sew pearljewelry and I have lots of fimoclay and wire!! Everything screams: Come and get me! 😂
Nice one Marion, I never thought of couching with a slanting stitch, always used a straight one. What’s with the slanting stitch that makes you do it this way?
I think I just like the look of it like that. Plus I've seen it done both ways.
Thank you for this new stitch. I look forward to adding it to my stitch book. ❤
Would a whole embroidery design be filled in with this stitch, or just large areas?
It is really good for large areas , but I'd use it anywhere that I wanted that look. I've just used in to fill in a flower petal in the previous video to this one.
❤️❤️❤️
😊👍🏻❤️
