I have the fy-03 brushed version of that car (black/red plastic body). Amazing rc car, had it over a year and not one problem from it... the only thing I have done was replace the rear shocks with 100mm scx10 crawler oil filled shocks to stop the rear bounce and oil filled the front ones. Amazing car for the price and nice channel by the way!

12428+clones, are top heavy and roll over on cue, it's just how they really are. they're well suited to having a really small pinion gear, suspension softening for easy flex, and used as a trail crawler/bouncer instead of trying to be something fast. they climb really well if you aim at torque not speed, and lock up the rear diff, front one too if you like.

I just cable tie the switch to the shock's tower post. the Fy03 will break off those skate park ramp...The tires sticks out more than the bumper... It is what it is...You'll snap the steering knockles quicker than quick on nose in landings. It;s not designed for that type of driving. You can mount a front skid plate or bumper. There's 2845 3300KV on 60A. 3s 40C lipo...on mine. it's way faster.

Kevin have you heard rumors about the new Xmaxx coming out. It’s being believed to be released in 2020, but some say it could be released as early as this summer. The body looks like a UDR and Xmaxx body mixed. They are making a 1/5 version of it too called the Xmaxx XL and it is going to be 12s. The other regular sized one will still be 8s. The tires are going to be new as well. These are leaks from someone I know who works and has connections with Traxxas and says he has seen one. How cool would this be?!
Hey Kev, does this one come with different sized pinions? Depending on motor temp I'd say that little outboard brushless has a bit more in it. Seems like this could definitely use the $40 (give or take) goolrc cheap eBay combo treatment. Just the higher amperage ESC and a full size motor would give this all the balls it needs without a pinion swap

Put 500k oil in the front diff and lock the rear. Then either replace the shocks or put thicker oil in them. Made a world of difference on my 10428.

I have the wltoys 12428 for 2 years of bashing and crashing and it finally stripped a gear.. nice vid tho and maybe I will buy this as an upgrade
