I was in a lounge in Chattanooga, TN when I first heard this song. I couldn't stop playing it that night, and I've been in love with it ever since. Freddie Hart is one of the best country singers of all time.
Wow; What a tremendous voice! I remember Freddie had several big hits while I was still a pup and I played them constantly on my old 8 track player! lol Man what a golden age of Real Country music unlike the clowns we have today calling themselves country when it's not Rock, Country, Folk, Pop or anything that can be defined with a name! It's a shame that Country music has died! It was the best music ever at one time.
I like Freddie Hart. I never understood why he wasn't more popular. He sure has the voice. Freddie......... you are a good singer. Thank you for the good listening here in Illinois.
O-H-I-O Porters🇺🇸 Greetings everyone. My 1st time hearing him was on an 8 track tape when I was a kid. Remember those? I always liked his voice & enjoyed listening to his songs, which were only about 2 on that tape. Quite enjoyable! Wonderful music, voice & much different than what we hear today! I haven’t heard this song for some time. I still have that 8 track tape by the way. WOW! Blessings! 🥰🤩🇺🇸
Freddie worked many shows that my husband Ken Allen promoted with partner Vic Lewis and he is one of the sweetest men I know, and a very good Christian , I love to hear him sing , just so soothing, my husband died in2005 and he loved Freddie, so he was on our shows as much as we could get him. Miss seeing him and hope he is doing well yet at 89. Widow of Ken Allen
I had plumb forgotten about this beautiful song and I come across it I lost my mom in 1974 due to traffic vatality and just wish I could take a trip to heaven and not have to die it would great see again God knows I miss her terrible
This is my favorite Freddie Hart tune. Wow did Freddie write & sing one great tune. Oh what a talent Alabama produced and what a nice guy! Thanks for posting this so I can hear it over & over again each week.
Growing up I remember riding in along with my Dad in his Dodge Polara and he would always turn up the car stereo real loud when this song came on....those were special times in my life.
I was about 10 years old when I bought my first 8 track, well needless to say it was Freddie Hart's greatest hits. The music sounds even better now. We haven't had a recent song as good as this one since Paint me a Birmingham
Back in the early 70's hauling gasloline all over Los Angeles area old Freddy kept many tanker drivers entertained as we crawled along on the freeway. His stuff lives on with many of us, thanks for posting this.
The final #1 hit for Freddie Hart and The Heartbeats on the Country & Western charts. It was the 270th #1 C&W song of the Rock Era. It also hit #1 on the Canadian C&W charts. Freddie would have two more songs to hit #1 in Canada, but not the US.
I heard this song on radio coming home from sioux falls, sd and i couldn't belivie what i was hearing what a wondeful song, i didn't know who sang it but sure out as soon as i got home..i should have knowen it was good ol Freddie...just love it
On this day in 1973 {August 11th} Freddie Hart's "Trip to Heaven" reached #1 {for 1 week} on Billboard's Hot Country Singles chart... It was his 6th and final #1 record on the Billboard chart... And on September 1st reached #1 {for 1 week} on the Canadian Country Tracks chart... Mr. Hart will be 86 years old come this December 21st...
Even if you've never really been in true blue love, this song can at least make you think of a girl or woman who you've admired forever when you listen to it and it's as if you're singing it right to her.A powerful and romantic ballad!
