@Happykrumpingwargaming007 ofcourse I enjoyed it man! Love how you explain all the combos and interactions with the enhancements, strats and units, well done!
Thank you for this. I read the detachment and didn't see half of what you saw in those strats! I have 12 Tyranid models from 9th edition I haven't been using. Going to buy me some more.
I guess this detachment is a bit better than we think. The Stratagems are pretty good and I have the feeling a Swarm Lord and a Tyrant may have a good impact. Getting 2 CP in your Command Phase and have one strat for free every turn is really good. I will test this, but need more Warriors haha Edit: 3 Exocrines and 6 Units of Melee Warriors orderd :)
Unit of gargoyles + Tprime, thats a big brick of 5++ invul, add on the -1 to be hit enhancement or the adv and charge... thats one huge area denial unit thats significantly tougher
So, 6 warriors, 3 venomthropes, psychophage. You get 5+ invulns, 6+ fnps, stealth and cover, a very good melee profile, for a tidy 315 points. And any other 150 pt warrior units you buy just get the same cover and 6+ fnp. These guys are tankier than custodes for half the points.
If they change the ranged warriors base BS to 3+ (instead of the current 4+) then all those enhancements and stratagems will make the warrior spam detachment very playable in competitive play
For the sticky objective strat, the way it's worded, doesn't it keep the OC from the end of phase? So if you had 3 warriors at OC 9, then leave the objective, your opponent would need OC 10 to actually take control?
Lore wise it’s Hive Fleet Tiamet/Kronos. We never had that! (Diamond Chitin nids/warriors) If its as good as synaptic than is it good. I like that it’s two detachment in one. 1) meele durable warriors 2) Shooty damage warriors castle 3) Tyranid bodyguard style It’s 3 in one that’s sick. Not OP but can be competitive. I mean S20 Tfex. Tfex wound on 2. ON 2’s! On a tank.😮
And NT gives MONSTER keyword. Ranged have fall back and charge on datasheet. Ranged Warrios shoot in combat. S7 on warriors. On T12 models they wound on 5, twin linked….. with sustained and shit. I wonder if they can rip a Dorn now.
i think it's funny that i'm in a different spot than any of your predicted reactions. i'm pretty happy with the power level and i think it's in line with what we expected. i'm more upset that it's so narrow. i have close to 10k of nids and cannot play this detachment without spending hundreds of dollars. if you played during 9ed leviathan and roachmaxxed, you're probably over the moon. but it's very disappointing when we could have gotten something more broad like a psychic detachment that actually benefits psykers or a charges matter behemoth detachment to help fix the fact that tyranids are a very passive and reactive army this edition.
its a 100% different way to play nids. I am not sure i understand the complaint? Do we not want variety? Options to play at a high level with in very different ways? Why should every detachment run the exact same things?
@Happykrumpingwargaming007 there are 3 main problems with tyranids this edition in the eyes of our dedicated players: 1) many of our core/iconic units are weak 2) the fantasy of tyranids involves being aggressive and applying pressure. In practice the army is a reactive finesse army that loses if you take risks and push up 3) the army has very little remaining of its psychic faction identity beyond brains on the models. I personally would have preferred the new detachment address #2 or #3 than #1, and it only addresses #1 for people who have 27 warriors for last edition. It's personal preference and my own feelings. The people who like warriors I am super happy for and the power level is on point
Also, I don't think folks have considered how many you can field. This detachment allows you to field 72 warriors for 1680 points. That's a lot of 5++, t5 bodies with 3 wounds.
OOE + Carnifexes get full hit rerolls and wound rerolls of 1. Alongside the amount of rerolls melee warriors just get natively, you're gonna feel like you're cheating
@@BLUEBOYISLEDGE Being able to move and shoot will always be better than doing only one of the two, and then you can avoid the targeting restriction of Big Guns, split fire, charge to gain fights first, charge a different unit, reposition to force desperate escape, and still be in melee for your opponent's shooting phase to give them -1 to hit. It's not nothing.
@@Happykrumpingwargaming007 I was thinking the T6 primaris infantry ones. The heavy intercessors, Eradicators, Aggressors etc. All T6, 3w, which is a bit of a stretch I feel. Comparatively speaking...
@BLUEBOYISLEDGE true enough, but it seems like more than a little stretch to let that grant +2 toughness. There is also 3 wounds on those models, so I'm inclined to think that even without the gravis armour, these are some beefy marines to begin with. Regardless, Tyranid Warriors are significantly more beefy and sort of biologically adapted to their purpose over millions of years (I'm presuming due to their origins from another galaxy). The comparison just comes accross as odd to me. :-)
i mean if we had lore accurate models on the table, angron would have a strength characteristic of 9000. An average space marine would easily move 12 inch. 3 custodes would body 10,000 gaunts. The table top does not and SHOULD not reflect lore accurately
Ranged warriors never need to fight in combat. They have fall back, shoot, and charge built in. The neurotyrant doesn’t help with that except making them vulnerable to anti-monster weapons now.
@@Happykrumpingwargaming007 I think the commenter is referring to a recent big win by the First Company detachment of Space Marines. Nobody saw that coming.
Looks super fun! Thanks for the uploads , great start to my morning
cheers! Id love to hear what you cook with the new detachment!
I love seeing all the stuff they took from custodes showing up in other armies as an upgraded version
hahaha my heart hurts a little bit
Was waiting for this video!
Hope you enjoyed it! Tyranids are sick, sadly i think this still relies on the big bugs a little too much
@Happykrumpingwargaming007 ofcourse I enjoyed it man! Love how you explain all the combos and interactions with the enhancements, strats and units, well done!

yeah the tyrant seems super solid here!

yeah i talked about it in my list video which is up now, i just think its too many points, but there can be some use for it

i have a list in my next video later today you might enjoy.

ill have a video out later with some list we are cooking in the discord. I legit think there is a reason to run 6 of them
then they gonna look more like regular marine. i prefer more -1 Ap instead.
Terminator buffs when?
i have 3 videos to release today! I am cooking :P ill have that out and then 2 list with the new nids to try out as well!

No there is a rules commentary section that says all Sticky Objective strats and abilities work the same way regardless of wording
Lore wise it’s Hive Fleet Tiamet/Kronos. We never had that! (Diamond Chitin nids/warriors)

cool thanks for explaining!
I saw this detachment and immediately dusted off since models to do a tyranid warrior inventory.
yeah i think some cool stuff can be done here

without a DOUBT!
Melee warriors already hit on 3. The Enhancement lets them hit on 2 😊

thats a decent one as well! There is just a ton of options with this
I am not seeing enough said about ranged warriors allowing neurotyrants to fall back and shoot.
its very nice, but you probably dont see too many people excited about it because since he is a monster he can already shoot in combat.
Because its the most 'nothing' buff they could get

@@jonc.6046 hence why I put it in inverted commas
I've always thought Tyranid Warriors should be T6 base. Hard to justify them just being equal to a Primaris without his armour on.
i mean they are tougher than primaris, which are T4?
