The second life of a RARE vintage lighter. Amazing restoration

- Hello, my dear subscribers! I'm delighted to once again bring you a new project! In the latest video, I want to introduce you to a fantastic ship-shaped lighter. I stumbled upon this amazing petrol lighter at the bottom of a box filled with wrenches during a garage sale on my street. And you won't believe how much it cost me - absolutely nothing! I was purchasing a few other items there, and the owner of the sale gifted it to me, saying he couldn't even remember where it came from. The lighter had become rusty from lying next to some old, rusty keys, leaving traces of rust on its plastic body, which added to its vintage appeal.
When I got home, I tried searching the internet to find out the model, but I couldn't find anything. The search for "ship-shaped lighter" only yielded the Japanese Sarome Cruiser lighter, but it clearly wasn't the one. During the restoration process, I noticed Cyrillic lettering that read "ХАЗАР," and I realized that its origins date back to the distant times of the USSR.
I am glad that you liked the result 🔨 Rate my work from 1 to 10 👍 I look forward to your comments, likes and subscriptions❤️

Amazing restoration of a rare vintage ship lighter. I think it could be one of a kind you don't see anymore.
Thank you very much! I still see such lighters at auctions, but I think that hardly anyone will be engaged in restoration)
Fantastico ! Bravissimo!

@nickadams2451 this is a copy of the Japanese Sarome lighter, but it was made exactly from the Soviet Union
@@SalvageRestore I thought it looked familiar until I saw the Cyrillic. I used to collect lighters. I have a rare porcelain one from the 1920s that still works.
@nickadams2451 it seems to me that after this project I will also start collecting them, I still have a trench lighter made from a cartridge case from the Second World War, I bought it from one “black archaeologist”, maybe later I will make a video with its restoration.

Why did the lobster turn red? Because he saw the Queen Mary's bottom.

What do you do with these pieces after you restore them?
keep, donate or sell)
Amazing… This lighter is like new inside😂 What did happen with the outside…. Paint with dirt😂
Everything on this lighter did work from start!
Anyway, it had a nice “facelift”!
I don’t want to prove anything to the “experts”), but in my opinion, ditches from rust are clearly visible on the metal, and as for the inside, it seems to me that, logically, there should be nothing but cotton wool) thanks anyway for appreciating my work😊

sand blaster!
What did you use to make it rusty in the first place?
time)
what is the clear fluid you used that turned yellowish?
it is a solution of hydrogen peroxide, citric acid and salt. it instantly starts to react with rust, so it turns yellow
@@SalvageRestore Thank you very much for the information.

I have a Godzilla lighter from 1985 an i can't seem to refill it any ideas?
I think it would be an interesting project 🦖
@@SalvageRestore I have the big verizon an the smaller version they both can't seem to hold in the propane gas they both spark but that's about
Name of the abuse material please?
I do not understand what are you talking about. What do you have in mind?
@@SalvageRestore Minute 09:39
What is the name of the green substance?
@TOMMYRestoration This is an electrolyte of electroless nickel plating. I made it myself, a recipe of four chemical reagents + you need to maintain a constant temperature, but it’s much easier to buy a ready-made composition for electrolysis
Looks like it was made but never used
🤔
This lighter made in USSR. I think on territory of Azerbaijan. Now it is independent state
Uh i don't think it's supposed to be glued shut knowing it needs the cottons to be replaced every once in a while....
otherwise, it was glued from the factory. By the way, you can replace cotton wool with tweezers)
I cringed when he put that extra hard zippo flint in this poor vintage lighter. Gonna need a new striker wheel after two flints…
For two months the lighter works every day and everything is fine with it and with the wheel)
🤣🤣🤣TITANIC 🛳️🚢
yes, and you don't have to pay $250,000 to see it 🤪

Hello friend, I am sorry to have to tell you that your lighter is a cheap copy or plagiarism of the Sarome company Produced from 1959 to 1960
The typical VINTAGE SAROME cigarette lighter. Kunijiro, originally a producer of high-class toys, manufactured several of his cigarette lighters for fun. This model was one such lighter, manufactured in the motif of a cruiser.
Only one other model at the time was designed with equal whimsy, the camera design model. CRUISER was received with delighted surprise as soon as it hit the market. Many units were shipped outside of Japan, especially to the USA
I wrote about it in the description of the video)
