I lied... THIS is the HARDEST MAP - 304 to Pitstock Lane | Smarden | OMSI 2

Hello everyone, and welcome to this week's OMSI 2 video!
We finally take our first looks at Smarden, a map practically designed to be as challenging as possible for bus drivers. We take a a nice and slow drive along the 304, which, mind you, is one of the map's easier routes, but still gives us a taste of some of the map's toughest bits.
As unrealistic as the map may be (to real-life England, that is - the scenery is very well done), Smarden is certainly unique and offers a good, pretty unconventional challenge. It's a nice and enjoyable map to have a drive around on every once in a while if you want to really put your bus driving abilities to the test.
The Optare Spectra we take on this trip is quite heavily modified - a combination of Badger's Euro 3 sounds and JR316's 3-speed Voith mod, one of the many configs included in a mod for the bus by Phil Mitchell on Discord. Not sure if I am allowed to share the server link around - so no download links for this one. Sorry!
I do apologise for the terrible slurred voiceover in this one - I was once again extremely sleep deprived at the time of recording.

Yup - crazy part is the map’s from 2020 and here we are talking about it and calling it old already. Time flies dunnit

surprised to see that you only have 163 subscribers, you deserve a lot more. also, you said that other routes are impossible in anything longer than 8.9m, but i frequently drive the 10.2m streetlite on the 347 and 349

Heya! Thanks for the kind words.
I’m not that confident as a driver and tend to be pretty cautious behind the wheel - perhaps overly cautious at times - so I’ll happily stick to the smaller vehicles :) I’m sure it’s possible to take larger vehicles on those routes as long as you have the requisite skills - skills I sorely lack haha
Still, I did get stuck once in a Spectra on an uphill hairpin in Lower Monkton - all I could do was spin the tyres - so I’d say there’s still a certain limit when it comes to vehicle choice.

@@rtn_727 I did get stuck in the spectra on the 349 going up the first hill going towards Lower Monkton from Sturry if you know what I'm talking about, but I managed the Streetlite up there fine. That one stretch of hill is very steep though, I am going to assume thats what your talking about. :)

I recorded my 304 Spectra video a good while before I posted it so we both did the same thing pretty much haha. You also used badgers mod while I drove default sounds.

The bus I drove is a combo of the 3-speed Voith mod and Badger’s Euro 3 sounds by Phil over on Discord, which also includes BDotG’s SP displays. Pretty sure you’re not in the server where it’s uploaded but I could drop you an invite if you want!

Heya! Been a while so unfortunately I don’t recall exactly where. I was using the SP displays mod though, so any SP hof would’ve worked. Hope this helps!

The c400r express can make it up the hills on the 349.

Never tried that bus on the 349 though I have tried using the Spectra, same spec as the one in the video I think. Made it just fine to Lower Monkton but just started spinning its tyres around the first corner on the trip back.
I should try taking a larger bus on the 349 again sometime though, might actually work

Hoping to get the Solo out when I do, but its Wayfarer’s been having issues with the map - I keep giving the passengers the “wrong” tickets even with easy ticket selling on. Fingers crossed I get that sorted soon!

Hey there, apologies for the late response! Hopefully this reply also answers your question in your other comment.
I’m assuming you’ve installed ReShade, but haven’t set up a preset yet.
ReShade works by allowing you to apply additional filters and effects to a game. This is something you can do yourself, but you can also download and use presets created by other people (myself included, it’s been made public on my Discord server).
This is a fairly complicated process I can’t really explain over a TH-cam comment, so I recommend checking out tutorial videos on how to use ReShade and ReShade presets. Tne link to the ReShade download in the description also includes a guide on how to navigate the ReShade UI and apply effects.
