    Are you gonna buy Phoscyon 2? Do you already have it? What is your favourite new feature?

    I think this is a really cool plugin. In fact I like all their plugins. What I like is that they have a really good sound that is very similar to the old hardware, but also adds lots of extra functions that make them more useful like their 808, 909 drum vst for example. The Phoscyon 2 is almost my favorite though.

    Is it worth the money? Well, I just bought it this evening and have had so much fun I’ve stayed up half the night even though I have work tomorrow. So for that alone it’s worth the money 😅. It sounds insanely good. And really intuitive to use.

    A great review thanks. I would have removed a star for the last version stopping working when M1’s came out and them not fixing it. I will probably buy the upgrade but I will try not to buy any new D16 product going forward as I don’t like being forced to upgrade to use a product I already purchased.

      Thank you. Yeah I agree it was bad not making version 1 work on Apple Silicon, but I thought the upgrade pricing somewhat made up for it. I have so many old projects using Phoscyon, and will probably have more going forward now, it was a must buy for me.

    Nice review, mate. You seem t have covered everything, and it's a really appealing bit of kit! I use Reason and already bought AudioRealism's ABL3, which is another killer 303 emulator, but I think Phoscyon may have the leg up, at least re how good it looks, and being able to change the full sound of it while a pattern is playing, when you went through a bunch of excellent preset sounds early in the video. May have to just use both :P More aciiiiiid :)

    Phoscyon 2 is a huge improvement over the first version in sound, functionality and UI. My go-to TB-303 emulation is ABL3. I never really got warm with the first Phoscyon, but I really like this new version. Will it become my favorite TB-303 emulation VST? Time will tell.

    • @abyssalstructures
      @abyssalstructures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I feel like if you're into tweaking the calibration parameters until you're satisfied, you can probably get really close to your ideal 303 sound. But like I say in the video, I don't own the hardware, so can't do a comparison. I'll definitely be putting Phoscyon 2 to use, though.
      I have several tracks I started with Phoscyon 1 before upgrading to an M1 Mac Studio, so gotta finish them to start with, lol.

    I already have the first version and I don't think that the additional features justify the upgrade. It is one of the best TB-303 software emulation that's all... The features around the sound engine are gadgets IMHO.

    worth the money if you dont have hardware. worth it even more if you have the original (got mine for £25) Piano roll is fantastic. I use it as a scratchpad for quickly writing patterns for my 2 td3s. allows me to visualise the pattern whilst listening to it then just program the patterns using the hardware sequencer or the behringer
    synthtool. big fan of D16 and this update is excellent

    • @abyssalstructures
      @abyssalstructures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's cool! I didn't even think about that use case since I don't have hardware, but that's a great way to use it.

    Hi,
    I’ve written a track in B minor - Is there a way to create random note sequences of a set length that are forced to stay within that scale? I can’t find a way and it’s driving me up the wall! Cheers!

    If you have the OG - well worth it.
    If not, then it might seem a little overpriced.
    If they do some sort of sale it will do massive numbers.

  • @rocknets
    @rocknets 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I like the sound of it but it feels like too much money for me, even when on offer. I can get a hardware BEHRINGER TD-3 for £80, so £70 for Phoscyon 2 feels a bit much. If the Phoscyon 2 was about £35 then I'd seriously consider parting with my cash. And I think that they'd get a lot more customers.

    • @abyssalstructures
      @abyssalstructures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fair point. Phoscyon 2 does do a bit more than the hardware does, though. And it is much cheaper if you already had the previous version. That being said, if you prefer a hardware workflow, by all means get the hardware.

    • @rocknets
      @rocknets 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@abyssalstructures I'm not really a hardware user and do prefer using a DAW. I can hear that Phoscyon 2 sounds good and has some great features, but it's still too much money for me, specially when compared with a hardware alternative. I really do think that they'd sell a lot more Phoscyons if they dropped the price considerably. I bought a boxed Komplete 13 upgrade recently for about £70, which included a harddrive too.

  • @Frozen_Smoke1972

      @@abyssalstructures Looking forward to the MIDI Sequencer video too

    • @abyssalstructures
      @abyssalstructures  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had a look, and seems like the closest parameter you can actually automate on Phoscyon itself is Decay. If you want to have note lengths increase or decrease over time, for example, you're better off using the EXT. mode and MIDI transform your note lengths from Functions > MIDI Transform. Selecting Fixed Note Length as the starting preset you already have the right parameter, and then you can just edit to taste.
      If you just want a different note length for each step, you may want to look into a MIDI sequencer plugin such as 510k Seqund. I'll be making a review of that soon. If a simple arpeggiator is enough, the Logic built-in Arpeggiator MIDI effect also has the option to automate step length.

    • @nachonigel2798
      @nachonigel2798 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@abyssalstructures Alright I see, I'll experiment with the Ext. Mode a bit first. Thanks a lot for taking the time to check!!🤙🏻

    • @abyssalstructures
      @abyssalstructures  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm not here to engage in the analog vs. digital war, but the reality is most people would rather spend a little money to get a plugin that's close enough than spend a lot of money to get the real thing.
